Soundtrack is in the description folks, enjoy You might notice that there are a lot of clips, particularly at the end of RL stuff. Unfortunately the overall story we told didnt come out well on camera so we decided to drop it but it made for some nice bloopers
I've been a fan of your videos for quite some time now (bout 3 years) and I'm absolutely honored to see that you used my footage in this video. Thanks a million, keep up the great work!
Me in Vanilla: < I want to make an arcane mage because Lore & Style. Please help > Everyone responding: < Here is the frost mage build you requested > I left.
@@Wellshem Unfortunately it's not the elitists to blame when it comes to "Arcane spec" its Blizzard. It's not even a real spec, all the talents just supplement fire/frost. Thankfully in tbc classic its a real spec.
+jwbartle If I don't remember incorrectly he has done 5 legacy of the class videos. Considering that there is 9-10 classes with some sort of legacy, it shouldn't be surpricing that yours is one being covered.
Preacher i simply loves your work on especially these videos, they are so well done. They capture some of the most loveable things about World of Warcraft and the journey of it. I know they take a lot of time and not many can do those like you do. Sadly many streamers on World of Warcraft have lured them selves into money making and doing almost no real work just stream basic play.. But i must say i have never seen a more dedicated streamer. I Salute your work and i am gratefull for having the chance to watch em. Thanks.
+Coach McGuirk Yeah, Vurtne was amazing. No one knew how to PvP properly back then, but he was like a player from the future traveled back in time, the only mage who realized how to push his class to the limit.
As a mage since January 2005, this is a good view at the history of the class. I've often considered leaving the class to play another, but I have toughed it out through the dark times (like being stuck on team 2 for all of TBC) and the bright (downing Deathwing as Fire while the content was still current and playing frost through all of Siege of Orgrimmar and being able to Ice Lance Garrosh in the face). This expansion didn't start off so hot for us, but I can do excellent damage as frost or arcane. I now have four months to choose a spec to play next expansion, and that is going to be my biggest struggle to date. My hope is that you'll make a Legacy of the Druid or Shaman soon.
Hi, I'm Erica Stone, and I levelled from 1-90 as fire, with my mage being the first character I levelled through every expansion. I know, I could have done so many great things if I took those countless hours lost and levelled a warrior instead.
While full Arcane was garbage in vanilla PvE, it's completely untrue that the tree was useless. By far the best raiding spec early in the game (pre-Naxx40) was 28/0/23 Arcane/Frost. The deep Frost talents did basically nothing to boost damage, so you took the deeper arcane talents like Arcane Instability (3% Dmg/Crit Chance). It also gave you things like the mana regen talent, which was actually important up until Wrath. Then you had the AP PoM Pyro PvP spec which was infamous for 1-shotting people with double trinket proc.
Reece Swaby It was extremely OP, but it was also fairly rare since you needed ZHC and/or ToEP to make Pyro hit hard enough to be worthwhile. I was in full T3 on my mage at the end of vanilla and for me, full fire almost accomplished the same thing burst-wise, but was WAY more consistent. Fireball was essentially a 1-shot on a crit unless the opponent had full PvP gear. It was quite fun!
+JohnnyFireFlame wizards in the LotR universe are more like low level angels sent by the gods to aid the humans deal with all the stuff the bad guys did. CGP grey did a great video on this
I don't know either but to me Wizard suggests being 'wise and have deep knowledge of advanced magic' and Mage suggests more combat oriented magic. But that's just the impression I have got from being a fantasy story/game fan for many years. I don't think there is a definitive answer.
Well in the dnd universe there is both wizard and mage. You can sum up the mage to be a reckless caster that is more aligned lawful or chaotic while wizard seems to be more wise and be more neutral.
they're the same thing in DnD. It just depends on what the local culture calls it. Though in older editions Wizard was an archtype (no armored caster of arcane magic with poor combat skills), while Mage typically referred to a Generalist Wizard, while a more specialized branch of study would be a Conjuror or Diviner etc depending on their primary school of study.
I'm someone who started playing the week of release for vanilla and I remember all of this shit. Some good memories even when the game was screwed up still look back on it fondly. I love your Legacy videos watched them all a couple twice. You should keep doing them and finish up the expansions each with there own video. I'd watch them all
Another great Legacy video, can't wait for the hunter! Am I the only one that loves the new "choke slam Preach" at the end of these videos? Funny as hell! xD
yes i loved the fact that horde and alliance had there own classes and that raiding and pvp was different depending on your faction and shamans were very fun to level and pvp with
MyViolador We are more then a walking raid buff! We the spiritual might of the horde! The powerful battle clerics of WoW with spell and axe! The world itself it at our command. Instead of enslaving the elements like a mage we commune with them. We ask and they obey. That and we LOVE WOLVES!
