I remember reading a story about two brothers who had this game back in the 90's. The younger brother loved the game and his older brother didn't seem too into it at first. The younger brother eventually passed away due to either cancer or a sickness and the older brother took up the mantle to play and beat this game for his little brother's memory. He said when the ending song came on, it made him feel as if his little bro was watching and was happy. That the ending song here symbolized the final goodbye and thank you to the older brother.
@@novamarpo3 Up until A Link Between Worlds, yeah, and then afterward... FOREVER! Unless Breath of the Wild is a part of the Age of Decline timeline, anyway...
@@carcerharlson9767 Actually it doesn't matter what timeline BOTW is in, since it's the game that reunites all 3 timelines. So essentially, after 10,000 plus years the Master Sword is weilded again
I know.. i remember being 12, going on 13 and beating it... and Chrono Trigger... thinking "video games will never be better than this" and in a way, i was right... ;_;
@J Lash Same! As much as a remake of this game would be awesome akin to LA, I don't think they'd do one because it's on snes VC, and other reasons. I feel the best way this game could be redone is a full-on 3D re-imagining. Wouldn't that be awesome?
Although I'm already 44 years old this song brings me back so fond memories... It's good to remember good moments that stay with us a whole lifetime! ❤️
This is without a doubt my favorite credits theme ever for a game. never have I felt so accomplished, and so celebrated for my hard work. It's so sincere it nearly makes me cry.
check out the Link Between Worlds variants of the Link to the Past music. in many ways they're even more awesome than the original. I even think it was a different composer working with the solid foundation.
@@hypertech116 He also supported amiibos. Nintendos version of over priced bullshit micro transactions... So he wasn't perfect but I think he was mostly a good guy who genuinely seemed gamer first before corporate shill. Can't fully blame him for being a bit pro corporate though... We do live in fucktard capitalism after all... Don't hate the playa so much as well... Hate the game lol.
@@soyborne.bornmadeandundone1342 amiibos are chill when you think of them as a toy. Smash Bros fighter amiibos are acceptable cause they're not actually pay to win. Just don't scan the other amiibos bro. They're very cool though. There are fighters who don't even have figures outside of amiibos. You can customize a fighter AI and put it into the game if you scan a fighter amiibo.
And so... the young man with a pink rabbit heart, who cherished love and peace above all things, remade the land in his image. Through the power of the gods, he initiates the greatest Zelda ending in the franchise...
When i hear this i dont merely hear an ending song to a great zelda game. I hear this and i can think of the entire series. All of nintendos games. The entire RPG and adventure genres! This is a theme fit for gaming and adventure of young heart itself.
it's 4:48 that does it for me. Had a friend around this time, Joey, same age as me (8-9 years old) who would eventually pass away from childhood cancer. Hearing this song brings waves of nostalgia, including memories of him (though fading with time since he wasn't long for this mortal coil). Be at Peace Joey, I miss you and think of you often.
At 3:52 this had me at awe...totally brought me back to '98 when this part gave me chills when I was 14. Especially the end! It totally made me feel like a hero! 😊
Linkfan99 I think when they made the timeline, they forgot that this is the real ending to the downfall timeline, where Link dies in OOC. In the Adult Link timeline, Wind Waker is the real ending, not the stupid DS spinoffs.
Jee Zed What do you mean "Wind Waker is the real ending"? The Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks stories continue perfectly where Wind Waker left off. And they're most certainly not "spinoffs."
This would sound like music that would play during graduation if you lived in a video game world: Graduating class walking in as ceremony starts: 0:10 - 3:49 Graduating class leaving as ceremony ends: 3:53 - 7:45
Or a hardened Soldier going into retirement. Idk if this is how they actually retire veterans, but they should. War vets shouldn't have to pay rent or taxes. The spilled blood of their comrades should be enough payment.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was deliberate, either by Kondo or someone directing him. Miyamoto has stated that The Legend of Zelda is fully a coming-of-age game. So when you are done with your quest it's natural for it to feel like a ceremony of graduation.
More like Toki no Exposition... CAUSE NOBODY SHUTS THE FUCK UP, AMIRITE? Ocarina's good, but personally I found it to be not quite the masterpiece everyone says it is... THIS game, however... well, it may be the best game Nintendo's ever made. Again, just my opinion.
I play this game at least once a year ever since 2006 when i got the GBA version, and i remember my 10 year old self watching the ending and listening to this song and feeling so happy and victorious, the when the credits started to roll and the soothing music started to play i felt nostalgia as weird as it sound, and thought about my life, and everytime a listen to this song by beating the game i get the same feeling, i can't help the tears, this is the only game that has that kind of power over me, it never gets old. A true masterpiece
This and the credit roll theme are possible the most emotional and nostalgic video game themes to anyone who knows and played it back in the day. Wow. Thank you Koji Kondo.
in 2020 I was going through dark ages of my life so I was encouraged to play things that I had never played thanks to chronno trigger and the legend of zelda a link to the past for teaching me that if I try hard enough I can achieve everything
Nintendo always nails credits music. So beautifully triumphant, yet bittersweet, because the adventure is over now. I didn't even grow up with this game and I'm tearing up.
Ocarina of time changed music in games forever, changed combat in games forever, and changed worlds in games forever... LTTP did none of that. Just saying. Great game... But it's no where near as epic as OoT.
