@@projectawesome5675 you probably say that because he's been all over sports media recently, but I've been a brees fan for the better portion of a decade, and I promise you he's never gotten the recognition he deserves. for example, i didn't see him appear in any top 10 qbs of all time lists until like last year even though he's been easily top 5 for a long time. he's the only qb to throw for 5000 yards more than once, he's the fastest qb to reach 40, 50, and 60 thousand yards, he holds the record for longest streak with a td pass, he had about 10 seasons in a row with at least 30 td passes, which no qb has ever done, he has the highest career and single season completion percentage, and he's top 10 all time in comebacks, passer rating, td:int, yards, touchdowns, completions, etc. most importanly, he's one of only two qb's ever to win the super bowl without a top 10 defense. the man single-handedly took the saints from being "the aints" to winning a super bowl. he ressurected the franchise and the city, after suffering a supposedly career ending injury and being left to dry. ALL of this is before the last few seasons and just off the top of my head (to be fair I am a hardcore brees fan). now, he also has the record for all time completions and passing yards, and he is third all time in passer rating. the only reason he hasn't won mvp is because he is possibly the unluckiest quarterback of all time. every time he has an mvp-caliber season (which is basically always) someone always has a slighty better season on some way. not to mention, his defense and special teams have CONSTANTLY let him down, and I'm not just talking about the divisional round miracle last season. Remember the broncos game where he threw the game winning td pass against the #1 defense in the broncos and all the saints had to do was kick the extra point to win, but instead it got blocked and returned for a 2 point conversion the other way which resulted in a 1 point win for the broncos? or how about the time brees' offense had the same career ppg average as tom brady's patriots, yet had a worse record than brady because the defense was literally twice as bad? maybe you remember when the saints are in arguably the toughest division in football? it is revolting that brees hasn't been in the GOAT conversation until now, so respectfully, don't you dare say the dude gets over credited. if you want overcredited, look at tom brady, ben roethlisberger, or cam newton. brady is certainly in the goat conversation and the others are certainly not bad, but they definitely get too much credit. i wont get into that today though.