I've never felt so much nostalgia as I have watching Yor'sahj fire mage, THAT fight is where I fell in love with raiding, and more specifically fire mages. You summarised perfectly, getting that top tier combustion timed with an Impact proc to spread to the Black Bloods... Uh thats what made memorable moments even if the final DPS wasn't cutting edge, it was good but not the very top, but NO other class had moments quite like a combustion when the stars aligned. It repeated in SoO at Tortos trying to spread combustion to the 3 sub-turtles and as shown here, Korkron Dark Shamans. I have never felt such love for any gaming ability as I have Combustion, and to a lesser extent, Living bomb, spreading over raids like a fiery plague. The changes to DoT's and timed buffs have made it much more disengaging, requiring less planning and skill although us mages will always have the crazy memories. It just makes me wish for the old times or that I'd recorded my old raid progression just to look through now. Good job on the video Preach, you've nostalgia'd me so hard.
I've been a mage since 2007, and this video was simply fantastic. What a wonderful work you did here! Loved the information and the memories, thank you!
30:03 Ya know, given how Preach has been playing a Black Mage in FF14 lately, it's gonna be kind of funny coming back to this bit once he unlocks Leylines there, lol.
@@chrisbullivant8843 Probably not, not sure. Likely because Black Mage is actually designed to be very stationary compared to Mage who has all those movement tools.
Holla Preacher, I'm currently 26 minutes in when you start talking about combustion, the clip with all the numbers going off reminds me of my "moment of glory" I had playing an Enhance Shaman in MoP, everytime we'd do Stormstout Brewery I'd spread my Flame Shock to the stupid high number of monkeys before the first boss and then abuse the living shit out of my Fire Nova key and sky rocket to the top of the damage charts, it never got old seeing numbers covering my entire screen.
Legacy of the priest is what I'm looking for, mate. The king of the ring when it comes to healing, and the coolest changes coming in legion, with shadow looking like a blast to handle
Great video Peach! As a mage main that started late MoP (yeah, really), this was really interesting. I'm a little upset you didn't mention the Mannoroth trinket during the WoD, as I personally hate that as much as I hate rune of power.
HOLY CRAP! These Legacy videos are pure boss, the music, the nostalgic, everything! But how could you forget the legendary Arcane mage, orange marmalade in tbc! Bring back the good old days!
Totally overlooked Arcane with 2pT5 back in BC. For a while there, this made Arcane the best spec and it was one of the most fun specs to play since it was all about managing your mana across a boss fight. The goal was always to pump out as many Arcane Blasts without going OOM before the boss died. Having a boss drop right as your mana just about hit 0 was really fulfilling.
+Preach Gaming Remember, Monkeybeer from Champion of The Gods? he was a Mage and the only person to ever 1shot my Rogue during vanilla wow with a double trinket Frostbolt. He crit me for 4300.
Preach Gaming I was on horde side :) Warlock named Coldheat wasn't much of a raider tho. I was young and didn't have stable connection or dedicated computer so didn't really do well without a proper guild. Looking back, I regret that :S
Hey preach i just wanted so say that i love your legacy videos!! It´s just so much fun for me, as a Player who joined wow in cata to see how the classes played in the "good old times" ;) :D I wish you the best luck, and hope to see more of it! (maybe with a Little luck the druid might be the next chosen class :P
cata was such a glorious time as a mage, and you picked the most fitting soundtrack! when that combustion dropped, im fairly certain every long-time mage that saw this video came a little inside haha
So in short. Vanilla Mages: Alright you lowly peons.. allow me to CC those adds and provide you all bountiful food and drinks. Yes yes.. I am your King. TBC Mage: *Leans against a wall in Stormwind looking at Trade chat or Looking for Group to see if there's a spot needed.* Wrath Mage: Alright I just gotta manage my debuff for top DPS in Arc- *Derp Healer dispels it.* -SON OF A BITCH! Cata Mage: DO YOU LIKE TO PLAY WITH FIRE?!!?! Also [Wait you're fire we need you arcane.] "But Arcane is boring." /GKICK! MoP Mage: *Stands perfectly still in Rune of Power* [Hey Mage! Shen's dropping his hammer to you!] *Stares blankly only to move to steps to the side only for the spell to miss.* WoD Mage: All my specs have been homogenized so much that it makes Arcane look better in comparison. Mages Overall: Frost Bolt, Frost Nova, Blink, Repeat.
This one was fucking brilliantly made. The way the C&C Theme was sync'd to all them mad fucking numbers was insane, then Preach popping up and going "nononono, watch this again" made me fucking lol so hard.
Thanks for this great video! I've played every class in the game, and Mage was my favorite! Since vanilla my main was an Arcane Mage, and I never had any regrets!
I can't believe that you completelly ignored the POM pyro instagibs in vanilla pvp when mentioning hybrid specs. Fantastic video though, as someone who only played mage till like 40 in vanilla and never again I didn't think i'd watch this through. Yet here I am. Well done!
