Yes more than a little bit meta, especially when you know the inspirations for Kima, Allura and their relationship. All those lines leading up to the betrayal are deeply layered. Just brilliant.
I love being able to see more of the dynamics between the dragons and get a little bit more in depth with each their motivations in the series. In the game we only really know what the main characters see so being able to see just the villains interacting with each other is so cool Also commenting on the 3 eps per week drop, i feel like that format is perfect. You get just enough so you can do a little binge session if you want but you can still talk about and analyze the story over a longer period of time. It's a great balance
Dhula is loosely base on Tiberius a PC character of a player tha use to play with them. one problematic moment of this character is that for a moment he start to flirt with Allura, but Matt by that time had already stablish a deeper relation between her an Kima, so when the player notice that they were more than friends he kind of threw a mini tantrum almost as he deserve the relationship. And i love that they can use that low moment as drama in this episode and a mirror it with all the other three relationships developing with their different levels of succes.
Yeah, the not fading to black was both for fan service, as well as to exert maximum emotional damage for the contrast with Keyleth and Vax. The writing in the series is just top-notch. Love it.
So we all understand that Dohla is absolutely a jab at Tiberius, right? A red dragonborn who had no chance in coming between Allura and Kima who was jealous of their success to the point that she eventually turned on them only to be unceremoniously killed by vorughal? Absolutely.
