Excuse me! The F-15 is most assuredly NOT a hypersonic aircraft. To be considered "hypersonic" a vehicle must be able to operate at mach 5 or greater. The F-15 is barely a mach 2+ aircraft. Somebody did not do their homework. Downvoted!

That's because the F-117 was only a bomber despite its F designation. It was not a fighter.

Yes, the F designation was a public relations ploy. Top Air Force officials thought it would be easier to attract pilots if they called it an F instead of a B.

i've always heard and read that hypersonic vehicles have to maintain a speed of, and over 5,000mph, the only 'manned' vehical to ever do this was the X-15.

This is NOT and far from the latest because it is not a Jet which is old hat and you can be assured that if they are willing to expose that they are at least 50 to 70 years ahead. In fact the last one I became aware of was so fast you could not see it because it was 10x SOL capable and it made no sound and that was 10 years ago and your Jets would be like comparing a wind up clock to the Atomic clock
