BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ) - As #legend goes, there is #treasure hidden in the hills of #bedford after an adventurer brought his gold to the region in the 1800s.
Here @ Home unpacked the details of that legend with Beale’s Brewery Sales Director Chad Hester.
He explained that Thomas J. Beale was on an expedition out west when he discovered gold and decided to bring it back to his hometown of Bedford.
Beale had created ciphers to describe the location, what was in the treasure and to whom it belonged. Two of those ciphers have been decoded, but the location was never discovered and legend goes the treasure is still out there today.
Beale’s Brewery has used the story as inspiration for its taproom and brand, naming one of its popular brews Beale’s Gold.
The brewery invites any adventurer searching for the treasure to make a stop at the taproom to enjoy food, drink and entertainment.
