Happy to see a review on this. Definitely looking to find something to edit with while on battery. My currently laptop absolutely crushes anything I do in resolve, but it's very heavy and does really poorly on battery. I do most of my editing while tethered to a wall and it's not a big deal to do that most of the time, but in a long car ride it would be nice to be able to do some editing on the go! Seems like a decent laptop for that purpose, I'd probably go with the 16 inch.
I can't believe the prices people are willing to pay for laptops. These would be sold much cheaper, still with a decent profit, if people would just refuse to bend over.
Equivalent desktop components: 1000 bucks Color accurate OLED screen: 500 Drawing pad: 100-200 bucks Mouse + keyboard of decent quality: 150 bucks Shitty speakers: 50 bucks 1800 bucks total. Specialized engineering,, custom parts, design and low volume manufacturing: 300 bucks. 2100 dollars. And they obviously need some profit margin. Considering they buy all in bulk, bring it all down to 1500 dollars per laptop. These are just guesses, of course, but trying to illustrate it is not a 1:1 comparison. Still a more fair price than a Macbook Pro
Look at the g14 it has a better display than m3 max I sold and speakers are actually macbook pro tier. PX13 will be a downgrade. I want one because it's the same weight as a macbook air. But it can actually run applications and game.
I'm still rocking my Asus Zephyrus 14, but I try not to use it for Resolve as its like looking through a letterbox with such a tiny screen to edit on. She who must be obeyed would kill me if I bought another laptop. Saying that my 32 inch monitor developed a Red Line of Death over the weekend, which gave me a fantastic excuse to buy a new 32 inch monitor to edit on. Its not Mr Mostyn quality by a long shot, however it is the equal of the apple Studio Display. Good luck with tomorrow. I'll be tuning in for the show. Sadly I'm working all the other day's so I'll have to catch up next week on all that ResolveCon goodness.
@@MrAlexTech You could reach out to BenQ for the DP3225U. There are a few reviews. Maybe you could hint at using the Display from a Resolve user perspective. If you get to keep the display, then that would be a shame. 😇
The 4070 mobile with 8 GB VRAM at the top end is a dealbreaker. The only mobile GPU that has enough RAM is the (mobile) 4090 with 16 GB. For work on the go I'd rather not have to first generate proxies. Davinci Resolve with 10 Bit open gate / 8k footage and a few layers. MacBook Pro with their integrated system RAM / VRAM is more convenient (unfortunate as it is to have two different operating systems between mobile and desktop work).
Hey Alex, Thanks for an awesome review, I really enjoying watching Your cool review. I just missing the very important information, WHAT IS THE USB-C MAX POWER CHARGING WATS IT CAN TAKE IT, for P16 version. Cheers :)
First of all, thank you for review, you are great. Of course, the AI 300 series of processors came out great from Ryzen. But the way Asus implemented its series of laptops based on these processors is a complete failure. I would like to draw attention to the fact that the creators are not only those people who are engaged in video content or photo processing, music (here, processor power is required) - this is probably 10-15% of the total number of creators. The majority of creators are people engaged in engineering graphics, 3D visualization, coding using machine learning, etc. (here, the power of a video card is still required, and no AI processor cores have even come close to the power, speed and capabilities of graphic video cards in the distant future). So, not a single new series of Asus laptops (S series, G series, ProArt, etc.) have USB type C ports that do not support connecting external video cards and this is a real failure of the century, making all these laptops useless for professionals. The point of laptops for creators is probably that it is a light, compact device, convenient for travel, demonstrations, etc., but at the same time having the ability to return home / office and make a real workstation out of the laptop, by connecting an external video card, for example. But this cannot be done and as a result, some tasks (with a connected video card) could be completed in 2-3 minutes, but in the end, 40 minutes - an hour will be spent on this. Too much loss of time and therefore efficiency.
how would you rate the Lenovo Yoga ProArt 16 for a productivity workstation. Very little to no gaming with financijal analysis, stock trading, excel shleets and youitube adn video browsing and viewing. I normally connect to an AOC external 28inch monitor aty 144 hz refresh rate. thx
I'm not sure why the 13 has dual USBC40gbs and the 16 only has one? The previous gen 16 had dual thunderbolt, as a creative professional that's a deal breaker unfortunately
Px13 a fantastic compact portable pc/tablet. I have a question though. If I use such a labtop plugged in all the time, how often should I use it plugged out so the battery won't get damaged and last longer?
There's a battery care option within MyAsus! That limits the charge to 80% to help prolong the battery. I do like to unplug mine at least once a week though just to let the battery run a bit of a cycle.
I got the P16 with the 4060 and really like it, but I see DaVinci only uses the 4060 & not the 890m when rendering/running Is there any way to get DaVinci to leverage both the iGPU and the 4060?
You can't use both, but when you're rendering your video there is an option to select the Encoder! Native will be the 890m whilst Nvidia is the Nvidia GPU. If you're on the free version of Resolve you might only see Auto and Native. Auto should use the GPU, Native will use the 890m.
I have studio, and I always specify the NVIDIA codecs when available. I wish there was a good way to parallel iGPU & dGPU performance, the iGPU is surprisingly good so there’s a lot of performance sitting idle. Any news on when NPU will be integrated with the AI functions?
Awh, they got rid of the physical dial, the 3D OLED and the numpad... a dealbreaker. Really was hoping they'd make an AMD version of the ProArt Studiobook 16 3D OLED (H7604).
@@fanovaohsmuts yup, an OLED panel combined with a glass free 3D tech which tracks your eye in order to create the effect. A cool piece of tech... basically a successor to the tech used on those 3DS portable console.
If it wasn’t for the 60hz monitor and the absurd cost, this would’ve been a better value than the macbook m3 pro. But for less, the m3 pro gives you more. In the end I bought the macbook, I switched completely to the apple ecosystem. But rest assured, the next 2000 dollars I spend..will not be spent on a laptop. Desktop pc with a 4070 SUPER LETS GOO
people are obsessed with high refresh rate. it's just different, not better. You think it's better because it's a higher number. Why would you want a computer with soap opera effect.
Overpriced. Many good 2-in-1 laptops out there with same or better specs for a lower price. What happened to the days when ASUS was the better laptop for a lower price? Even HP has a better deal than ASUS.
