I never expected the words "most beloved assassinated presidents" to ever be said in that order! 😂😂 Also, I loved the shot at the end of you adding the pressed pennies to the Piggy Weavil.

One of my worst childhood memories is viewing the liberty bell and back in the early 90s you could get right up and touch it. A security guard told me to touch it for good luck and then angrily scolded me for cracking it! 😱 I was probably 8 years old! Scarred me for life!

Morning Jacob 🤓📸 I've been to Philadelphia to see the library bell 🔔 in person, i been to the mutter museum in the past as well saw the old capital buildings, gone to Chinatown we eat at a Korean restaurant there. It was small lol this was in 2005 my dad and my middle brother cause im the youngest the third in the family. Thanks for sharing this. Take care my friend. ✌️

Back in the mid 90's, I was a cast member of the Philadelphia Towne Criers. We dressed in Colonia garb, greeted tourists, and performed skits. It was a lot of fun. So, seeing you there takes me back. The Liberty Bell was in a smaller building from 1975 in the center of the quad and The Visitors Center hadn't been built yet. It's so much better now. You should also see the Benjiman Franklin Museum. It's under ground!

Went to Philly back in the early 70's on my seventh grade school trip. Back then the bell was not in a house of it's own and we were able to touch it. Tickets were not necessary for Independance Hall either. We went on a permanently docked ship named the Olympia. My how times have changed.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! SO MUCH for having such a great and positive Visiting Philadelphia (my home city) video. I'm going to share it with everyone, I know they will love it. If you are ever back again, I can suggest all the best things! I think you'd really like visiting Eastern State Penitentiary. It's creepy even during the day on a regular history tour. And I agree with one of the other comments, if you haven't visited The Mutter Museum, totally in the Carpetbagger wheelhouse of places.

Thanks for coming and visiting Philadelphia’s historical area. Too bad you missed getting into independence hall. This time of the year is usually a good time to visit. Summer time these areas are always busy. I am glad you were able to try one of our local favorite foods, the cheese steak. In general you can get a good one at most places that offer them. Reading Terminal Market is one place with several cheese steak outlets. This is the building that used to be under the old Reading Railroad Terminal on Market Street. It is now under part of the convention center. I know you like odd items and one of them is if you enter the Convention Center from the Market street entrance you will see some metal strips in the floor. This represents where the old tracks were located in the building. Keep taking us to interesting areas.

@TheCarpetbagger Jacob, there is a bell that celebrates a 50th anniversary Milestone next year in 2025.That is the bell of the Famous Edmund Fitzgerald that is on display in The Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum in Paradise, Michigan not that far from Whitefish Point where the ship went down. I would go early in the season to see that bell before the bigger crowd gets there, and they have the Reading of the Nanmes and Ceremonial Ringing of the Bell for those lost in November. Yes, I'm talking about the same ship that the late Gordon Lightfoot sang about in "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald."

When I was seven or eight, my parents and I took a trip to Philadelphia in our Winnebago. We saw Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, as well as Valley Forge. It was a heady experience for me as an impressionable young man and that was where my love or history began. And the cheeesteaks are good because they have to be, or they wouldn't last long in a city that takes it's cheeesteaks as serious as Philly.

@Themeparkhero
@Themeparkhero 4 месяца назад
@@MichaelReynolds-ff6wr No, there is a very good article about it online for thedp, but it basically boils down to it being 1968 halftime at an eagles game when the team was probably to worst its ever been and it snowed the night before and they couldn't clear the stadium of snow. People were cold, anger and miserable and santa came out during halftime and if you have ever been to a sporting event then I shouldn't have to tell you that once sometime happens, a lot of people tend to roll with it lol, especially in Philly.

Thanks for visiting Philadelphia. We have many more historical sites you can visit. As you noted the cheese steak as well as the hoggie and the soft pretzel as well as traditional Italian water ice are considered local favorite foods. You most likely did the best thing enjoying a cheese steak from one of the food trucks. Pat and Gino’s are very famous and I have eaten at both places but I have found most other places serve a better sandwich. While cheese wiz is a big thing with both of them most establishments feature real cheese on your steak sandwich: American, provolone, or Swiss provide a much better added flavor. Of course there are also many other variables you can order such as onions, raw or fried, peppers, sweet or hot, pickle and at some places other additions. So to really try our favorite local cheese steak you need to eat one from various locations to pick your best. As for food in center city I also recommend Reading Terminal Market. This location has many great food outlets as well as places to buy food to take home and enjoy. It is located next to the Convention Center under what was originally the Reading Railroad Terminal and now serves as part of the Convention Center entrance on Market street. One interesting feature of this part of the Convention Center is they placed metal strips in the floor where the railroad tracks used to be located.

I found this on Wikipedia Ona "Oney" Judge Staines (c. 1773 - February 25, 1848) was an enslaved biracial woman who was owned by the Washington family, first at the family's plantation at Mount Vernon and later, after George Washington became president, at the President's House in Philadelphia, then the nation's capital city.[1] In her early twenties, she absconded, becoming a fugitive slave, after learning that Martha Washington had intended to transfer ownership of her to her granddaughter, known to have a horrible temper. She fled to New Hampshire, where she married, had children, and converted to Christianity. Though she was never formally freed, the Washington family ultimately stopped pressing her to return to Virginia after George Washington's death.
