Terrible dub aside, the animation and the art here are absolutely gorgeous! Clamps designs, especially their earlier ones were always completely gorgeous.
I never minded most of the dubbing for the original dub,(animax was far worse) and it helps that most of the main cast had experience, and the VA for Sakura being an actual girl helped at times with the earnest portrayal.
Even though the voice acting is terrible, there is just something so comforting about hearing this voice that brings me back to a kid on kids WB that got me interested in this series to begin with. Obviously I prefer the Japanese with subs but as a kid this worked just fine
Ah, Yue--I remember this well from the English dub. Final Judgment always left a sad memory on me because the dub never was shown past that episode on Kids WB!, or at least from what I saw. It would take me until 2008 to get back into this anime and watch it Japanese subbed to find out what happened.
This was my childhood and well I prefer the English dub. I've watched the Japanese one too, (two years ago to be precise) however the storyline was much better. I was sad to have missed out on the love story but as a kid this show for me was all about magic and mystery, not love.
I realise this video is like 10 years old, but i'm wondering how you got a version of this dub with such clear sound. The sound on the versions of this dub i've found online have allot of sound issues, while they don't completely ruin it it can be distracting.
Erm, no offense or anything, but compared to the English Dub, I think I preferred the Japanese Dub of this... Sakura sounds waaaaaay older than she looks and Kero's voice seems to be a touch off while Syaoran's voice...well, it doesn't really matter I like the anime all the same...
@TsukiyoTenshi I actually prefer the English over the Japanese dub. At least Sakura doesn't scream in a high pitch voice "Hoeeeeee!!!!!!". That annoyed the heck out of me when I watched the Japanese version for the first time! Least with her sounding older the voice isn't as grating. Plus I felt like with Tomoyo her voice sounded a little too cutesy and kinda fake sounding. Kero's Japanese voice annoyed me too. It was just as loud and annoying as Sakura's voice. Hate me all you like but I mean it. I can like Japanese versions but when they do a little girl, it sounds phoned in and really high pitch even for a kid character.
Oh hell no I was trying to tell my boy for years that cardcaptures was the source for a lot of pokemon look at espion and in on of the episodes there's a pick cat with a long tail that looks just like espion
Cody Miller I thought I was the only one. It might be "wrong" to so many people but this show was my childhood and it's the only way I remember it. I've seen the other versions and realize how "wrong" this one is now. like they cut a lot of scenes and change a lot of wording but it's still my favorite version. That's why instead of not getting the whole story, instead of watching the better versions I just read the manga.

Her voice actress was actually the same age Sakura was supposed to be. So it was an actual 11 year old providing the voice and not the usual fully grown woman doing a child's voice.
would you believe me if I told you Sakura and Li's voice actors were 10 (Sakura) and 14 (Li) when they dubbed the anime? the other main characters were voiced by adults.
IAznFluffy so your statement of "they don't even sound like kids" isn't true when some were kids lol. Tomoyo's actor was 30 and she played her sounding like a teenager lol. Her mannerisms does make her sound a bit younger though.
+IAznFluffy 4th and 5th grade age are still children. have you heard the uncut dub? the voices are a lot worse. I cringe when I hear Sakura say Tomoyo's name for some strange reason.
I grew up on the English dub, and I've heard the Japanese version, personally I like the English dub better. The music makes it sound more mysterious, Sakura voice is tolerable where as I find the Japanese version annoying as hell. You may disagree with me but that's what I think of it.
I like both equally as much everyone always says Sakura's voice is annoying in the english dub but I actually kind of like it, it's like tomboyish Sakura was never exactly the girly kind of girl she loves sports and always has her hair short she isn't super girly and feminine like Tomoyo so I always thought it fit her character if it was like translated into english so I never had a problem with it. It does get nice to not have to hear the ' HOEEEEEHHHH ' all the time lmaoooo. And yeah the music makes it very suspensful which is nice but I also like the ost and music of the orginal japanese and the orginal sakura voice actor so like I say I like both.
Why does american TV always changes the original soundtrack of the anime for cheap ass ugly soundtracks -_- EVERY OTHER COUNTRY kept the original soundtrack, it fits much better
Ben Woo I'm betting it has to do with what they can sell more of. They aren't doing it to needlessly piss you off, they do it to sell more product, to make more money
Well actually I found my answer since then, its because its cheaper for american TV channels to make a new OST than to actually buy the rights for the real OST
@@Hellothere-ki3hn it's an English dub for an English audience in North America who speak with a different accent. Of course they will pronounce names differently. Why the hell do you even care so much? People can pick and choose whether they want to view the show in dub or sub. Seems like you only came to this video to spew pointless complaints.
Strange that they changed the summoning spell from "Power of the Dark" to "Power of Magic, Power of Light"... It's not like the show encouraged Black Magic or anything. No mention of a contract between Sakura and the Key either.
Damn compared with the original Japanese VA this one sounds a little emotionless lol. And please don't tell they didn't use the original soundtrack in the dub!!! 😱 ccs has the best ost idk why wouldn't use it for the dub
