WARNING: This video makes this entire adventure look pretty easy. It's not! I think everyone should do The Whole Enchilada, but you need to be in fantastic shape with some fantastic bike skills if you want to enjoy 30+ miles of riding over 5+ hours.
This ride is really something else. So many fantastically fun features. So many challenges. So very rewarding to survive it unscathed. I don't think I could do it more than once every five years, but everyone should do it once.

I can't believe you rode the snotch section. I just did that the other day and ended up crawling/sliding down that section. It is so much bigger and steeper than the video makes it seem haha. This trail is a meat grinder. Don't let the elevation profile deceive you it is intense. I just rode Kokopelli to Porcupine Rim and into town, it was in the upper 80's, and it took me over 4 hours and I ran out of water and had brought 3.5 Liters with me.

I watched this video, and enjoyed it today. It was fitting, because the other day I watched a video where Braydon Bringhurst did the Whole Enchilada in reverse. Very humbling. It’s a hard trail in both directions.

It's one thing to ride it in reverse. Brian could do this, given his fitness level. However, Braydon's goal was to CLEAN the entire trail, which is really a completely different beast. Like how "riding" Slickrock vs. "cleaning" Slickrock. I've cleaned all but one or two sections of Slickrock Trail, which puts me in the rare minority of riders. Everyone else who "rides" it walks a LOT of the trail's hardest sections. Additionally, Braydon made it even HARDER for himself by limiting himself to brute riding technique. If he had instead used trials technique, he could have mastered The Snaggle in one or two tries instead of FIFTY TWO attempts! That said, he cleaned The Snotch in like four tries, which is beyond impressive. This is what made his attempts even crazier. Complete insanity, if you ask me. He's a total beast.
@turntabillist

@@dudeonbike800 8600 FT is required viewing for every mountain biker out there! ;-) Yeah, I was wondering why he wasn't just "trialsing" a bunch of that impossible stuff. Didn't know he intentionally avoided using trials technique. Watching him spend a whole entire day practicing on the snotch made me realize how often I take the easy way out in life, lol!

I'm not one to typically take the time to leave a comment on a video. But, I felt compelled to today to let you know how much I enjoy your videos. Skiing (both resort and backcountry) are my primary vices, but I started mountain biking two years ago. I found your channel this past summer and have been watching religiously ever since. While someone like Remy Metallier might have more intense riding videos, you are still my favorite MTB channel. Your sense of adventure, your transparency and genuineness of both the good and bad while on the trail, the hardships and suffering of challenging rides, and your constant kid-like joy and laughter while riding are what keep bringing me back. You inspire people every day to get outside and enjoy the natural world around them. You're one of the most refreshing personalities on RU-vid and I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your videos. Keep riding and I'll keep watching :)

The part no one ever talks about is just how significant the climb up Burro Pass is and the effect it has on the entire rest of the ride. It is a ferocious, hard climb and if you're not prepared it will make the rest of the trip miserable, if not dangerous as you get into it. As you mentioned, it's not just a free for all downhill for 30 miles from the top. There's still a lot of uphill along the way and if your fitness isn't up to the task you could easily find yourself in over your head.

I absolutely loved Hazard County and UPS! Most of the ride I loved, haha. It was super wet that morning, so Jimmy Keen was the thickest muck I've ever been through! Little sad the road to Burro Pass was closed when I did it, but probably for the best. I barely made it down as it was ;P ..like, literally. Almost fell off the cliff into the gorge, and once I got back to the sidewalk in town my back tire went flat. Still 10/10, would do again when I upgrade to a Canyon bike!

Nice job. Instead of watching this, I'm going out for a ride so perhaps sometime in the not too distant future, I'll have the base & fitness to ride TWE. I'll reward myself with this AFTER my ride!

Sarah has been conspicuously absent from the last few videos... Looks like a great ride but my skills aren't ready yet.

That spot where you stopped right around 19:30 is where I broke my neck. Made it past the first few drops and forgot there was a few more and started to slow down. Too late to speed up or stop once I got to them and endo'd right onto my head. I'm all better now though! 😅
