These champ updates are much more interesting than newer champs to me. Idk why, I think as an artist I'm just fascinating to the idea of updating an old creation and seeing the years of knowledge bloom on their designs.
Thanks to _VTubers,_ of all things, riggers are finally starting to get some public recognition (we've always been appreciated behind the scenes). And as a rigger (a 3D one, granted), I love knowing that workers like myself can build seriously good _freelance_ careers out of something that, for the longest time, was considered so niche. (Studios almost always hire riggers in-house; you'd rarely ever "apply" to be brought on as a junior, for example.)
@laikhoabang It's definitely still niche, but it is a lot more well-recognized now. As recent as half a decade ago, most people had no idea what rigging even _was,_ unless you already worked in an animation/VFX pipeline.
@@Jambonneau826 Sometimes, yeah! Rigging is always taught in animation/VFX schools, and generally is more closely associated with modeling than animation. But, it really just depends on who has the most rigging knowledge. In really small studios (ones with a dozen or fewer workers), I can practically guarantee you that modelers are expected to double as riggers.
Taric's hair walked so Lee's ponytail could gallop. hehehe Edit: 34:20 No, no, no, you don't get it, Udyr deserved a pretty boyfriend, so he can show him off. Udyr is the scarngly one in that relationship.
Was kind of taken aback by what a difference just having the ponytail makes to the Storm Dragon skin. It really does help as an identifying detail for Lee.
I cannot believe how much freeing the ponytail adds to his look, it's a "I didn't know I needed that" moment for sure The acolyte skin colors defintely lost something with the color choice, I get that they were going for Karma vibes but she has her vibrant greens to make her less muted, this skin just makes Lee lok like he's trying to blend into the rift
One thing that they added that I like is since he has new hair tech, his q causes his ponytail to trail behind him like the tail of a comet. Adds a lot more to selling the velocity of the move i think
8:02 Funnily enough if you look at some of the previous concept art they posted they actually tried giving Godfist an "energy ponytail". It looked... kinda wrong to say the least.
What his Q sound misses for me is that its supposed to be a soundwave, like something Lee throws to pinpoint the exact position of his enemy for the kick - hence why the kick follows them. The old one didnt sound nor looked like it either, it felt more like a hadouken reference, but i think its a missed opportunity, since now it feels more like a monk's ki blast, disconnected to the flying kick
Its probably for visibility reasons but missed opportunity to make his new Q a slap on the ground that creates a travelling shockwave or something but that would clash with his E.
@@freshlymemed5680 couldve clapped his hands in front of him for a similar effect, keeping the ki blast thing while giving it that sonic shockwave connotation
The timing with the recent Lee Sin short posted is a prime example of why he was in desperate need of that visual update. Yeah, the story for Lee Sin in that video still wouldn’t help him, but at least one can hope the animation will be a touch smoother for him than how we see him currently.
27:00 as someone who has worked a few 3D models and textures for personal use mods, that shit needs so much work and I've only delved on the basic stuff. I imagine working on full projects from scratch is much, much more taxing.
The lack of clipping is really impressive. If you look at Fiddlesticks, there's a shitton of clipping going on and his update isnt that old yet is it?...It's from 2020.
Bro i listen to this while a play wow and there was some instances where you were silent for a couple seconds and I was thinking that my internet connection was acting up
I love Lee sin's flying kick on the original Q2. It gave me some amusement seeing him zoom in like he was on wires. Made the feeling of getting ganked by him much more bearable.
Its insane the level of detail and effort this ASU is getting and I really hope this is the level of detail future ASU/VGU's get in the future. Iirc Ahri's ASU still has tail clipping issues.
The "naked" model is such a basic idea but it is one of those things that nobody outside the business would even think about, I always love learning those about each job Also fck Zenith Games, one of the most forgettable skin lines
I will try to watch this later, but, as I read the dev post, I could only think about Pentakill III Yorick and his hat (or lack of) with all the silhouette talk, ponytail and iconic cap on Knock Out Lee Sin
In regards to Playmaker Lee Sin throwing the ball, there are times in said sport where players will throw the ball like throw-ins. That will be my cope.
To be fair, it's very easy to criticize a lot of things Riot do, in many of their products, still waiting for skins with things like paint or ink to have the champs looking messy and stained and not flawless and clear, specially the women.
8:56 God Fist could have a ribbon, Dragon fist could have a white headband with long tails, Knockout is tricky but maybe like trail of stars or idk i am reaching with that one
So a popular champion can keep their looks after 13 years but Skarner has to be completely wiped from existence? Alright then, I'm not mad, not at all.
I think it is a stupid waste of resources personally when other creatures are allowed to exist in their wizard101 states on the rift, I seem to be in the minority with this opinion though
Let us have pretty male champions! Please! Not everyone has to be rugged and middle aged. Also, I am now convinced Skyen has never seen a man in his mid to late 20s because the new Lee is reading HEAVILY as mid 30s.
i dont understand why im the only one mad about this asu. there are characters like corki or gragas that have been desperately needing a visual update for years and they chose to do lee sin?! who tf makes these decisions?
Not to sound braggy but i never saw any visiual clarity with Storm dragon lee sin. There werent any other champions who looked close enough to him to confuse him with.
When Zenith Games Lee Sin came out I thought about buying it but ultimately decided not to because I dont play Lee Sin unless I get him once in a blue moon in ARAM. Now with the ponytail being added I'm so fucking relieved I didn't buy it, completely massacred that skin with a ponytail 🤐
