+Because I'mbatman The intro in the black and brown forum seemed to be a hit piece, obsessing about his age (his age strikes me as irrelevant - people today are living longer than ever before, so zero surprise that our leaders would be older than they've been in the past). More relevant would have been: - He led a sit-in against segregated housing in 1962 - He marched on Washington in the MLK rally in 1963 - He has a 100% rating from the NAACP - In the 1970s he called for abolishing prohibitions on drugs and homosexuality, and for free healthcare for all - He voted against Bill Clinton's ban on same-sex marriage (DOMA) in 1996
+NZStarlight I still cannot wrap my head around the idea that there might actually be a guy who spent 50+ years in politics without loosing his personal integrity. That's like a small miracle Question is if he would be able to do any good with both houses run by (or rather; blockaded by) the reps
+Fulgrim88 Even if the Reps blocked 100% of Dem policies in congress, a Dem president would still have almost complete control of the war on terror. There's a big difference between Sanders and Clinton as to how much war they want. Clinton has always voted for war, and advocated for more interventions. In the last debate she said she was happy to expand the war on terror to wherever the terrorists were 'from North Africa to South Asia and beyond'. She also wants to impose a no-fly zone in Syria that will likely force a confrontation with Russia there. Sanders has been pretty anti-war, and non-interventionist, voting against both wars in Iraq, and thinks the US should only use military force when attacked or as part of a UN intervention force. He has repeatedly expressed concerns about the financial costs of war, the problems of healthcare for injured veterans, and the way the US's interventions create more terrorism by leaving power vacuums in destabilized regions.
Notice how few laughs this got compared to the usual bits Trevor Noah does. Most people in that audience believe in his message - I love this show, but this is a little tasteless. Senator Sanders worked his way up from very humble beginnings and has never run a negative campaign ad in his political career. He deserves more respect for the honest man he is.
I'm gonna miss that guy. I'll never forget for the rest of my life that in my generation, the biggest mistake Americans ever made during election year was to turn their backs to Bernie Sanders. Like, my generation ACTUALLY did this. Unbelievable. I was a fan of that man before he even ran for president. And the best part about him, he's been singing the same tune for decades. You can watch a video of Bernie Sanders right now from the early 90s, 80s and he will be saying things that STILL apply today! It's just a real damn shame. All of the empirical evidence that makes these last two the laughing stock of the century and they still chose them. Now it's a matter of choosing the "Lesser evil"... Shame... A real damn shame. I bust out laughing almost every time someone tells me the things they like about Trump and Hillary. But I don't hate them for it. Just like religion, people follow things that don't exist, so why should we be surprised? lol
and yet the likes of you and me get yelled at and accused of being inhuman murderers by the masses that's bought into the propaganda made by the slave owners
+Templedelagloire you're confusing Capitalism with the Global Monopolism we have right now. The Capitalism that the Roosevelts left us with was the true promise of capitalism and our parents let it slip away
He meant slave labor camps that all the countries that started becoming socialist emplemented. All communists state started as socialist. And just off the top of my mind, Gulag in Soviet Russia
.... smh.... America hasn't been a country for 500 years. so it was redundant to say 500 years... or forever. and no. just no. how about Jon Adams? Thomas Jefferson? George Washington? lol some on. only from a bernout.
xlioilx I forgot people like you exist. Instead of helping and encouraging lazy and people who have lost hope its better to just leave people with no help and expect them to figure it out. Its like you never had a mother.
Bob Bobby Well, unless you're one of the top 10% of income earners in the country you'll only see your taxes go down. Pretty sure you've got nothing but tax cuts waiting for you when Mr. Sanders becomes POTUS. #VoteBernieSanders2016
+Bob Bobby Your taxes won't be affected, unless you fall into the top tax bracket. But your country will be affected, if anyone but Sanders gets elected. Your country should come before your taxes, not the other way around.
+Bob Bobby Even IF your taxes go up a little bit. The money you'd be saving in Healthcare, education, medication would make up for it and then some. You'd be saving money in the long run.
