The blue lightning dragon was Brimscythe, The Iron Storm. The white ice dragon is Vorugal, The Frigid Doom. The black acid dragon is Umbracyl, The Hope Devourer. The green poison dragon is Raishan, The Diseased Deceiver. And finally, the largest of them all, the red one is Thordak, The Cinder King. Thus is the Chroma Conclave upon us!

To Wendy, this is how Matt did it in the show (no spoilers don't worry just adding context): It was the last episode of the year, Vox Machina just finished their whole business with the Briarwoods and other stuff just like in Season 1. Then Matt just decided to just, as the cast put it, destroy his entire world just like that. Travis missing on a 19 was like the shit got real moment. And the worst part? THEY HAD TO WAIT UNTIL THE FIRST EPISODE OF THE NEXT YEAR TO CONTINUE FROM THE DESTRUCTION OF EMON. 🤣🤣🤣

I love the design for the dragons. Especially Thordak, how when he's powering up for the big fire blast, he looks like a hotrod engine revving up. And Umbrasyl's design is great, with the big bulging neck.

It's a small thing in the face of this epic destruction, but Pike joking with her friends ("Last one through is a troll dick!") made me so happy. It shows how much more confident she is now, not having to worry about faith and friends being mutually exclusive.

The troll dick has always held a special place in all of their hearts. Its impressive that when they have to reduce 170 hours of content down, it still makes the show.

They are taking liberties with the original campaign and I'm loving it. You can feel the influence of the campaign but the show feels completely original and fresh. I'm loving the narrative choices so far. The Briarwood arc was 14 streaming episodes to distill down to 10 cartoon episodes. Assuming all of season 2 and 3 is the Chroma Conclave, they have to distill 45 episodes and 172 hours of content down to 24 30-minute cartoons. Changes had to be made and they have been good. My favorite changes so far relate to the dragons. Umbrasyl rains acid as he flies overhead instead of just having a breath weapon. Thordak sprouts flame spikes and wings when he exhibits his connection to his power to utterly destroy the mountain beneath Emon the first day they arrive.

There's a major reveal that will change everything coming soon and they had to lay the groundwork to have it make more sense. "Her" first appearance was almost 20 minutes long and they don't have the time to do that. Their opening credits will be much more significant by the end of this season.

It is kind of great to see the two different perspectives from Wendy and Dustin. One person (Dustin) who knows what is coming and gets the subtle hints of foreshadowing, and the other (Wendy) who is going in somewhat blind to the Chroma Conclave arc, and is shocked by some of the revelations and curious to find out what they mean.

I think this is the best depiction of dragons I’ve seen in any media. Period. I remember reading the Dragonlance novels when I was back in elementary school, and that rendition of dragons has formed the basis for my view of them for the last 35 years. One thing that those books really imprinted on me was the terror of Black Dragons. I’ve always been a bit squeamish about acid in general, and that description just messed with my head, and the way they depicted the black dragon here with its acid rain just hits me on a primal level. Brilliant design work from this crew!

For those who don't know Brimscythe, the blue dragon from the last season was an adult dragon. These four are ancient dragons. Meaning they have centuries on Brim. They have much more experience, more wrath and are a billion times more deadly. Comparing Brim to them would be like comparing a toddler to a black belt on steroids.

I believe it was voted the #1 fan favorite funny moment of the campaign and its a favorite of the cast as well. They made a Keyfish joke last week in the Campaign 3 stream. It will happen. One I hope for and I doubt will occur is them discovering Tiberius while fighting Vorugal and then building a memorial. I did not like the character when he was an active PC but I have always admired the heroic ending Matt granted him and the fact the cast still honored someone who was once so important to them.

If that's the case it would be funny as hell to see him frozen in the ice and someone says "Who's that?" and everyone just shrugs their shoulders not knowing.

Since Tibs was a member during Brimscythe and the beginning of the Briarwood arc, yet they didn't put him in the first season of the animated series, I don't see any reason why they would include him anywhere in future seasons. It wouldn't make sense. It is pretty clear the cast and company of Critical Role has made a clear break with that player.

Critical Role themselves have said that the reason they got picked up for a 3rd Season is that the Chroma Conclave arc was just too big to fit into one season. So 3rd Season will finish this arc.

They said it'll fill seasons 2-3, but I imagine them rolling into the Amazon Prime offices with a giant wheelbarrow full of money to fund season 1 had something to do with it too. They're basically a year ahead of what anyone else can greenlight.

I feel both actors were perfectly cast. Reddick has the menace and gravitas to be the psychopathic embodiment of elemental greed and powerlust. Kevdak needs a big, regional UK accent of someone like Ineson to represent the essence of a Totem of the Bear barbarian.
