The stores’ converting to a Burlington Coat Factory and a Five Below was spot on! So was the Toys Я Us converting to a Halloween Headquarters during that season.
I remember when my dad told me our toys R Us in america closed " forever " i sobbed for 2 hours straight ( 2018 ) and now im even sadder and miss it more cuz we moved countries and it had toys R Us but when we wanted to go there , it turns out its also closed -
Im 32 and still a toys r us kid. as a adult i can make my hotwheels cars go dangerously fast on the track with a little mod i did on the booster. I put a trampoline inflator motor in the booster with lots of grease around the gears. Its best to not listen to your parents when they tell you to grow up cuz you can discover new things to make your toys even more fun! Im working on a clock in the house that'll send cars down to tell the hour down a track that goes through every room of the house. the rec room theres a drift track and a few loops im working on. the attic im working on a 500 car carousel lego robot controlled to send the cars down the track to tell the hour. The cars make it back up the attic through a belt elevator i designed to carry the cars back up. Its a lot of work and still putting holes in the walls for the tracks
A Canadian here. For some reason, our Toy’s R Us closed in the cheaper mall, opened a popup store in a more expensive mall for Christmas, then proceeded to take over 2 floors and merged 2 separate stores.
for those who miss toys r us there are still some in other countries (like Portugal and Spain due to being owned by other people) and i think it's returning in the US
Where i live, i remember a toysrus near a chucky cheese and was basically the funniest place on earth for me when i was a child, then when toysrus was comfirmed to be bankrupt my local toysrus closed down and years later turned into a furniture shop…
January 2024: Burlington and Five Below demolished March 2024: under construction April 2024: Burlington turned into Walmart, Five Below turned into 7 Eleven
sad thing but about 3 years ago my local toys r us closed down, and it was probably the best toy store out there in my opinion, and some stupid furniture store bought it
I had a toy r us / babies r us up where I live in Illinois they closed both of them in 2018 or 17 then the building sat abandoned for a couple years then a warehouse came into the building lasted like two weeks and now it’s just a building with no tenants and it has stayed that why for 2 years
"Yeah, God forbid we go back to Spirit Halloween and Toy City.." "Yeah, those days were shitty as. Don't even bring up Target." "Yeah, I won't. I hate being a Burlington. I wanna be Toys R Us again." "Don't we all-" "Not every store."
