I feel the passion.. The love of it.. Hello! I'm a random 12 year old female. And I had dreams of the house, Emily lived in. it's kind of frightening, but I feel spooked out whenever I hear the name or talk about her. like if I knew her. I also love to make poems.

Who's here because of "Dickinson?"

Edward Dickinson built the house known as the Evergreens for Austin and his new wife, Susan Gilbert Dickinson, to keep him in Amherst. Austin was considering moving away. The house was located next door to the Dickinson house known as The Homestead. Not mentioned is Emily Dickinson's dog, a Newfoundland, her constant companion for 17 years and which she often walked with in town. The dog's name was Carlo. It died in 1866. It was only after Carlo's death that Emily became more reclusive. If one reads Alfred Habbeger's biography on Dickinson titled, "The Wars Are Laid Away In Books," and the chapter in Maureen Adams' book "Shaggy Muses" about Emily Dickinson's dog Carlo, and a book titled "Ancestor's Brocades: The Literary Debut of Emily Dickinson" by Millicent Todd Bingham, Mabel Loomis Todd's daughter, one will have a fuller understanding and a far more accurate picture of Emily Dickinson's life than the usual myths shared about her. The piece by Maureen Adams in "Shaggy Muses," is just excellent. A very different Emily Dickinson is revealed. Habbeger's biography helps considerably to flesh out her life and why she and her family were so private. The book by Millicent Todd Bingham through letters written by the players at the time reveal much too about Emily Dickinson and those who knew her. The three books are essential reading for anyone interested in Dickinson's life and poetry. There are many more that are excellent.

E. Deckinson, the mysterious poet ever come acrosss, her poems, though, hard and so difficult to, entirely, comprehend, yet there is a joy or special comfort when you navigate in her own so exclusive realm of strange images, norms, beliefs, and meanings.