***** With the people behind him, which they overwhelmingly are, we will get the huge, beneficial change Mr. Sanders proposes. Watch and learn skippy, watch and learn. #VoteBernieSanders2016
yeah ...well, better be hilary than trump ! Bernie has said from the start he would endorse clinton if she won over him. Hilary is stilla a better choice than trump...
Harrison Shone that was the most misguided attack in this whole video, Bernie is JUST a policy wonk but his would bring the money down from the 1% to help the middle class etc. Trevor was the one who didn't know Bernie's policies or does and intentionally mislead people because of Comedy Central's parent company being ONE of Hillary's top donor...
+Sean Conrad if you can't feel the bern maybe youve been listening to nobel economic analysts such as milton friedman or thomas sowell who have told you that it doesnt work in reality.
+Tom Howard I seem to remember a nobel peace prize going to Obama for his remarkably efficient use of drones on 90% civilian casualties and 8-years of continued military occupation. It's seems a little like the Oscars to me.
+Tom Howard Forbes.com excerpt : "Friedman’s article was ferocious. Any business executives who pursued a goal other than making money were, he said, “unwitting puppets of the intellectual forces that have been undermining the basis of a free society these past decades.” They were guilty of “analytical looseness and lack of rigor.” They had even turned themselves into “unelected government officials” who were illegally taxing employers and customers." As nice as his ideals were, he was in his sixties in the seventies, not as a social advocate but as an advocate for money above all else. It exists in the corporate structure that Profits are more holy than anything can be, and that all gravity in the universe revolves around profits. He freaking started that idea, and, although it was super powerful for the making of money, since his invention the middle class has shrunk, inflation has continued, homes have been foreclosed upon, and, most of all, environmental devastation has been rampant as corporate interests rest on the sociological ideal that their profits are greater in importance than any humanitarian work or collateral damages, so long as the perceived financial effect of those are accounted for.
the statement from 4:47 is also questionable in itself: www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2015/09/15/no-bernie-sanders-is-not-going-to-bankrupt-america-to-the-tune-of-18-trillion/
+Draconisraa This is Trevor's first year, Jon had years and years to perfect his craft. Please be patient, he's a really talented and funny guy. He'll get there given the time.
I think to a Bernie supporter it comes off as funny good natured free press but if you slant to another candidate it comes off as a negative kind of mockery.
I think Sanders is honest too. He was the only candidate who talked about student loan etc. Just finished Grad school with a student loan debt of almost 80 thousand .
@@NiceGuyCody I've seen the photos. Though whether he chained himself to them or to the location where they were protesting (like to a statue) so they couldn't be drug off by police without some difficulty, was something I couldn't remember. See, what happened was that they'd drag away his friends & would leave him alone so he didn't want that to happen. He was protecting them from getting arrested with the chains. Essentially saying, "you can't drag them away without taking me too."
Trevor Noah, after your comments on the first Dem Debate, it's clear you are a Hillary supporter. That's minus 1000 points in likability and respect. I had been looking for a reason The Daily Show was still a great show too, but you keep on bringing it down.
+c triana To be fair, that's more due to Comedy Central's owners being a big Clinton Campaign donor than it being Trevor Noah. I want to say Jon Stewart was well-established enough to stand up to that, but unfortunately, I am nowhere near sure enough to actually say it.
+c triana Remember, this is a comedy show first and a political show second. Plus the fact that the show uses a team of writers to make the show's script so what comes out of Trevor's mouth is not necessarily his.
+Under 2 Degrees yeah I know. I'm talking about the "that's minus 1000 points in likability and respect." part just because they have a different political view. I don't know why people do that. It's dumb to me
I like to move it, move it....And? I’m Muslim. I’m voting Bernie Sanders. I don’t agree with all of his policies, but the major ones I support (mostly Medicare for all), and making college affordable. I don’t think that he would be able to get free public college any time soon, but I think once you get people behind an idea, it opens the door. If healthcare costs and higher education costs could go down, it would help so many families.
