The story of the trusty dog Gelert who was killed by his master Prince Llewlyn the Great, when he mistakenly assumed that he had killed his baby, but It was a wolf that had killed his child and Gelert had saved the child by fighting off the wolf.
This is an Update to my previous version of this story, I've learned a lot about video editing since then and I believe this story which has been with me since I was a child deserved a more up to date version.

It's a sad story but with a good moral. It tells us to always check our facts. Thank you for the comment.

As a junior schoolboy in the late 1950, the headmaster would tell the entire school this story at assembly, just about every year: it had a great effect on me for the rest of my life.

Makes you wonder doesn't it, I find it's in most animals to be loyal once you gain their trust.

Such a great story, one of my favorite dog stories. Thank you for uploading this and for sharing the story of Gelert. Reminds me of the bittersweet tale of the dog Hachiko, who would accompany his master to the train depot and wait for him to return. Hachiko continued waiting at the train platform everyday, for nine years after his master had died after leaving for work. Also I thoroughly enjoyed your video, I have subscribed and look forward to watching more.

Thank you, I didn't know the story about Hachiko, tells us much about the loyalty of dogs and of other animals too, thanks for the story and for subscribing.

@@KitoTodd Your very welcome. The Welsh side of the equation is very rich in history and mythology. Though a lot has been forgotten or neglected which really is a crying shame. We'll do our best to try to bring some of those stories and lost culture back to life.

@@TheBrythonicPantheon I'm happy you're hard at work preserving the isle people's culture, without people like you people in the future might lose touch with the amazingly beautiful and kind culture One that was often persecuted and brought into conflicts but never faulted to identifying themselves as a people devolved to constant victimhood. I'm so sad about the identitarianism that's taken over this postmodern society.. I'm really wondering why can't people just conserve their cultures in quiet and instead choose to focus on the amazing literature and arts and also practical engineering and linguistic developments (?) I think the mass distraction media and shallow mainstream hobbies have put all the youth and really even our generations into a strange zeitgeist I have a highly nuanced identity that I'd lov to share about so humbly and in sharing perhaps I could apprentice the youth about but they seem to have little interest outside of taking photos of themselves looking mock-glorious or spending money on experiences that they seem to quickly forget about The rest of them are poor from their parents chasing the welfare state and the economy being in such strange times, so these kinds don't have anything to utter but despair And I can at least rationally speak with these types but they've usually got no sense of spirituality to improve their perspective about the troubles of immanence, and it's not easy overcoming their cultural nihilism I'm told about "doomers" and "black pills" by some kids I know, they seem to scroll on websites for their memes just to laugh for a moment here and there It's really quite concerning to me Sorry! I'm noticing that I've begun ranting on a soapbox now (chuckling) But I think these words are well meant and precise anyway I'll be coming around here and there to see your work. Thanks again! - Your Quality Apologist

@@yqafree I think more people would appreciate the culture if they knew more about it. We have a very rich culture, even though much has been lost. Some of what was once lost is being rediscovered. I hope I can do my bit to pass some of it on.
