It's been nearly a decade since Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgård), also known as John Clayton III, left Africa to live in Victorian England with his wife Jane. Danger lurks on the horizon as Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz), a treacherous envoy for King Leopold, devises a scheme that lures the couple to the Congo. Rom plans to capture Tarzan and deliver him to an old enemy in exchange for diamonds. When Jane becomes a pawn in his devious plot, Tarzan must return to the jungle to save the woman he loves.

If you're referring to the clean-shaven face, in the book, he actually shaves regularly before ever meeting Professor Porter, Jane, or any other white person. I'm not going to say why he does it. The book was written in a different time period than now, and the reason would not fly today. That's all I'm going to say.

Hell yeah. If you were raised in the forest you'd learn that life and death is a natural part of survival. Tarzan's only morals is fight or flight, survival. And that's the way he should be written.

He hated having hair on his face because it made him look like the apes, he was obsessed with looking like the humans he found in his fathers books. Some of the men in the books had beard too but tarzan shaved his beard of with his fathers knife because he was afraid the hair would spread to the whole body so he looked like an ape.

I see a lot of comments on here confused as to why Jane is American in this movie. Fun Fact: Jane 's character was actually an American from Baltimore, Maryland in the original book (1912). Sound films later on (Tarzan the Ape Man 1932) changed her from American to English/British, so did Disney.

Absolutely loved this version, thought it was clever how it took a mythical character and blended with the slavery and ivory trade; touching will be loved by generations. Great chemistry between the Tarzan and Jane characters and Samuel Jackson was terrific; one felt their connections. Special effects were beautiful.

The love scene still feels a bit too... well let's say "vulgar" (I know it's a bit of a strong word and likely not the right one, but humor me I'm trying to get a point across) and "Hollywoodey" for the chemistry between Tarzan and Jane imo. I guess I might be more of a fan of the cleaner Disney version.

Heh, that was as family friendly as they could make it: him just be curious about her since this is first time he's seen another human, and a female at that. Here: it's un-bashfully obvious to him that Jane is human AND female; one that's, as far as he knows and understands, is interested in mating with him since she sought him out. But he also knows he did something wrong to cause her to reject him out of fear, so he retreats to try again to show what he intends without scaring her: the fact she shows she doesn't want him to leave encourages him. Thankfully, he knows she's intelligent so he does animal mimics of mating calls to show his intentions. Can't have that in a Disney film, but it's much closer to the original story where Tarzan, though very much a wild man, wants to treat Jane with respect and ensure she's not scared of him. After so many years of being without a mate of his own and treated poorly by Kerchak, no way was he going to make such a mistake.

I'm gonna be honest, I'm really mad that Jane doesn't have a british accent. She's like the og birthish disney prinsses/lady. All the others back then were American. Not that there anything wrong with America, but part of Jane's charm was that she was a well mannered English lady would found she liked life in the jungle

Actually, in the original book, Jane was American. Disney changes the story quite a bit. It’s a great book and well worth reading.

I like the British origin of Jane Porter too since she's was so sweet. But this story is much more closer to the original where the themes and ideas of Edgar Rice Burroughs' original version are much more pronounced, especially in how dangerous it actually is to live in a deadly jungle. That Jane wouldn't survive in this more authentic environment. At least we can be happy to see that even this Tarzan does love and respect this Jane just as much; backing off when she said "no," respecting her intelligence and her independence in a time where such behavior was considered "shrewd."

As everyone else said, Jane is supposed to be American in the source material. Disney changed her origins by placing her in England to match Tarzan's roots of British noble heritage.

That‘s not true. Your breath stinks if you have poor gut health, or kept your mouth closed for a longer time. Brushing your teeth won‘t help you on the long run. Even if he never brushed his teeth, that would not have much impact

My biggest grip with this movie is that Tarzan "meets" Jane scene isn't longer. How about removing her shoe and poking and prodding her foot, while sneaking and sniffing his way up to listen to her heartbeat and finding out they are the same, only to get confirmation after comparing hands.

In the book he watches her for days before writing her a letter telling her he loves her, that he is hers and she is his, and leaving it where she will find it. It's actually really sweet.

When you are in a good state of health, for always being constantly sweating and exercising. you acquire a body odor tht could be said it smells good. Tarzan alimentation is not only raw meat, hes also eats fruits and stuff. his corporal defence and inmune system must be increadible, since he has shown great muscular strengh and vitality, so probably he doesnt have parasytes. So propably his body odor doesnt smell bad, and maybe he takes a bath in a river. :)

I actually liked this movie......streamed it on netflix....hope they make a sequel or another movie worthy....Alex Skarsgard and Margot Robbie had a phenomenal chemistry....this is actually the only movie where i really liked Robbie

The best two Tarzan movies that were made was Tarzan of greystroke with Christopher Lambert and this one they were done so amazingly well the cinematography was done so well everything was breathtaking and to answer the question why Tarzan did not have a any facial hair was remember he went back to civilization was living in England he was called back to the jungle after words because of the things that were going on with slavery and other elegal activity I think they thought very carefully how they did this movie and it worked.

I read the first book the description of the actions scenes are really good but the damn book was just dripping with racism, misogyny, and excessive glorification of the English aristocracy and Tarzan’s blue blood heritage as an explanation for his ability to become the White Wild Man King of the African Jungle, so yeah, I have mixed feelings about the books.
