Honestly I've been wondering about this story for a while, I've heard about the Latin Kings a little back I was younger. Also there's a lot of history in the Midwest forreal; I would like to hear more stories on the Midwest on here more often.

I’m not from the inner city. I’m from Palatine Illinois. It’s about a 20 minute ride from Chicago northwest suburb. My community was full of Latin kings. All of my friends were Latin kings. I used to watch gang fights between Latin kings and vice Lords, even though they weren’t exactly notorious enemiesin that day which was the early 90s. Ultimately the Latin kings ran Palatine. I think now there are some other gangs in there but everything must change in time. Also for the record and maybe predominantly because I’m speaking on the suburban faction, but although many Latin kings were Mexican, there were also a few that were black and white. What this meant to me growing up was that, although certain races might have something in common because of ethnic backgrounds and culture, it meant that you didn’t have to be a particular race , and that has stayed with me until this day because I’m a white guy who always grew up around Black and Mexicans and have never had any white friends. As far as his rank he was a PEE WEE King. He was Killed in Humboldt Park by his own in 1988. He struggled with Addiction most of his King Life. The Founder of the Latin Kings was KING PHIL. Leavitt and Schiller in a area known as Wicker Park (also it's President. ) The other Group that started with the Original King's was located on Kedzie and Ohio in a area called East Garfield Park. Led by King Freddie they came together on May 15th 1964. with Leavitt our Anniversary. We will be Celebrating our 59 year. The average age of all the Original King's is now 75. The average age when we started was 16. Anyone who claims they started the Latin King's or were around will know the TRUTH. Our Original Club Sweaters were Black and Yellow. The First Master and Crown was designed by King Bruno. It was Painted on our Club House wall on Leavitt. We never called ourselves a GANG. It was the Politicians who Labeled us a Gang. Many of the Originals are still Alive. The Sister who asked Permission to start the Queens in late 65 was Queen Laura. Who just happened to be POLISH. I moved to La Villita in the summer of 1997 from a middle class neighborhood in LA, and it was a completely different world. I was 15 years old at the time. Everyone was out. All the neighbors. The whole block. All I could do was look out from my window at this block that was exploding with people, playing in the opened fire hydrant. This didn't happen in LA. I had no friends yet, but I felt part of something just seeing everyone outside. Once in a while I would go downstairs and go outside to the corner store and see a bunch of people standing on my porch. That blew my mind. Why were all these guys standing on someone else's porch? Later on, once I enrolled in high school, I learned what Latin Kings were and how things happened in our neighborhood. Luckily for me, I was a cute little shy girl, who rarely left my house and minded my own business. I didn't run into any trouble and was never bothered. Mostly people were shocked that I didn't speak Spanish. I met my very first boyfriend at Farragut HS. He was a King. He was so respectful and smart, got good grades, took care of his family. He would walk me to my classes, would hold my books, he would buy my lunch every day and drive me home at night. After high school, I ended up moving back to Cali to pursue college, but I do have to say that living in La Villita was probably the most exciting and interesting time in my life. As crazy as it was back then, I didn't feel unsafe walking around my neighborhood at any time of day or night. Maybe people had more respect back then, even gang members. Everyone was respectful in their own way. I don't know. But Traveling around the city on the El, cruising on 26th Street during summer nights, the eloteros, paleteros, the freestyle blaring from the windows, thinking back it all feels like a dream. Even though it was a poor neighborhood, it had its own culture and its own personality. I'm not sure how it is now, but I can say that being out in the city with friends in high school and not having any cell phones, was very freeing. I miss that. Having conversations with other people was really the only source of entertainment, and there were plenty of people to talk to. Good memories.....

Latin kings in Chicago was always predominantly Mexican and was started by a Mexican but was founded in Humboldt park which was a Puerto Rican stronghold and was home base. NY Latin Kings was founded by a Cuban but is predominantly Puerto Rican. This is always overlooked regardless amor for all my Latinos.
Latin Kings was started by Puerto Rican males in Humboldt Park back in the 1950's in response to white Greaser gangs back in that time. Back then it was Puerto Rican gangs vs White Greaser gangs on the North Side. That's the origin of gangbangin in Chicago.

The Owner could not create the Color we wanted and it was not Gold. We wanted a color to immulate the Sun. We ordered 10 for 100 hundred dollar's each. No tax and were told If we ordered 20 at a time he would sell them for 75 dollars. In a year we brought over 400. So, yes our original Color was Yellow. It changed in the Prisons and accepted on the streets. Our Master was designed by King Bruno in 65. I was a Witness not Hearsay.
You failed to mention Baby K who is considered Lord Gino’s equal. This also why there is a 3 point crown and a 5 point crown. It shows either Mexican heritage or Puerto Rican heritage. You didn’t even mention King Blood and how he set up the NY faction of the ALKQN. For a long time most Kings in Chicago wouldn’t recognize the NYC sets because King Blood wasn’t given permission by Lord Gino to set up his own set in NYC. You left A LOT of stuff out.

By the late 1800s most of them had infiltrated the Police force, the city was rapidly expanding and they were paying very little for a Job that became increasingly dangerous the more ppl migrated here. THIS is why most of the police in this country operate like a Gangs till this day! Mad props for this story cus tbh as ignorant as Gang banging is the idea of large urban street gangs started in Chicago in the 50’s and is one of the last gang banging cities without a Crip or Blood influence at all. All Chicago street gangs are homegrown and started right here then spread out, there’s Latin Kings in New York, GD’s in the south, Black Stones in LA but no outside gangs here, I love my crazy ass city frfr it’s so rich in history good and bad and super influential in this gang shit that the world loves to see/listen to
No dc is still majority hood banging now LA or Chicago gangs except a couple here and there that linked in federal prison But right outside of dc in Virginia and Maryland you got bloods, GDs, Crips, and Hispanic MS and 18th st (cali gangs)

And Black Stones in LA aren’t Chicago based, They was flipped into Blood’s… They’re not Stone Rangers like in Chicago 💯💯💯 And last but not least,There is in fact Los Angeles gangs in the suburbs of Chicago and once there was a Blood gang in the city limits of Chicago called the Orientals…

Born and raised in NY (Long Island), But I always knew there was a pretty big Latin population in Chicago maybe it’s because I’m Latin myself but fr any big Metropolitan city especially here in the US whether it’s NYC,Philly,LA,Chicago,Miami, Dallas etc, big cities always have so much different cultures/peoples all mixed together…
No joke the latin kings in the chicago area defended their neighbothoods during the "peaceful protests" to the point it was sanctioned by the cops. They had guys with ak's up on roofs on the main thrufares going into their areas. There were a bunch of gangs/thugs/opportunists that didnt want to destroy their own neighborhoods, they wanted to take that show on the road. The large convoys trying to get into those king neighborhoods. They were having none of that and stopped them before they had a chamce. Im not affiliated actually have LE family so was actually able to verify these stories. The kings do a ton of horrible shlt. But there wasnt another gang in the city doing anything like this. It gives you an idea how bad things were as far as the spread and numbers of groups out there just destroying and stealing, that the cops gave tacit approval to these guys enforcing rule, openly armed. Its a interesting story that could never be accurately documented written or like a documentary. But they were definitely a part in keeping things from going completely off the rails. Not just their own neighborhoods getting tore up, but it esclating when you started getting larger black vs brown going back and forth with more and more people and becoming more violent.
Latin Kings beat up a pregnant Black woman and stabbed her. She suffered miscarriage, GDs killed three Latin kings behind that situation. Keep it G fam
