Extended version of the Sen no Kiseki II battle theme, which now has a title of "Heated Mind". =) If you have a request for a video game song that hasn't been extended on RU-vid yet, feel free to ask.
The re-balance to combat, the way CS1 ended and the fact that, having played the two games back to back, something hits different when you first hear this theme - alone, none of your Orbments and none of your friends with a clearly broken Rean - it's like he's truly hit his lowest point. Once you e got everyone back though, it becomes like a reminder of why everyone was separated and what needs to be done Few endings will hurt as much as every Trails game does. Here I was thinking Sky SC and CS2 has a sad ending, CS3 just slaps you in the face lol
After the emotional rollercoaster of the CS1 ending this song seems to set a somber tone, but then as you progress through the game it suddenly dawns on you how hopeful it sounds as well.
@Henrique Vasconcelos Makes sense having played Sky and Crossbell recently to prepare for CS4 the Cold Steel has a weaker arc compared to them but it's still pretty good tho
@Henrique Vasconcelos I feel the same for Sky. If those were the first games I played, I don't think I'd be into the series as much. Glad I skipped from FC to CS1 then came back. Still waiting to play Crossbell games tho, everyone hypes them up so we'll see if they meet the expectations
Honestly, ever since Ys I just trust Falcom to deliver quality music just like this one. It's kinda like seeing the name "Daisuke Ishiwatari" and thinking "Kickass, Rocking Tune. Also Belts."
Finally i'm playing Ao no kiseki and looking at Olivier talking about the Civil War in Erebonia which was happening in that moment with the SSS was fucking awesome.
I played in the opposite order from you (Zero > Ao > CS1 > CS2) and seeing the dome above Crossbell City from the ruins of Garellia Fortress was just crazy. Also gotta love how around the same time Class VII is aboard the Courageous, the SSS is aboard Wazy's Merkabah.
I cleared Trails of Cold Steel, and I loved it. The characters, the story, the world building, and everything was amazing. Yet, I don’t know why, but I waited one year to get the second game. After refreshing myself on the story and the characters, I immediately jumped in ready to stand by Rean’s side as he tried to look for his lost friends. When I entered my first battle, I heard this battle theme and I thought “Oh, this is gonna be good.”
@@GamingTranceSeer To be honest, I'm in love with "Tie a Link of ARCUS!" I daresay it might be the best soundtrack in the entire series, but Heated Mind always gives me a feeling of satisfaction everytime I hear it.
@@raijoukonishi9868 Tie a link of arcus is one of the very first themes I feel in love with when I first started playing this series. But as for regular battle themes Seize the truth from Ao is my favourite so far.
@@buttertoast1146I agree CS3 is one of the best games in the series so far followed by Ao no kiseki imo, I can't wait to see what CS4 brings to the table in fall I know it'll be an epic experience
found cold steel 1 on pc, and fell completly in love with it after like 5 hours in, started researching for when cold steel 2 would come, and after around 1 year of waiting and about 3 months of knowing when if would come. i finnaly played cold steel 2 in a weekend. After having waited to long, i got to the first fight on the mountain at the start, and then this song came on in a fight there, and holy, never have been more exited to start a game!
I don't know if I think there's a definitive JRPG series. The best ones all seem to do things better than others. Even older titles like Grandia 2 were masters of super good combat, Final Fantasy is good with spectacle and more bombastic mood, Trails is all about long-term implications and relationships between characters over many, many games, Persona's got the style and more personal relationships, Neptunia is all about being super mediocre and releasing 8 games a year, etc
Same. I used to be super into FF. But after I got into Trails, I barely think about FF. I used to listen to their soundtracks daily. Now? It's Trails jamming all day, every day
@@Xbob42That's true. Many JRPGs that are deemed one of the greats does something that other games don't. Chrono Trigger has unmatched pacing, replay value, and combat system, Persona has unmatched hybrid social-sim/dungeon crawler gameplay, Trails has unmatched worldbuilding, SMT has unmatched mon collection gameplay, and so on and so forth. There are also games that, while people don't necessarily consider masterpieces, offer experiences that other JRPGs simply cannot offer. Atelier for example has robust alchemy mechanics you don't really see in most JRPGs which treat items like an afterthought. You also have the cool pin system and sick art style of the TWEWY series.
Loved the theme in the first game just finally got around to playing the second game yesterday and when this came on I was plesantly pleased to say I enjoyed this just as much if not more.
This is honestly my favorite second game in an arc battle theme in the series. Usually, it takes me a while to acclimate to and start to like the battle theme when moving on from the first game to the second, but this one clicked instantly. Also love how they went absolutely ham on the drums. Really gives this theme a sense of energy despite the obvious melancholy theme.
It's really unecessary the amount of shit people give this song it's really not bad at all people need to chill out, so far it's my favourite battle theme out of the 3 games CS2>CS3>CS1
The fact this game brought back Azure's burst system makes this a goated game alone. I could never go back to CS1 nowadays especially after playing CS3 and 4 but 2 has a reason for me to with its snowboarding minigame and the burst mechanic. With all that said demon unchained is hands down the coolest version of Rean's ogre powers and CS4 is my favorite outfit in the series.
+Marcus Thomas So true, the battle theme for the first one was already really good, but when you hear this one it's like it's the fate of the whole world at your hand, compared to the first battle when it was just like "fun and enjoy" the battle etc...
+TheTomokiSakurai this has the same effect when i think of games like the Grandia, Tales of, Atelier, Artonelico, SaGa and Kingdom hearts series. There has to be in my opinion, a good verity of battle themes to keep things fresh. Not only that, the change in music, also helps the progression of the plot.
