George Benton - Was an American boxer and boxing trainer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His first amateur bout was when he was thirteen. He turned professional three years later at the age of sixteen. He boxed professionally from 1949 to 1970 and defeated future world champions Freddie Little, Jimmy Ellis, and Joey Giardello. In seventy-six professional fights, he was never knocked down and was stopped just twice, on a cut against Luis Manuel Rodriguez and when he didn't come out for the final round of his fight with Bennie Briscoe. Benton had a professional record of 62-13-1 (37 KOs).

One of the best defensive boxers of all time! George Benton was not only a great boxer but one of the all time great trainers as well. His list includes such fighters as Evander Holyfield, Rocky Lockridge, Mike McCallum, Meldrick Taylor, and Pernell Whitaker among many others. www.patreon.com/haNZAgod

After Evander left Main Events, The Duva's Management, he should have kept Georgie on as his trainer!! Georgie, like Pernell Whitaker would have POLISHED AND ENHANCED EVANDER'S DEFENSE to which he would have been near unbeatable for almost five years as Heavyweight Champion.

I see the defense-aggression i see in frazier, spinks, norton, & evander.. but that type of control you see in taylor & pernell. i mean you see it as well in briggs & some other fighters that could be named for the shell (toney or mayweather, but they had their own specific type of style). i've been getting more into benton & barely now just trying to find whatever i can of him. he seems like such an interesting & intelligent man who had an instinct for danger. the man was never KO'd or flattened out in his 62 professional fights but never had a title shot ( part of Duva's doing ). If it's anyone I'm aiming to study, train & box like, it's Benton now hahaha. defense first! from a video i saw around here : "offense is defense. defense is offense" - george benton

Mike Tyson has been in the news pointing out the history that floyd mayweather isn’t the first person to achieve his status and that money isn’t his goat...! Pukka, in all the years it seemed to be money appeared was a striving reach for him it’s now known after having it and lost it he still has the vision he started with all those years ago. A lot of athletes fall into a world surrounded by money and the things that it brings, yet each one will defend themselves to be right in there careers even when they have lost the lot. Yeah I’m a big fan of the man Mike Tyson, and it’s not because I idolise him as you think!!!!! The man changed boxing back in the 90’s so it evolved into the future and then still raises attention on the past! There’s only one person that can justify his comment? Is he telling the truth?
