i own two riverinas i wear one everyday have the other for a spare if anything every happens to my main one it has been in the box in the closet for over a year and is still in perfect condition have a snowy river for special occasions i just bought this one to day the rough rider loden i am god smacked by how comfy and great of a hat it is blew my mind for comfort can not recommend them enough they are a great hat i am going to have to get my self a second ruff rider for a spare and emergency it is weird once you get one akubra you start seeing them every where

Buying slightly lose is important . I've Akubras going back to the eighties , and they're all 58 size ( I still am buying that size ) and they're a tad tight at about 57 now. Even unused ones kept in store go down a size over a few years with leather ageing . Hat blocks are a good idea . Bit of tension helps with the long oval that I am .

That is a good tip with the Hat Block, especially if you aren't wearing the Akubra everyday!

I like to get my Akubras two sizes larger. They are really loose for a while but eventually they come down to a nice fit. If I only go one size larger, they become too tight after a year or two of heavy use.

Hey Gobi, good tip! The shrinkage for heavy users with the sweat and heat is much more than for a light user wearing the hat once in a while.

Hi TR Mex, depends where in Australia they come from! We definitely have some pretty true blue Aussie cowboys out our way in Queensland!

The term 'cowboy' in Australia is traditionally used to refer to a tradesman whose workmanship is shoddy or below par. Referring to 'stockmen' or 'ringers' as cowboys is an insult to these hard-working people.
