You've managed to make it sound quite haunting, which I love. It makes it easier, somehow, to imagine Legolas singing this while they sit beside Nimrodel.
I love hearing different interpretations of Tolkien's poetry and songwriting from the Middle Earth Mythos. This is just lovely, and one of my favourite songs of his. Thanks so much for showing us your take on it!
8 years later this is still the best rendition of Tolkien’s bittersweet poetry. The excellent arrangement and beautiful singing more than make up for the lower audio quality.
THIS VERSION IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, Love it to bits, instantly transports you to the forestfloor of lothlórien under the calm shade of Mellyrn while the falls of nimrodel flow in the background ;-;
How would I describe what I feel whenever I hear this song . It touches me so deep and makes me overwhelmed by happiness and sadness at once. I'm so grateful to you . ♡
My favorite rendition thus far. You're timing and melody I think are flawless for this song and capture the passion that this lay demands. Thank you for sharing.
I've been trying to compose a sentence for this comment, but it's left me semi-speechless, so here are some words that would have been included...pure, beautiful, perfect.
Thank you! Eventually, I'm going to make better recordings of the older songs, but can't do much with them professionally since they're copyrighted by the Tolkien Estate. Thanks for your support though!
Sure thing! You can find the chords to this one and a bunch of others here: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1DUiy1kerdYWkhRB96q6V3zgzjw-_NCIc?usp=sharing Happy playing! :)
Nimrodel is a Silvan elf of elder days who lived near the river of the same name. She was loved by the Sindar prince Amroth who promised to bring her to a place of eternal peace. Legolas sings this poem/song to the fellowship after they pass by the river. Nimrodel is not a character of the story, but rather a poignant and melancholic piece of world building and a damn good excuses for Tolkien to spoil us with another poem.
