Collins Ongaya The first Legend of Zelda was based on his memories of exploration as a child. So yeah, that would be three decades.. Although I must say this game is much much more than just the fruition of those ideas.. But they are clearly in it as well ^.^
Geekade It's not about other's not being willing to "oblige" really. Just about what could be done with the tools that were present. Besides, to be fair the first game did achieve those ideas already. Just in a less immersive and advanced manner.
I hope you are right, friend. Also hope they have different fish species scattered all around entire land so I can go on my own fishing pilgrimage all over Hyrule. Shame if you can fish all sorts in one pond. That's like my adventure in Zelda adventure, Also there better be at least 150 different fish species.
***** Well considering the fish they caught is called Hyrule Bass, I think we can assume there are at least a few more. Don't know about Catching Them All, though.
Hopefully they include a recipe book in this, where you can see what possible combinations there are (e.g. Meat and Mushrooms, but not the quantity of each) and if you successfully cook the dish it appears in the book with the full recipe and what it does!
Yes that would be very handy. It would be nice if it appears in on of the sheika slate menus. Alternatively you might be able to manually enter it in, I think that's a bit more immersive, but that might not be something some people would like.. I for one would very much like to manually write down the fruits of my experimentation, I think it would add to the explorative experience :-)
Link is now a ninja: climbs any surface, falls without taking damage, makes silent kills, I'm sending a request for him to join the Order of Assassins.
+ArkayneShad0w he could glide down though... still a ninja...lol. a ninja costume would be awesome in this game. especially if it has an effect like increase stealth ability.
Why is Link right-handed? Where are the rupees? Where's the open-chest sound? Where's the get-an-item sound? Why is Link unable to roll? Why is that easy to get a bow? Where are the green clothes? Where are the bottles? Where are the potions? Where is Link's partner? Where is Link's instrument?
How do you know that you wont get those things later in the game? This is just an E3 demo, they obviously didn't include everything. For example, I know for sure that Rupees and green clothes WILL be in the game, and for all we know, potions, bottles, Link's instrument, and Links partner could still very well be in the game. As for the rest, yeah, I guess they did break the conventions to refresh the series.
I think they said because the buttons for combat were on the right so they made him right handed, said by Anouma himself. Dunno. Dunno. Link can jump, maybe he had to give up rolling. Weapons break, and bows also break, and there will be better bows and weapons as the game goes on I assume. Green clothes will probably be in the game. He made a potion. I think the Sheikah Slate/Zelda iPad is the "instrument". Also, they did talk about mixing up the zelda formula, you can even go straight to the final boss from the beginning I've heard.
+Axmak Top-right of the inventory/character screen, you can see a Rupee symbol and counter - they're still there, just as a currency you earn by selling resources.
I think it would be fun to find recipes by experimenting with trial and error, but then have successful recipes automatically get recorded by the Sheikah slate or something so we don't forget. Simply buying or otherwise obtaining a complete cookbook would detract from the sense of adventure. Resources are so plentiful anyway
The grass! I don't think I've ever seen grass that intuitive in a video game before! The way it moves in the wind... And there's so much of it! I'm seriously melting right now!
+Stop It This is just a demo which concentrates in hunting and gathering stuff. They had a lot of fighting and different battles in the livestream too. So don't worry, in the final game there will be a lot of that, too.
it's kinda adorable how sterilized the hunting mechanic is in this game. Kill a boar and you get this nice little steak! Just like you find at the grocery store!!
"Some ppl like the challenge of that gameplay." My mind immediately went to the 3 hearts challenge. And speed runs are going to be very interesting in this game.
that magic book around links waist is pretty much what a tablet is to us. link can scan it to enter shrines, take pictures at 10:47. I wonder if it runs out of batteries.
3:48 Wow.... that bomb technique he used was freaking clever. This game REALLY does seem to have a lot of potential for the player to come up with different ways to engage it.
Idk if Link can be encumbered, but a nice aesthetic feature would be having link visibly have items falling out of his pack and him moving slowly. I think that would be cool
+joemann7971 and +krillee84 i will totally tell you honestly that i never knew this was a phrase. Iv'e heard multiple other titles that people came up with, but this just popped in my head. 😃
+joemann7971 literallty, i rarely even play the elder scrolls and i thought it would be funny. Trust me, i do copy other people's phrases often, and someone obviously must have done this before i did, but i posted it because i thought it was funny. 😂😭
Anyone else get a total Pikmin vibe from the Stepple Talus? The way he seems like an innocent pile of rocks at first, and then emerges to wreak havoc. Love it!
Hearing "head shot" in reference to a Zelda game is pretty jarring, but at least they're not sugarcoating anything. Nintendo let's them say "crap" and "murder" in these videos, which I'd never imagine years ago.
You don't 'have' to slaughter the animals you can make Link vegan if you want, which is what I'll be doing when I play this if the mechanics still work the same
I think I'd be cool if there was a hunger/thirst meter, to make food even more important. Also, I love how that Bokoblin actually picked up the Steak and tried to eat it at 24:44, so many games make it so creatures attack each other in the world, but none of them actually try to eat the other creature
I don't know how the thirst meter would go (Fill empty bottles maybe?) but the hunger meter would be great. Based on the gameplay I have seen so far,you can be a human fridge and only eat items when you take damage,so adding a hunger meter or a survival mode seems to be a good idea.
This game is going to consume my life. I can already see myself just spending hours trying to cook different things. This is going to be the *best* game ever.
they probably only use that for dungeon items and stuff, cause that would get pretty annoying, every time you pick up a tree branch, "tududuntududuntududun, BWAH BWAH BWAH BWAAAAAAAHHHHHH
The hunting and cooking are probably my favorite features so far (besides the obvious climbing and exploring) and I find it amusing since I can't do either in real life
I'm sure we'll come across some dungeons and temples soon. It seems a lot of people are avoiding the place Link's iPhone nagged him to go to early in the game. Exploring and killing things is more fun XD
It is confirmed by Nintendo that there are still traditional dungeons and towns, both of which are not demonstrated at E3. They only focused on new elements, like hunting, cooking and shrines.
Yeah, I have to agree with some of the other folks here - one of the main reasons the demo feels so different is because it's purposefully highlighting ONLY the new stuff. At the same time, it's certainly returning to a purposefully more open-world, less linear style of gameplay as an homage to the first game in the series and its focus on the adventure element.
This game is really true to its title. I love the direction the Zelda team has taken with this and I can only imagine how great of a game this is going to be. The battle, the mechanics and as a whole, everything is just so smooth and beautiful.
Oh dear. Do not tell me I can gather and cook ingredients in a game. I will never put it down ever. Like, when will I achieve actual game progress if I spend all my time trying to turn Link into Cooking Mama?