OoT was ground breaking for sure and a great game but something was slightly lost for me. I think it was the voice effects and some of the character designs. LTTP is superior but that's just my opinion
The Master Grief Collection so what? it was not that great of a game. it was full of padding, and it reused about half of its soundtrack and other ideas from LttP. so it pioneered some technical stuff like z targeting, the dungeon music was .... original I'll grant ... but also repetitive and weird and suck, and the story had "cinematic" cutscenes but it was also overwrought and didn't make much sense. it was an *accomplishment* on the crappy N64 hardware. that's something. but it is not a better game than LttP, which touches your soul and leaves you satisfied.
Yeah dude... He had nothing to do with this great game so your comment is kind of weird... I would also like to add that people shouldn't kiss his ass so much. Sure the guy did great things and he died of cancer which is messed up and sad but the dude wasn't perfect of course. All men have flaws no matter how "great" they are. He did help promote amiibos after all... No one likes that dlc in the form of over priced dolls bullshit lol.
+The Master Grief Collection First of all, paying respects for the dead isn't "kissing ass". Sure, he's not involved in this game making it a weird place to do it, but whatever... Also love how you imply no one likes amiibos, when they sold like fuckin hotcakes, and popular characters still sell like crazy
This game took me all winter to beat, we did not have any gamesfaq back then. Just our determination, love for the game and time.. a whole lot of time... *snif.. miss those days..
Still the best game in the series. The entire Zelda franchise has this game to thank due to the formula it created. Ocarina of Time would not be as great as it is without ALTTP. OOT is essentially a 3D version of this game. Like I see so many similarities between this and then the entire series followed ALTTP formula essentially besides stuff like MM and BOTW. Also everything about this game is timeless. I would love to see a remake a of this game, but I am also satisfied with the game we have. Nothing has aged one bit. All-time classic.
I love this ending theme. Maybe because this is the first Zelda game I finished, but regardless, this is the ending theme I love the most from the saga.
First game I ever owned but not the first I beat. Years later when I finally beat it. I had tears because it was special. 30 years later I can still boot up my original SNES and cartridge and still play it. I love this game.
I was 11 years old when I got the game, and took over a month to beat. I'm 40 now and can only play SNES games on emulator. SNES games are as good as most games for 20 years after Nintendo stopped making SNES.
Somewhat related. My older brother and I had saved game slots for Final Fantasy 3 on SNES (now called FFVI). He accidentally saved over my more advanced game state thinking he was “loading it up” for me to sit down after him. Totally honest mistake. I got over it and we both played from where he was, through to the end. I’m not sure how into the game he really was, but he kept a lot of enthusiasm and energy going as we played together through to the end. The final blow was a Terra desperation sword on Kefka when she had just a few HP left.
As someone Born in 2001 im very very Happy that my Mom got a NES and a SNES from her Parents in the late 80s to early 90s. She eventually lost Interest in Video Games but thanks to her i was able to experience all of the gems that were 80s and 90s Video Games. i feel Like many Video Games that get releases today are Just quick cash-grabs by companies. I feel Like the developers Back in the 80s and 90s really loved making Games and nowadays its Just working a Job. Maybe im Just being nostalgic. I Love this Game and have Made many memories with it. Sure its Not the best Zelda or a perfect Game but i still find myself replying it every few years. Still waiting for a new top-down Zelda Game.
I have recently beat this game 100% and, I kid you not, in about four sittings, 3 hours each. My desire to play ALTTP again and truly beat it helped me along, not to mention trying to beat jealous relatives deleting my files at a certain point in the game because they suck at ALTTP. I was proud to have finally beat it 100%, after 6 years of saying I would one day, and it now lives in a secret storage space in my room, with the box and original content. And A Link To The Past sleeps again...
This and Street Fighter 2 were my childhood games. Funny how the little 2d world in his game seemed so vast as a child. That awe from the vastness is a feeling I wish I could relive.
Starts off with an amazing run through of all the major characters in the game and how they are getting along. That was epic enough. Then the tricot e comes along I think along with the credits, and I just kept watching. I thought I'd died.
I did a speedrun of the GBA version (Since Ive already done a speedrun of the SNES version) and I found myself instinctive humming along to the entire ending sequence. This and Super Metroid have the best ending themes imo
Things were bad, I won't lie, you were you were all gonna die, But you’re alive because...I'm top class! So you’re welcome, I guess, either way I’m the best I’m the Link, who’s the Link to the past! There’s a bunch of Links Each of us distinct But I’m the best I am number one Look how fast I run And I’m really fun Guess I’m just blessed Yes, I saved Light and Dark Worlds Zelda too, and like six other girls My quest was epic and long Too much so to fit into song! I bring bad guys to their knees No, no, no, no…no autographs, please I’m a gift, to you from the gods I’ve got grit! And I'm fit! Just admit: You idolize me! You’re like “Wow! Sacre Bleu, we were troubled, it's true, but Link showed up and voila, we were free!” You were lost, stuck in bed, you were basically dead, But you’re all alive because of me! So you’re welcome, no prob, yeah I did a great job But I just did what you woulda done That’s a joke, obviously! No, it had to be me I’m the Link who’s the Link to the past… Tunic green as the grass, You’re all saved at last, I'm top class.
3:51 is the reason this game needs the serious home-console level remake it deserves.. the kind that will honor the serious epicness of the original, and feel like a proper remake. It would put a grown man to tears
