I remember mentioning that the Wii Shop Channel closing will make this softlock unfixable and the response I got was "Well, it's easier to Homebrew anyway."
Which is worse; Gorons, or Photo Men? I distinctly remember during the PH playthrough that the game crashed when you went to Goron Island, causing you to lose the Neptoona as you didn't save, and THEN you had to resort to a different save file to record the Goron Temple after losing the footage of it. Gorons are just EVIL!!! 4:34 Oh wow, I completely forgot about that! I have fond memories of seeing it when I was downloading and exited to play Paper Mario and SMRPG both for the first time way back when. 5:31 "In order update your save data..." Heh, apparently even the people at Nintendo didn't know what they were doing at the time! Imagine how funny it would be if Nintendo were to make Skyward Sword HD, and forget to reapply this patch! At least now they have the opportunity to patch it the conventional way, to even further emphasize how bad the Wii's architecture was...
This brings back a lot of memories. Mind you, they weren't exactly good memories. This just reminded of how crappy my internet was back then. I couldn't use half of the channels since they wouldn't even load properly.
Well, looks like you can still download the SDUC after the Wii Shop Channel closed down, so there’s still a server at Nintendo operating the shop for this and the Wii U Transfer Tool

The Wii Shop Channel's _still open?_ And it has a _Crunchyroll_ app available? *what is existence right now* I don't use Crunchyroll, but still, having it on the Wii just sounds bizarre, given that I've never been able to run anything on the internet channel more complicated than a simple google search without having loading issues.
I can now comfortably come away from this video and say that I am knowledgeable in Nintendo’s complete fuckery of skyward sword. Seriously, the game was SO linear, that the SINGULAR non-linear moment in the game completely breaks your entire save file
To be fair until breath of the wild came being linear was the main mechanic of the 3d zelda games but to say that your save breaks at the first bit of non linear gameplay is pretty ridiculous considering how specific this glitch is and how it has been patched in newer versions of the game
This is what people mean when they say nintendo's behind a few generations. They don't focus on graphical output like everyone else, but things like this outright scare entropeneurs away getting into the industry
Only reason I can see is going to grind for some materials again, which you may be inclined for as this is the last time you're visiting here. Otherwise, yeah, rather unlikely.
So since this fix disables the "Lanayru Quest" flag, would it be possible to use it early and take on the Lanayru quest and another quest at the same time?
This is the only way to "patch" on Wii. A channel that just changes the save data. They weren't clever enough to allow for some way to do that without downloading and installing a channel.
It angers me very much that Nintendo is not only removing the Wii shop channel, but has already removed the Wii's online feature. I still don't understand why they did this and I am very disappointed in them. (Both of these blusters combined with shutting down Miiverse has made my lost quite a bit of faith in them as a company. Everyone's complaining about "Waluigi not being in the newest smash brothers" or "mother 3 not being released". Just remember, the past hasn't been kind to them.)
