Beautiful demo, outstanding instrument and tone. Such a guitar is meant to be a number one instrument that will be heavily played. A good chance to sell all the guitars you don’t need and afford a very special instrument. The price is absolutely justified in my humble opinion.

I have a 2003 gibson 2019 r9 brazilian board, 60th 2020 1959 r9, and a nik huber orca, i have to say the nik huber takes it by a mile the guitar sounds so musical and addtionally it plays better than the r9. Also if you're into modding and changing pick ups it takes on other pick ups better than the r9. Really great guitar cant recommend it enough. Would suggest a semi gloss back and satin neck for a better feel.
Hi Russel, I am considering a 2020 R9 and a nik huber Orca 59 and curious what you find more musical about the huber? I love the midrange of a good les paul. Do you get that with the Huber as well? I thought a 25" fingerboard takes some of the midrange out and brings a little more bite. Really appreciate your feedback. Best Gabriel
I doubt that you will convince the Gibson fan-boys. No guitar can be better than one out of the Gibson CS. 😉 That said, unfortunately I don't own a Nik Huber so far, since I am missing the pocket change for it right now. But it is definitely on my wish list and it will be a nice addition to my '84 LP Custom and which I will keep for nostalgic reasons then (bought it new back in the day, I basically learned really playing guitar on it).
Exceptional! Don’t know if the finish has as much effect as you say just because it’s not glossy, still finished the pores aren’t open for sure. Would love one but at £8000 I can’t. Hopefully someone who can appreciate and use in a good way will.
Hi Jack, you do a great job demoing the gear. Fine player, and I appreciate the insight. One thing I feel is missing is you need to always let us know what the signal chain is. What amp, what pedal, what cab and how it's recorded. This demo sounds killer so what amp and pedal or just amp. I see the Dr, Z but it sounds to gainy to be just the amp based on where the knobs are. You guys would sell more gear if you market the other items as well. Just my thoughts. Great job keep it up.
@@PeachGuitars sounds like a short delay was used on some parts in the early part which sounds brilliantly ambient without being messy on the attack and clarity when not single noted what pedal was it and also the reverb used I’m guessing was from the amp
Great review BUT if it's a sprayed finish it has nothing to do with the pores of the wood. The difference between a satin or a high gloss finish is just the texture or lack of texture (perfectly flat surface with no scratches aka high gloss). An oil finish with a satin appearance is probably what you are thinking of in this video. The zingy top end will most likely come from the brazilian board which has more of a bell like ring and his pickups.
I'm sure its a great guitar but I clicked on this thinking awesome, another guitar brand thats inspired off a 59 les paul, like eastman thats obtainable!... I was wrong, 8k!!!! Its does sound lovely though. The Maz impresses me every single video! So open, detailed, hi fi but still warn and juicy, what an amp! One day I'll get one.
Ever seen Joe Bonamassa? Or any of the guys still playing their 60s and 50s Gibsons and Fenders? Then you have seen someone playing an even more expensive guitar.
I agree you can get a Custom made Corsa guitar a manalishi for half the price, made in USA by an excellent luthier I recommend you check them out. No doubt this is an awesome guitar and probably worth that type of money to the right person, just not to me.
Well... The Nik Huber guitars are completely hand-crafted by real very skilled luthiers and they only use the finest materials. Build quality is way superior to what comes auf of the Gibson CS. So the price is justified. And a Les Paul killer in regards to sound and refinements in concept. Of course, you can never convince Gibson fan-boys that any other guitar than a Gibson is the holy grail of guitars. Gibson could sell fire-wood having a Gibson logo on it and it would be still the best guitar in the world, right? ... ;)
Looks like a fine piece of instrument,, however to kill Gibson Huber should be selling these at the same amount or more as Gibson. Considering the price and specifics, this is a niche product as many alongside in the similar price range and by no means they are Gibson killers.
Regarding the building process and use of materials, you can compare it more to a PRS Private Stock guitar, not the regular production guitars. The price is justified. If you ever had one in your hands, you will agree.

Nice guitar but i think it is way overpriced...the sound is a little wierd for me, i dont know maybe is just me..maybe the amp or pedals..wondering how it sounds on pure clean
Nik Huber explained in one of his videos that those tops were cut back in the 50's, those tops were purchased by his father. he also emphasized that he really cares about environment, he explained that he is really open towards any alternatives. those tops were available and already cut so there was no harm of creating beautiful instruments out of it.
With this kind of argument you could also ask why anybody should buy a Gibson. There are many manufacturers out there doing better copies in mass production at a much lower price point. Nik Huber is a boutique and every instrument is completely hand-crafted built-to-order with highest craftsmanship and finest materials. To compare a guitar like this to something rolling out of a mass producing plant is like comparing a cheap street-booth painting to a Rembrandt. And it doesn't try to copy the Gibson LP 100%. It takes it as a basis and Huber made subtle changes to the design and concept to make it a better guitar. Play one and you may like it or not. But I can tell you, that I tried one and since then an Orca is at the top of my wish list. And when I'll have it, I know that I'll be keeping my very good '84 LP Custom only for sentimental reasons, because I got it brand new as a present back then by my father and I basically learned to really play really on it.
Over 8000€ for a les Paul copy with a goofy neck joint and headstock design! That's even more expensive than a PRS private stock. It's not like the Brazilian rosewood makes it that much more expensive; there are hundreds of PRS's that could be had with Brazilian rosewood boards that are barely more expensive than their Indian Rosewood counterparts. I'd rather buy 60th anniversary Gibson Les Paul R9 reissue and put the extra 3K in my pocket. At least it is guaranteed to hold its value better than this thing.
Always funny how people rage about an instrument the they never had the chance to play before. I can tell you from experience, that the Orca is worth every cent. ... one of the next guitars on my wish list. And if you'll ever have the privilege to get your hands on one, you'll definitely change your mind.
People might not be able to play live David but they are certainly still playing, collectors are still collecting and we're still making videos. It's an exceptional guitar well worthy of the screen time!
That's BS... Not every musician is starving. Of course it is a bit expensive for the guitar teacher who is playing in two party cover bands. But even then... classical musicians pay way more for their instruments and its not that they make more money in average. It is always a question of perspective and how much I am willing to invest in my tools I am working with. A lot of the musicians I know (including myself) possess quite a collection of instruments and quite a few of them own valuable vintage and boutique instruments. So maybe the poor street musician can't afford an instrument like this, but the regular working pro can and will, if he sees the need or desire.
