*I. Appearance structure*
1. **2P leakage protector**:
- Occupies a width of two modules, with a relatively wide width, usually about 36 millimeters.
- There are two independent contacts that are connected to the live wire (L) and the neutral wire (N) respectively.
2. **1P+N leakage protector**:
- Occupies a width of one module, with a relatively narrow width, usually about 18 millimeters.
- One contact is connected to the live wire (L), and the other contact is connected to the neutral wire (N), but the N-pole contact is usually slightly narrower than the L-pole contact.
*II. Protection function*
1. **2P leakage protector**:
- Provides overload, short-circuit and leakage protection for both the live wire and the neutral wire. When a leakage fault occurs, it can quickly cut off the live wire and the neutral wire to ensure safety.
- In the case of overcurrent or short circuit, it can disconnect the live wire and the neutral wire at the same time to avoid damage to electrical equipment due to faults.
2. **1P+N leakage protector**:
- Mainly provides overload and short-circuit protection for the live wire and provides leakage protection for the entire circuit (including the live wire and the neutral wire).
- In the case of overcurrent or short circuit, only the live wire is disconnected, and the neutral wire remains connected. This may pose certain safety hazards in some cases. For example, if the neutral wire fails, the power may not be cut off in time.
*III. Wiring method*
1. **2P leakage protector**:
- There are two wiring terminals at the incoming end and the outgoing end respectively, and the live wire and the neutral wire need to be connected at the same time. The wiring is relatively simple and clear, and it is not easy to make mistakes.
- For single-phase circuits, there are usually marks of "L" and "N", which correspond to the access of the live wire and the neutral wire respectively.
2. **1P+N leakage protector**:
- There are two wiring terminals at the incoming end and the outgoing end. One terminal is connected to the live wire (L), and the other terminal is connected to the neutral wire (N). When wiring, it is necessary to distinguish the positions of the live wire and the neutral wire, otherwise the protector may not work properly.
- Usually, there will be clear marks on the protector to indicate the access direction of the live wire and the neutral wire.
*IV. Application scenarios*
1. **2P leakage protector**:
- Suitable for occasions with high requirements for electrical safety, such as home main distribution boxes, commercial places, etc.
- Since it can cut off the live wire and the neutral wire at the same time, it is more safe and reliable when inspecting the circuit.
2. **1P+N leakage protector**:
- Commonly used for the protection of branch circuits, such as socket circuits, lighting circuits, etc.
- Occupies less space and is suitable for use when the space of the distribution box is limited.
In conclusion, there are certain differences between 2P and 1P+N leakage protectors in terms of appearance structure, protection function, wiring method and application scenarios. When choosing, the appropriate type of leakage protector should be determined according to actual needs and the electrical environment to ensure electrical safety.
