Mixtapes are generally used to create buzz for an artist's upcoming album. They are normally given away for free or at a low cost to gain exposure. There have been plenty of artists such as 50 Cent, Young Jeezy, and Gucci Mane who have successfully used mixtapes to increase their popularity.
Though plenty of artists who have had great mixtape runs there have been close to no one who has had the impact Lil Wayne has had. Whether it’s his Dedication, Da Drought, or No Ceilings series Lil Wayne morphs into what seems to be an alien-like figure. This is why I’m here today to break down the legend of Mixtape Wayne.

That is what Mixtapes are it was a way to promote artists while dumping songs that they cannot sell or did not make the cut for other projects. Back then it was not just that like it was a good way for an artist to get noticed so a lot of rappers came up from that era, yo gotti started as a mixtape rapper just one example there is plenty of others that did the same and plenty that should of made it more famous. Wayne is so legendary, you can do a whole othe mixtape Weezy video on his unofficial mixtapes. Back then they were so many DJs dropping leaked Lil Wayne songs, making full mixtapes out of them. And they were fire. I didn't even know which were official or inofficial releases.

dedication 2 helped built me back up to such a high level when I had the worst year ever in 05, it got my 06 year off to a great start and gave me a great comeback to life, and that was followed by the best year I ever had the very next year, that was 18 years ago and now everytime I hear south musik it always takes me back to those times, his memories 😊❤️❤️

This is probably the most impressive run in rap history. From the lyrics, the beat selection, the impact, making you forget all the original songs Wayne remixed them, the deliveries, the confidence you could hear thru the speakers, the sheer volume of songs, and then add the 3 classic albums (C1/C2/C3) dropped during this run, and the 100+ features he also did for other artists and how tf is any rapper matching that ?

Awesome video 🔥 This video is definitely helpful to understanding his mixtape catalogue. Took me a while to get it myself so this would've really benefited me back then. His mixtapes were also the first ones I ever downloaded (Dedication 1 & 2). Wish they were all officially on dsps (with no changes/as first released) but ay, I can download them so I'm good either way I guess 🤷 My fav mixtapes from him are the obvious ones: Dedication 2, Da Drought 3 and No Ceilings but I also love the first Dedication a lot too

4:40 Inaccuracy: The original Carter had members of Sqad Up on the album. Not the Hot Boys. Gudda was originally on "Tha Heat" and "We Don't" which he was replaced by Birdman. It was other songs featuring Sqad Up. SQ broke up towards the end of 2003 ...Which pushed the album back to 2004... Wayne reworked some songs
