My family had a pet pig we were going to eat he is know almost 10 years old and it’s very much a part of the family, his name is Junior bacon cheeseburger.

The biggest reason we eat herbivores/omnivores instead of carnivores is they're easier to feed. You can feed a cow grass and you can feed a pig scraps but you have to farm a herbivore just to feed the carnivore. There's just not very commercially viable ( for meat)

On the cow discussion, look into regenerative farming (it's just cool to look up) for ways that one can do sustainable beef. Not sure if it's full carbon neutral/carbon negative (probably depends on your local biomes really) but it's just neat.

Was just gonna come here and say that I come from a 3rd generation farm. Cows are stupid as bricks but they are very very efficient when it comes to cost to meat weight. Especially in North America where we can literally just let grass grow and bale it to feed cattle. I think our cost to profit was 400% last year ... very efficient highest costs are vets and medication needed to keep the herd healthy

on the cow front termites produce substantially more mthane. also 1 large volcano produces more green house gases then all of humanitys history. On the service industry wage alot of people in the industry like the current tipping bc they make far more then they would if the made hourly. For instance my mom before she desided to go into the medical industry to help people was pulling from 150-200 on a slow night to the most i have ever seen was 1600 so it depends on luck and your skills at service. sorry for the paragraph lol.

Good grief. No, one volcanic eruption does _not_ emit more CO2 than humanity's industrialized history. If you were to magically break our emitted CO2 back up into carbon and oxygen, the resulting 800 billion ton pile of carbon would be comparable in size to the _largest mountains in the western US_. There have been numerous volcanic eruptions all throughout history, and they are not reflected in any appreciable way in measured CO2 levels (where the largest eruptions show up is in temporary - as in a few years - dips in worldwide temperature). Earth's atmospheric composition and its mean surface temperature have been measured dating back _millions_ of years. Long term average global temperatures were within +-1*C of the same value for nearly all of the last 5000 years... until about 1950.

We dont' eat carinivores because it's too expensive to farm them. The animals we do eat tend to eat things we're not good digesting. Cows eat a lot of the waste products we dont' eat. Ever wonder where all those shelled peanuts casings go? Cows are great at breaking down things we consider not nutritional at all. When plants decay they release the carbondioxide and methane anyways, why not give them to cows and get some extra energy out of what would just be thrown away anyways.

{this seems like a fitting place to say, eating animals unnecessarily is cruel, farming animals unnecessarily and treating them as lesser beings rather than offering the companionship we offer to dogs and cats is cruel, animal products are incredibly inefficient to produce and harmful for the environment. go vegan, for the animals and the planet as a whole!}
