I never write comments but seeing your sincere love and enjoyment for a game I have not paid much thought to in years made me smile for minutes - I was one of the people thrown off by the touch pen controls and remember being terrified of the temple of the ocean king as a kid. As a result I never got to see the coolest bits of the game, but after hearing ou talk I think I should pick it up at some point :)
Wow! Thank you so much for your kind words. Your comment made my day! I really did HATE the touch controls when I first got the game. I never did learn to love them, but I did learn to tolerate them. "Terrified" is absolutely the correct word! There was some sort of genuinely intense fear with that temple. I've only felt something similar with Skyward Sword, haha! You should absolutely go back to it! Making this video actually made me want to go back and replay it... or maybe back to Spirit Tracks since I never actually beat that game! Thank you so much for watching!
I only just beat Phantom Hourglass recently after wanting to play it for years. I remember hearing that people either love it or hate it. Me? I liked it fine. I do like Windwaker more, but that's because I played it many times over the years. The visual style has held up really well (its so cute!). Plus, I do have fond nostalgia for it. Both Windwaker and Phantom Hourglass are more light-hearted Zelda games, but they each had depths to their stories and unique characters that you never forget. The only two things I didn't like were the repetitiveness of going back to the Temple of the Ocean King and the final boss fight (which was mainly the stylus controls. It was working against me :( ), but I did enjoy it. That's the beauty of a game series that's been going strong for three decades; everyone has grown up with at least one Zelda game that they love and cherish
Thank you so much for your comment! It really was a polarizing game... it had to of been because of the stylus controls? I'll have to go back and check out some old reviews! I completely agree with you in regards to it being more light hearted. It really does remind me of link's awakening with it being an overall lighthearted game, but with some undertones of deeper things going on! I HATED the Temple of the Ocean King! It always gave me way too much anxiety, haha! I really do love how everyone has a unique favorite in the series... although, I've yet to meet anyone who said the CDI Zelda games were their favorite, ha!