Is trevor trying to make fun of Bernie cause its not really working lol, everything he saids about Bernie sounds postive even the song didn't sound cringy
Majestic AF he's making fun of him the same way he makes fun of other candidates. In this case he's even holding back. you're sounding like a fanatic trump supporter
Is it just me or do you notice this show trying to ridiculize Bernie in favor of Hillary? Last week Trevor said we are just waiting for the republican nominee with a picture of Clinton on his side... "hahaha" but for me this show has its agenda on the Hillary side... What a shame... I bet Jon Stewart would've gone the Bernie way #FeelTheBern
Like millions of viewers in the United States and across the globe, I depended upon Jon Stewart, night after night, to excoriate people in high places who had messed with ordinary people during the day. Bernie is someone Jon would have supported. The lack of political perspective makes the show less funny.
+James Onen gratz on being in that 10% hater Club. It's pretty exclusive But keep in mind this show was gradually withering Jon away to nothing for your entertainment.
+Jonathan D we also could stay capitalists and shit on humans and their rights as they don't bring any money. Let us be governed by multinational companies that dictate our politics. The truth my friend is always somewhere in between.
You know the Democratic party is dying when they stop progressives from doing good and honest work. This video says it all honestly for me. Now America is doomed.
ShawnMJ Babcock he's punching down and that's not funny at all. It's just Trevor presenting facts and he's so fucking wrong... Also Bernie was ONLY popular for his policies, this whole video is just a Hillary for president ad.
Very disappointing to see Trevor stooping to using cost figures by a Murdoch paper that were debunked by many including the very economist who's work they partially cited to come up with those figures.
+Will Price what's wrong with dissenting opinions? Aren't liberals in favor of as many different voices as possible? Why the rush to dismiss it instantly instead of patiently debunking it?...look friend, we can't even trust our own Congressional Budget Office when it comes to Studies and Statistics that aren't cooked or manipulated to benefit the establishment. And that office is *the most Bureaucratic* institution in our exclusively secular number crunching big brother government.
Cinzar MC no (not to say he isn't a bad person, he most certainly is), it just shows that people are wrong when they say "oh he has such good business smarts, look at his big thriving business" when in reality he had a million dollar loan and an already thriving company handed to him by his rich daddy.
+salvador ocampo He insults everyone but Hillary's insults are extremely weak and sometimes complimentary to her. Bernie and Trump are insulted on almost everything, even if it is something that the Daily Show completely agrees with.
4:47 yo Trevor, that "fact" you pointed out that was made by the wall street journal (emphasis on the part that said "wall street") isnt all that straight foward. you guys should have looked into this a bit further: theintercept.com/2015/09/15/wall-street-journals-scary-bernie-sanders-price-tag-ignores-health-savings/
+ Gordogunso When those numbers first came out someone pointed out that the cost of Medicare and Medicaid over that same period would be the same amount. (based on current trends)
+digitalbookworm5678 Really, cause according to the article, 'The entire point of a single-payer health care plan, aside from covering everyone in the country, is to minimize costs, by reducing administrative bureaucracy, the profit motive and middlemen. It costs far less than the current system, which spends more per capita than any developed health system in the world'. And also, 'Accounting for cost inflation in health care and extending that out for 10 years, on our current trajectory we would spend more than $30 trillion, compared to the $15 trillion of a single-payer plan, which would totally supplant it'.
You're so right about the Post Office! I can't believe I'm here after the election and his election was stolen and we now have Trump. I hope he really runs in 2020.
Over the past year, Bernie has gained monumental support from a populace sick of establishment politics. The enthusiasm for him is unlike anything ever seen. But that enthusiasm means nothing if we don't turn out to vote in our state's primary/caucus. *Believe it or not, THIS is the most important step toward getting Bernie elected*. Visit the link below to check the date of your state's event and make sure you meet all the requirements to vote. We've got this! #feelthebern voteforbernie.org
I live a half hour from Burlington, and that album thing is true. They were going to record him singing them, but it turned out that he was basically tone deaf, so they just had him speak it. I remember Bernie coming to the local harvest market in 2011 and even taking a picture with him. It's really amazing that he's come this far. Go Bernie!
