How are the backstories for the legendary mons in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet so DARK??? I know there are some pokedex entries that are intense from the other games in the series but WOW. Glad that the legendary battle theme brings that energy along with it! (Also, The title is a bit of a pun because of the Ice Legendary hehehehe)

These are some of the few legendaries that actually *FEEL* legendary. Like Pokemon only told of in legend and are locked away for a reason. They give HEAVY Regi vibes, and as the Regi Man, I very much appreciate that. Got all 6 Shiny in the course of 2 1/2 years of on and off hunting with Arceus thrown in the middle of them all. Which brings me to a point: WHY CANT WE SHINY HUNT THEM?? They're sealed away with no cutscenes they show up in. So there was no reason to have these boys Shiny locked. I wanted to bust open Chien-Paos chamber hundreds of times until he showed up shit brown XD

I love that Ruination, the signature move of the Ruin legendaries, along with its identical clone Nature’s Madness, the signature move of the Tapu legendaries, is just a Special version (a difference which does not matter) of Super Fang… which used to be the signature move of Raticate.

I like Chi-Yu the best mainly because it left quite the impression on me. It was the last one I went for & after catching a giant snail, snow leopard, and elk, a tiny goldfish was not what I expected

Me neither. But I didn’t expect ANY legendaries outside of the ride Pokémon. Much less a leaf snail with wooden tablets for a shell, a snow leopard weasel thing with swords for fangs, that I thought they were going for a saber tooth weasel, a rock deer with a big bowl on its head, and a fire fish with beads for eyes but they look like grapes and fermented bananas to me.

The funniest part about Chi-Yu to me is what it's based off of. All four of the treasures of ruin are based off of one of the Four Perils, making them related to the weather genies/enamourus, at least Thematically. Though they closer resemble the Alola guardians as a group Chi-Yu Specifically is the Hundun. Or, basically the daoist *Primordial Chaos*

Oh same! I was half-asleep when I got to Area Zero but when I heard the theme, it woke me right up. Freaking slapped so damn hard. Shot up the list of my favorite Scarlet tracks with Ruin Quartet's theme being a close second followed by the South Province battle theme in third

If you want some help, gallade gets both false swipe and hypnosis, and Iron valiant gets false swipe and maybe hypnosis Edit: just checked, iron valiant also gets both moves

Unlike most of the previous legendaries who are mostly guardians of native land or created by Arceus. These 4 are artifacts traded to Paldea when the old kingdom existed, the king was extremely unjust and cruel which caused uprising amongst citizens and hatred. The 4 artifacts manifested the negative energies and turn sentient into actual Pokemons so powerful that they destroyed the old kingdom. They were then sealed for being dangerous till we the player release and catch them. They are evil Pokémon by nature due to the corruption of sins. Titled the quartet of ruination because they bring ruin not salvation. If anything their true bodies which are the artifacts, are the real legendary

I still really wish that we had just gotten a little more INVOLVEMENT with the Treasures of Ruin- don't get me wrong! The DLC for ScaVi was great imo, but I almost selfishly wish we had gotten a third one that included these legendaries and their lore. With how hard their story goes, with the darkness BEHIND those stories, I think an expansive plot involving them would've been *Beautiful*

I accidentally OHKO'd wo-chien. With a lokix. Had to shut off the game immediately before the battle ended... 3 times... And when i finally caught it... It was in a damn heal ball.... A HEAL BALL! The history Teacher will mark the locations of the gates on your map to make it easier to find them if you do more of her class

There are 4 shrines around all Paldea and each one has one of the four legendary Pokemon inside of them. To free them you need to search and interact with some glowing stakes of 4 different colors in the ground all around Paldea, I think there are 32 stakes in total, 8 for each legend. The history teacher after doing her classes in the academy she will mark in your map the ubication of the shrines but the stakes you have to search them by your own. (Also all 4 legends are level 60)

To add to the rest of this thread, you don’t need any specific gym badges, just the abilities to swim, glide, and climb. Keep in mind they are at level ~50, so make sure you’re prepared

Nearly spoiled Chien-Pao a few months ago because I didn't expect to see any Gen 9 stuff on this channel (I just wasn't thinking about it), I saw the title of the video and was like "which quartet?" and glanced at the thumbnail, then I *skedaddled.* In the end despite being spoiled on like half of the Paradoxes I did get to *fully* see the Treasures for the first time in-game, besides Chi-Yu which some stupid article had a picture of... and Chi-Yu is kinda hard to not immediately fully grasp. (oh also the music is really nothing special at all and i dont know why zoomers in chat are saying it "GOES SO HARD FAM")

Probably for the same reason a lot of game music is only popular with fans of the game. Part of what they enjoy is the feeling/moment the song reminds them of. Personally though I think this is pretty effective background music at setting a dark and tense atmosphere, especially with the sting at the beginning is timed to hit along with the revelation of the mon's unique ability
