Got myself a switch with BotW when I moved to my new place. It was so great wandering around in Kakariko Village after long days of painting & unpacking
The first one made me go "why does this sound familiar?" And then I saw the title and I remembered that long ago when I was little, my dad let me play his old legend of zelda game. It was Link To The Past. I loved that game so much!

Triphlosion All Princess Zelda themes! Tbh there isn't really any official Zelda theme in BotW. It's really in multiple cutscenes, in the Horse Riding Day theme, in Hyrule Castle, and at the end of the game (the end version is probably the most official one).
I have to say Ocarina of Time is probably my favourite Kakariko Village theme. That's mostly nostalgia talking though. I find Kakariko Village to be one of my favourite places in Hyrule alongside Kokiri Forest. The main reason for this is because they have such a peaceful vibe to them.
My fav will always be OoT because I loved the soft way it was played, like a lullaby. I even liked that it changes depending if you’re a child or adult.
Eli Torres Same here. I believe that most people remember the chord changes as they were in OoT, and the palette is richer than in ALttP. Although the Kakariko in ALBW is the same village as in ALttP, the chord changes follow OoT.
kakariko in BOTW is hands down my favorite town in all of zelda, but its a disappointing they changed up the theme so drastically. it should have just been a completely new area, and maybe made hateno village the "new" kakariko, with the theme and all.
I think BOTW really did one for the new fans. I like all past versions as well, but I appreciate the fact that they did this one so differently, because BOTW itself is different from the past reiterations of Zelda. Plus what can you say about the traditional Japanese feel of it? Just so appropriate in relation to the style of the village. Feels like a cultural statement.
The best by far is Link Between Worlds. That trombone solo gets me every time. But it set my expectations for Breath of the Wild a bit too high, so I only got disappointed with it, to say the least.
My fav kakariko village theme is albw's version because it was the 1st game 2 really get me into zelda and the version i have heard of this song and probably out of the zelda games i have played, my favourite 1
A KV theme compilation with both versions of the OoT theme? Wow! Who knew? Every other KV theme compilation I've seen only had the child theme for OoT so thank you for that! Quite frankly I like the orchestra vibe the adult version gives off better for a couple reasons. Kinda sad BotW had to find a way to ruin the theme but even that is still a good game nonetheless.
they shouldn't be compared tbh, I love both songs but they're wildly different from each other, like the whole town (honestly Hateno is probably a lot more similar to the Kakariko of old) As much as I love the old songs, I don't mind the fact the BOTW's soundtrack, like the whole game, is completely different and actually really dig the new soundtrack
To be honest, I like the BotW theme more, but i haven't heard any of the others in-game. I just feel like the BotW kakariko village theme really fits the image that the village itself gives of when you just walk around for a while.
oblongbirb Upon listening to the old one, humming those familiar slow bars before humming BotW’s faster, more note-rich ones, I think they did more or less keep it. There’s just more notes in between the original, simple melody. It’s also louder, has a more uneven tempo, and of course has that Japanese punch that the older ones don’t; I think most people would miss it.
The chime instrument at 26:41 and 26:49 plays the same four notes from the original melody (0:07). It's the same leitmotif that Twilight Princess references.

I actually was never a big fan of the original Kakariko theme. I like what they did with it in the later games. The Breath of the Wild Kakariko theme is breathtaking.
TP also had a very different feel. There it looks more like a wild west town. With the shaman like a medicine man, with a gunpowder store, being next to a large plain and having a mine. They also have troubled relationships with the locals.
OOT was the best, speaking from a non-nostalgic standpoint. I understand where you guys who like LTTP are coming from but those tones in that version are just so... nasty