Still hate the fact that clearly comedy central still has it's head way up Hillary's ass and won't insult her but will make fun of Sanders but at least he is getting more coverage because with Sanders any publicity really is good publicity as he isn't a controversial individual. He has principals he has stood by his whole life, he speaks the word of the people, and he is all around a good guy who has always been on the right side of issues. #Bernie2016
Jon Stewart's biggest blunder was passing on such an important living platform to someone so sub-par. A sad stain on Stewart's otherwise shining legacy. It's like he drops the mic, but the mic breaks and everyone has to go home disappointed.
Before you think about anything else after reading this, remember that you are not a sheep. Your thoughts, fears, judgements, and decisions are yours and yours alone. Be proud of them and do not let others live your life. Take a second and step back, far enough so you can see what is going on right now with all the politics. This is real future-life-changing stuff. It is important and it matters. This election year is amazing because everyone is really getting involved. And now that everyone is here on the playing field, the "wolves" will want their "sheep" to follow them to their demise. Who are the wolves, and who are the sheep? If you are neither, we are glad to have you here, fighting the good fight. For justice, for peace, for equality, for happiness, for love, for family, for fairness, for health, our Earth, and for the future. Go for it , Bernie Sanders, and thank you, for bringing us together, and letting us hop on your shoulders so we can see that our beautiful country needs us, now more than ever. We, the people, are the powerful leaders of our country. Our voices are powerful, our hearts and dreams are powerful, our mind's hold the key to everything. Thank you for believing in us, Bernie. You never backed down, neither will we.
On a regular basis I see a lot of comments on the internet along the lines of "lost hope in humanity". Well every time I see a young person who is a big Bernie supporter I can't help but feel the complete opposite. There is hope for our future and it lays with Bernie Sanders and the young people in our country. I remember being 17 and not being able to vote against George W. Bush because I wouldn't be 18 for another 2 weeks. Seeing people who are just as adamant about necessary change as I am in my 33 jaded years of being alive gives me more hope than I can't really put into words. Thank you.
Edgar Cervantes I agree 100%, one SuperDelegate vote can literally cancel out thousands of "regular" voters. Voter Suppresion: > Republicans = Voter ID Laws > Democrats = SuperDelegates
+Daniel Baker Unfortunately, many Americans don't want to think too hard about politics and have zero empathy for their fellow citizens. We are a greedy, afraid, and selfish people, and it is reflected in the state of political discourse in our "great country".
+Curtis Hammer That's true. We live in a country where their weekends, holidays, and short-lived vacations are more important than their politics. A new mixtape, new episode of a reality TV show, or the newest iPhone are all more important to the majority of our people than the system, politics, economy, Healthcare and academics are.
The author of the study that the WSJ cited, Gerald Friedman, wrote an open letter to the WSJ explaining to them that they grossly misrepresented his findings. They neglected to mention that this particular plan would be cheaper than our current healthcare system if we allowed it to remain the way it is. In simpler terms, this plan costs less. Trevor your team lied by not doing their job as journalists. Plain and simple.
That Sanders song made me listen to the old Walter Brennan song Old Rivers lolol!! Dont ask me why. "One of these days I'm gonna climb that mountain, walk up there among them coulds where the cotton's high, and the corn's a-growing and there ain't no fields to plow" :D :D Its that folksy feel and something in their voices I guess.
Holy shit, this guy sounds like a Michael D. Higgins that can do things, I kinda want to become American and vote for him. Honestly I think if he doesn't get in you won't get an opportunity like this for a very long time.
This makes sense. He was the major of Burlington so it would make sense that he was trying to support the other 30 local artists featured on this album.