Marcus Thomas Yes so true and this is why i love some of these game because a game with shit music is not cool at all. I think i will really import this game just to play it with the Japanese voice. The first game for the English voice are good but in battle like for the S-craft for some of them (like Jusis or Alisa) the voice acting is just...so fucking bad (in my opinion).
gigaganon Bout to be getting it next month along with a PS3. Games that I'm definitely trying are Tales of Zestiria (played the PC version and was already hooked into it), Tales of Xillia 1 & 2, LoHToCS 1 & 2, Lost Dimension, Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, FFX/X-2, FFXIII/XIII-2, Lightning Returns: FFXIII, and many others mostly all of them RPGs.
It's awesome I'm on the chapter where you go to Laura's hometown. So I'm pretty far into the game. It's very entertaining. But I love turn-based RPGs anyways. My favorite characters are probably Fie, Crow, and Millium
Love this battle ost very original and different and tragic sounding. Reminds me a bit how ffxiv shadowbringers styled there boss music for the dungeons.
:D only just over a week left now, it's amazing how much Trails people are getting! And I'm glad people liked CSI cuz Falcom sequels are almost always better to say the least, hahaha
It's really too bad seeing all the people who give up on the first games of an arc when the first game is always Falcom doing heavy world building and character establishing before it gets really good.
What I like the best who voice act in English Dub on S-Crafts move in Trails of Cold Steel 2, it is the game's main protagonist Rean. "Gather on my blade", "aaaahhhhh! striiiiiiike!!!", "my blade will cling to your ignorance", "aaaahhhhh", "Termination Slash - Dawn!!!!"
The dub as a wholeimproved a lot. The VA's were pretty strange at times during the first game, but during the second game all the VA's had the roles nailed to a T.
True. I notice the VA improved mumbling parts in battle. Like Fie's "You're open" and her victory quotes were more clear, same with Elliot's "I'll back you up!" line. In the first game, he sounded like he was saying, "i'llbickouup"
Matthew Tran Reason for that was because the voice clip length allowed in CSI was very small so they had to basically cram their lines in the small time frame.
S e v e N H o p E Was watching the walkthroughs I think Fie might by favorite just by the looks of it. She's so cool looking. Definitely excited to be playing this come next month.
+Steel Seven Me too, i'm in the begining of the 4 chapter now and damn for the look of it, Sen No Kiseki 2 seem amazing and improved for the gameplay part (and damn the ost and story too), but sadly we will not have the Japanese voice for this game too.
Steel Seven I agree that in this game the VA are not that bad compared to some other game (like for me in some of the Tales of), but i was going for some of the S-craft for the first game in English THEN after that in Japanese and damn...this is some real difference for the voice acting (just listen to Alisa S-craft in English and after that in Japanese, so easy to say that the Japanese voice beat her English voice for that one).
Yup, Alisa's English was one of the worse ones. It really brings someone's attention. Sara's English is very on point though. I give her credit for doing that.
Steel Seven Yeah for Sara she did a really good job, and for me the character for the dub who are good in combat are: -Rean -Laura -Elliot -Sara So far i like these one for the skills they use (the voice acting at these moment where using craft/S-craft), but for the other like Alisa or especially Jusis (when he use his S-craft it's like ===> huhuhu!...you're end is sure! CRISTAL SABER!) this make me laugh so hard everytime so i don't really use his S-craft so much. And i'm so upset because for these type of game i just love having the choice to play the game with Japanese or English voice, because right now the English voice are average (and in some scene really good) but seriously the Japanese voice are much better, their voice acting are so perfect.
@@buttertoast1146 well you have a point there and also I agree all of the games in the series are pretty good as well as they especially need to remaster the trails in the sky series
You mean of CS? I don't know, I treat them as the same game but divided in parts, like Sky FC/SC, and Zero/Ao But if I had to say, I would go for 2, since 1 is mostly an introduction to the characters, and Erebonia. Also in CS2 you get a closure to that arc
I loved this song, but it didn't fit in after the prologue. It felt like it belonged to the prologue so deeply that I kind of attached it to Rean's struggle through the initial wasteland peaks, clawing at straws to put things back together. Even at the start I was like "omg this fits so well" but 90% sure they would replace it with the actual battle theme once Rean was back on track. Could just be me though. I feel like if it had no context I'd see it like any other battle theme.
A very unpopular and based from what argument? You can't say a character is trash for no reason, as someone who is trying to play all the games i can say rean is the best protagonist so far though i like all of them
It's not unpopular, most of Kiseki's critic fans/reviewers always claimed part of your opinion. He's the worst protagonist but absolutely not the worst character. Of course when you have to compare Rean to an incredible protagonist as Estelle there's no room even for debate, Lloyd is better but not so much better. The other characters are always poor developed and that's understandable since it's impossible to give proper space in a single game to, like, 15-20 central characters. And with Cold Steel they exaggerated that aspect way too much. Rean's real problem is that the screenwriters wrote the classic "animu" character but he's not so bad as other protagonist from similar franchises. He's not bad, he's just insignificant. But at least they gave him a development of sort. How could he be as bad as an Elliot, Gaius or Machias? P.S. oh, I'd like to clarify that I'm not an hater, I actually love Rean and some of the cutest/badass moments in Cold Steel always revolved around him. It's the general writing of the saga the biggest problem with CS.
I have the first game (i think i will import this game as well because damn the voice acting are amazing with the Japanese voice), but just one month after the end of the first game...man they look so grown up (i mean so much more mature that this is difficult to think this is just after one month).
+TheTomokiSakurai haha, I think part of it is the experience of war but most of it is probably just... they aren't wearing high school clothes anymore, lol. That makes a pretty significant difference, IMO.
