The last films released on VHS in South Korea were Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame, Troubleshooter, Inception and the only South Korean film that got a VHS release in 2011 was Haunters.
@@Art_koreI have a bad feeling about the Haunters VHS So, this tape is apperently the very last VHS release in South Korea, and possibly in the world. I can’t find any images of the packaging or tape anywhere, or even better, an opening or closing to back it up.
You won’t find any opening or closing credits for this tape online. However, there are images of what the tape front cover looks like. It’s the same as the DVD.
People like myself are buying VCR players cleaning tapes vhs movies everything else off eBay and Amazon now days no more getting out of my house now days everything comes to my house or the po box
are most of these late Hollywood tapes from Korea in widescreen? I the other day was trying to think about when we stopped selling full screen DVDs here in the us and I feel like it was somewhere around 2008/9 when we stopped seeing pan and scan movies much. I just ask because I imagine most people who were renting or buying videos still probably still had 4:3 tvs. Hell I didn't have an hdtv until I bought a 4k one in 2016/2017. I was buying tapes later than most people because I didn't have a DVD player in my bedroom, and I tried to always get widescreen if it was available for both DVDs and videos but it was pretty rare on tapes. Mostly just like star wars or really famous old movies had widescreen videos. my dad on the other hand hated letterboxing so he always wanted full screen copies of everything which when he got an hdtv pissed him off because now everything he owned was pillar boxed.
I have no idea which ones ended up widescreen and at what time they changed (if it became a standard or not?) All I know is that some tapes from the 1980s could be letterbox on some rare occasions as well.
Interesting, yeah in the states widescreen was mainly left to laserdisc, besides the late 90s there was more of a push for widescreen videos. but around 01/02 when DVD totally caught on it was pretty much left just to DVD and we stopped getting widescreen tapes. I think that was because laserdisc and later DVD having bonus features and stuff were more targeted at a collector who would probably want the uncropped picture where as if you just wanted the movie you were probably just going to buy the video. most my late releases on VHS from 03-06 all are full screen. I always preferred it when a DVD had both but it was probably just more expensive to have two discs or use those horrible double sided ones that would scratch to hell even if you were careful.
@@Art_kore in fact I think the Inception tape even deserves a Guinness World Record as the rarest physical copy of a Hollywood movie especially because of how much it sold for.
@@Art_kore The Blu-ray of the film was released on April 20, 2011 and the 2-Disc version on DVD was released on March 7, 2011, so I'm now guessing the VHS is released in May 2011.
Perhaps a sell-thru release but not the original rental one. That was February 2011. m.search.naver.com/search.naver?sm=mtp_hty.top&where=m&query=초능력자+dvd#imgSlot=slot1&imgId=image_sas%3Anshopping_7196d00fc5782c0f7d975806eddb85d7
