Becoming the 150th British Steam Locomotive to arise from the Barry Island scrap yard, and returning to steam for the first time since 1964, ex-GWR 6959 Class 'Hall' no. 6989 'Wightwick Hall' would see it's official launch at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre at Quainton Road on March 3rd 2019, working public passenger shuttles alongside and double headed with resident GW Large Pannier no. 9466.
This video includes a close-up look at the newly restored 4-6-0 in some typical British weather conditions, before swapping places with the 94xx on the passenger shuttles, and moving off-shed to join the 2 coach train for the majority of the day, before signing off with some double-headed clips with no. 9466 for company, as the sun started to break through the clouds toward the end of the open day. Also featured is some parallel running clips, provided by the Brake Van rides also being operated during the day. Great to see another locomotive back from the dead, and may she continue running amongst all of the other surviving examples for a long, long time!
Thanks to fellow RU-vidr Tom (TomsSteamVideos70013) for an enjoyable day!
All shots filmed in 4K on a Panasonic VX980 camcorder with a Takstar SGC-598 Microphone.
