I am so interested in this technology i have already collected a dozen ICB's and two Large verticle tanks formerly used for storage of motor oil The ability to place "batteries" along the transmission line overcomes the biggest complaint that the detractors of electrification have to offer. The reliability in a widely distributed "Transmission-Storage" system, to me is the holy grail of reliability and performance. The very idea adds value to an existing transmission system that has never had this added value applied to it.

IMO with 3kw maximum draw and a 30kwh storage; ten hours x .8 = 8 hours of run time. or 5kw load and 30kwh storage = 6 x .8 = 4.8 hours. but for my use; i would be storing the battery full and use it when grid power goes out along with my 20kwh LFP batteries; 3kw load 50kwh x .8 = 40/3 = 13 hours if lucky? 8 to 9 hours to charge, so i can use it for 4 to 5 hours before i have to start my genset and start charging while using 3kw. i can charge at 50vdc x 100amps = 5kw / .7 efficiency? 7 hours with no load. 5kw - 3kw = 2kw 40kw charge state needed/2 kw charging rate=20 hours / .7 efficiency = 3+ hours genset charging time. so 16 hour cycle period.

Advanced Metallurgical Group is making a LIVA. It's a hybrid system with both a lithium battery and a Vanadium Redox Flow Battery, made for industrial use.

Cost? i guess 1st gen twice as much for lithium lifepo4 to recoup r&d costs/first investors get money back. But material wise, it's dirt cheap Commercial vanadium metal, of about 95% purity, costs about $20/lb. Vanadium (99.9%) costs about $100/oz. Anyways slow to hit market and with a recession coming it'll have a hard time keep doors open unless big investors pile more money into startup.
