I've heard the music from Trails SC on PSP so much that when the theme kicked it with the anime flare, I was hit by a one-two punch of nostalgia and epicness.
My opinion on the OVA: Fantastic remixes (some of the best), great animation, great fight choreography (particularly Valter vs everyone) and funny moments here and there. Also the character designs were kept simple here for more fluent animation. That being said, it skips a lot of stuff, it doesn't even cover the entire story, not every character gets the detail they deserve (Hell, Renne went from an energetic, smart ass girl to the silent generic little girl that we see in every anime) etc etc... Overall, I like it but as an extra. Like, I might watch it after playing the first two games.
Funny thing is that, the way game is created and its story presented, we could have few quite good seasons from FC alone. I mean cmon. 1-2 20-25 minute episode format per small story. Few stories like that and you could have quite nice season from it. Every chapter of the game has its own highlights from side to main quest that you can fill into 2 episode stories interconnecting with each other later on. Honestly it could have been quite long and good series...
Zin is in this opening, but he is NOT IN THE ACTUAL OVA, which is a fucking crime. Same for Luciola, Hamel, fucking *Weissman* - Absolutely insane shit.
In my opinion this song and the animation is good but everything is just that you can't make a hour long movie from a 60+ hour game and expect it to work For example: if anyone has watched the persona 3 movies the whole game is condensed between those movies if they did something like that i could see it working.
I'd say it really doesn't matter. There's absolutely no way any animation can ever cram as much worldbuilding and lore into each episode as there is in the games. So why not just play the games instead? Besides, if you're watching this anime, you likely played at least SOME of the games before; it looks unbelievably generic and uninteresting to anyone who's never played Trails. Which is precisely why the anime failed to profit to begin with xD.
@@mamayareborn you're riiiight! But I won't deny that I'm still hoping there would be an animation studio that is willing to make a decent storyline & high quality animation for this game. The story could be a little different, maybe kinda like Zestiria? A little change here and there so it will be more suitable as an anime... 😳 It would be soo cool... Maybe it will turns out a little bit disappointing too since I really love the game, but the weebs in me couldn't stop thinking about that ahahah
Maia I actually kind of disagree. We had some anime series before with a lot of world building and detail like for example The legend of the galactic heroes or Hunter x Hunter to a certain extent. An anime studio should at the minimum be able to make a Trails in the sky adaptation of the first game for like 60 episodes or 70 just like Hunter x Hunter 2011 and be a great adaptation. Maybe they could even do something similar like an anime like Re Zero who constantly skips the opening and ending theme and that it gets some longer episodes sometimes, so if they want to focus an episode on side quests from the game or to developer side characters they could do that well. The first season could just be adapting the first game in the series and than maybe two years later they could adapt the second game and than continue the series with that schedule.
I think a better idea would be small vignettes of the story. Imagine just a 10 min short about Agate or the Ymir incident we only got to hear about in the audio drama. Little extra bits or just animating some boss fights for spectacle sake. Like anything involving McBurn fighting anyone would be awesome.
Maybe it’s because you’ve done some research or something else already. (Or your just joking) But it feels weird reading this comment when you have Lloyd as your pfp.
I mean the whole swords and sorcery thing are still present even in the modern games so I don’t see what is their to complain about. And I personally have no problem at all with the Mech side of things of the series. I mean even in Trails in the sky we had Renne with a giant robot by her side so the series was basically foreshadowing the whole mech thing since the beginning.
what do you mean? we got robot even in sky, remember dungeon below the Grancel Castle? Loewe riding robot like machine? Pater Meter?? even in Crossbell we got 3 Aions.
>imply anything of those three things were bad Haha... Not to mention that the former two were destined with the leaps-and-bounds of technological advancement created by orbal technology. You have been following along with the speed of scientific breakthroughs of trails so far... right?
Holy moly chill, don't hate on this guy this much, dayumn o.o And reading the comment it looked more like a joke than anything, unless the comment before the editing was worse.
Sora no Kiseki was the best for me plot wise! Zero/Ao were a close 2nd. The steel series though? I'm ok with the mecha. My problem is the "Power of Bonds" shit. Especially in ToCS III and IV where the students can summon and control remotely their mech because of their "bond" with their instructor. Like, wtf?
Looking back at this after watching the dumpster fire that was Norther War I think Trails in the sky at least tried with its animation it wasn't the best but they tried
