The Life and Tragic Ending of Don Adams 

Get Smart was very funny... loved Don Adams.

He was also the Voice of Tennessee Tuxedo (before Get Smart)

My late father actually met him in the late 1960’s, just as “Get Smart” was entering it’s final season with CBS. Dad could tell this story better than I could. My Dad was a returning war amputee from Vietnam, and he was part of a group of fellow war amputees that was invited to CBS to meet the celebrities as a favor. They met Adams only briefly, but he was dressed in the costume and they were happy to see him. He signed their autographs and took a picture with them and was most courteous and kind. But Dad observed that “he never said anything.” He smiled, but he seemed a little bit tired and perhaps was having a rough day on set. Or maybe he was trying to remember his script lines as he seemed to be heading for the set. Anyways, my Dad remembered him fondly and I am one of the few Millennials who was raised on TV Land reruns of Get Smart.

I loved Don Adams ! But like alot of American actors their characters never left them!!! Adam West was another he is Batman!!! Larry storch in F troop !!! Ernest Borgnine as Quinten McHale in Mc hales navy !! Lol their all passed on now but never forgotten!!! Rip guys ! You were the best!!!!

why are all celebrity deaths highlighted sad? Most are just normal long lives and typical deaths.

My family loved the series. New Zealand Broadcasting bought the series. We thought he was the only one to be able to do the character! They were broadcasted in B&W🤣

He had that familiar firecraking voice from his stint in the U.S. Marine Corps.

So I discovered recently that Don Adam's Daughter Cecily married Jim Beaver (The guy that plays Bobby in Supernatural and is also a writer of the show) They have a daughter named Madeline. Jim Beaver has actually been quite open about the losses of Cecily, Sean Adams (Don Adam's only son) and Don Adams himself. all three were lost in a matter of two years. Cecily in 2004 from lung cancer and Sean in 2006 to a brain tumor. (Don himself in 2005 as this video states) Don Adams first wife and Cecily's mom, Adelaide died June 26, 2016. Jim Beaver has a public post about it on Facebook. Just want to thank Jim Beaver for keeping us posted because without him much of what happen to Don Adam's family would be lost to the public.

What tragic ending!!! Don Adams was 82 not 28 when he died, starred in one of the most iconic sitcoms ever produced and had 'the smarts' (pardon the pun) to take a cut of profits instead of a higher salary ensuring he had a healthy cash flow until he died. Btw I'm watching Get Smart now and it is still as good as when it first aired. Genius comedy.

Would you believe... They also left out the terrific, made for TV reunion flick, “Get Smart, Again”! Much more like the original series, than any of the other attempts.

No mention of Inspector Gadget... That's like talking about Frank Welker and skipping over his role as Fred Jones

Where is the tragedy? 82 isn't a bad run, and he was moderately successful.
