First time I fought the Angel of Slaughter this music started rocking, she instantly got a crit and eviscerated my whole party on the very first turn. 😭
I have wondered for years why no one on the VGM scene has covered this or many other Trails songs for that matter. This, and also, Neclord’s battle from Suikoden 2. This is so awesome!! Well done! Been a fan for years, keep up the great work!
I think because it's still a niche series overall. While NISA has brought a lot more attention to it with CS3/CS4 (the later upcoming), the earlier games got localized WAY too late; we were YEARS behind for a while, and we still don't have an (official) translation for Zero/Ao. But if nothing else: Falcom has *always* nailed it when it comes to their soundtracks, even going back to the Dragon Slayer days. I still have the various versions of the Sorcerian soundtrack in my playlist. :p
Well, most covers use .mid files as a base, and when you google "trails in the sky midi", almost nothing comes up. If someone would turn the game's tracks into midi files, you'd start to see tons of remixes and stuff.
I LOVE THIS SONG LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. But it brings me memories shouting at the screen because of the damn statues petrifying my characters and the girl with her deathblows. HARD FIGHT
Ah yes the most Falcom JDK song that ever Falcom JDKd. Never thought I'd learn to fear the words "Ready or not, here I come!" As much as this track has inspired.
Ah, Fateful Confrontation. This one’s a classic. Never thought I’d see the day when someone I follow would cover something from a Trails game, but this is one of those cases where it’s glad to be proven wrong. Should you ever revisit Trails, “Gravestone Struck by Lightning” from Sky SC or “Don’t Be Defeated by a Friend” from Cold Steel 1 would be my recommendations.
I second this! Although I think Exceed is my fave banger from Cold Steel 1. It would also be amazing if you got to link up with xclassicalcat, marc papeghin for Trails covers.
9 games and counting; there's a reason why the Trails series is called "The MCU of JRPGs". Even the worst games in the series are "very good", with the best (Trails in the Sky SC/Trails to Azure) being among the best JRPGs I've ever played.
@@adolfemmanuelesparas3922 Sorry to ask but....Who? I recognise Jindo, Unisuga, Sonoda, Momiyama and Ryo Takeshita but I haven't come across Takanasu Yasunori :-(
As much as I love this track, I feel like it's the 'no brainer' when it comes to metal covers. I'd really like to hear a metal cover of Sophisticated fight or obstructive existence personally.
Well, the song is originally pretty metal already, so no change is really needed for such a cover. For the other you've mentioned it would take a lot of work to make convincing.
I think i agree here. Absolutely love the song, but it already sounded like a Dream Theater song. Sophisticated Fight would be sweet! I love Infiltration too. These games are amazing
Fuck yes man! This series needs more loving from the VGM community, so many euphoric tunes from the Falcom Sound Team jdk! You killing it man, pls do more!
Thanks for exposing many people to this hidden gem of a game series. Falcom crafts their music just as well as they make games. Please Do more cover for this game series.
I've been listening to this cover quite a bit since it came out. Thanks to this song, I'm finally playing the Trails in the Sky games. I started with Cold Steel without realizing there were games that came before it, but this song made me want to try the older games out, and I did not regret that. All that is to say that this cover kicks ass and I love it. Falcom music is amazing. Edit: I've since completed the Trails in the Sky trilogy, and my appreciation for this song is even greater.
It's always nice to see Falcom metal covers! I encourage you to check out the ost from their other IPs, there are lots of good stuff there that would sound badass with your register! Keep it up!
Love the cover! The Evolution cover of this song always left a really sour taste in my mouth because of it's guitar. This should be the true evolution cover of it.
i would love a cover of unfanthomed force, you already banged fateful confrontation and overdosing heavenly bliss i know you can bang one more trails ost
Bro if I had to I would bribe you to solely do Trails covers for a year and then come out with an album for it. Trails of Cold Steel IV can’t come soon enough 😂 Hell Yeah Dude! Hell Yeah Dude!
Oh man, I scored that game a couple years back on Humble Bundle. Now that I have a job and I'm not broke I need to play it again and then get the sequel! I remember really enjoying it.
Man, got into falcom music recently during quarantine, so this is really good timing! You need to check out azure arbitrator and unfathomed force. Those would make sick covers, always hyped me up to go for a run.
Reminder to play Trails in the Sky if you're into RPGs with great character development and music. If you like it, you will have a lot to look forward to, as there's a whole series of games after it.
@@JRPGforlife Don't forget to play the Crossbell games, they are amazing! (well, the 2nd game is, but the 1st one is also good and is essential to play before the 2nd). They are not officially available in english, but the Geofront fan-localization team made a fantastic patch for the first game (Zero), and is currently working on doing one for the 2nd (Azure).
I feel like this is a sign to finally jump into the trails series. I tried cold steel 1 on a whim on vita, but my memory card is dead, so I haven't been able to play it and persona 4 golden for a while.
I definitely highly recommend it. The gameplay is fun for a PSP game I thought it was layered nicely. The characters in it are great from the main cast to your major and minor npcs. But ngl SC can get pretty challenging but it’s crazy immersive!!
You don't know about Trails? Oh boy, go buy the whole Sky trilogy on steam right now. Best narrative in a JRPG to date. It feels so ahead of it's era in terms of providing a sense of scale and life to its world.
i thought it was pretty underwhelming. kinda had to drop the first trails in the sky about a third of the way in. it didn't help that i lost my save game and couldn't pick it up again later, but i did drop it in the first place so...
@@GraveUypo Wow that sucks. Trails in the sky FC is the prologue lol. The game ends with a huge plot twist and the real meat of the narrative begins in the 2nd game. I would find a way to recover your game
@@GraveUypothis series starts really slow. Basically, the entire first game is a prologue for whole series, and it drops some really big plot twists in the end. Similarly, Zero no Kiseki is a prologue for Ao no Kiseki, and Trails of Cold Steel is a prologue for next three games. It may take a little patience, but the story is really worth it. Almost everything that game shows you plays role in worldbuilding, and some characters are foreshadowed several games before they actually appear.
@@GraveUypo Your loss lol. If you can't appreciate the extension world building, character development, music, scenes, and the overall story that's on you and you alone. And Trails in the Sky is really 1 large game in 3 parts. The payoff you would have had if you kept playing would have been huge.
