Yeah that’s the point ultimately, this build is so fun and unique that I highly recommend everybody that has a paladin at least try it out. With Naxx and Ulduar on farm, people can just go for the offset holy pieces and build a nice off set Shockadin and go wild. It’s super fun to get into world PVP with this and take out annoying rogues and Druids spawn camping noobs in towns, highly recommend. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Man, why u playing with seal of righteousness? And u don't even glyphed it, why u don't use seal of vengeance/corruption plus libram of vigilant? When it procs it gives u 200 str and when u 5 stack seal of vengeance ur judgment is more powerful. I wanna learn shockadin, please excuse me if I offended you I'm just curious.

So, for starters, we’re in Phase 1 of WOTLK on Classic, so I’m not sure Libram of Valiance is out yet. Second, ideally we’re using a one-handed +Spellpower weapon, which will typically have much lower weapon damage. As far as I know, Seal of Corruption uses Weapon Damage as part of its damage scaling and also lower spellpower scaling than Seal of Righteousness. So while we end up with roughly the same DPS with either Seal if you can stick in melee with your target, a lot of the time you’ll be dancing around, healing, and attacking at range. If you do this, Corruption stacks will fall off very quickly in PVP. But ultimately, Strength and Melee damage is a very, very low factor in this build. We want big, heavy spell casts from Holy Shock and Exorcism as well as stronger heals from Flash of Light. To achieve that goal, I’ve boosted Spellpower wherever I can using 1 handed SP weapons and (ideally) the Gladiator Libram to boost Flash of Light’s DIRECT spellpower component by upwards of 200 depending on which you can afford through your arena rating. The one I featured in this build (Hateful Gladiator) gives +293 directly to Flash of Light, which helps your survivability tremendously. Spellpower and crit are what I’ve talented and geared for here in this build because those stats far outweigh the minor benefits to melee damage output from mixing Spell Power and Attack Power. There are definitely ways to edit this build, and I have admittedly not delved too deeply into getting significant amounts of Attack Power into the mix to boost Exorcism (which scales equally off SP & AP), but since it’s incredibly difficult to keep yourself alive without large amounts of spellpower if you sacrifice too much for Strength and AP, sticking with Spell Power is your best bet if you want to try this build in particular.

Thank you for answering, so instead of Glyph of Holy shock and glyph of exorcism can I take those of Salvation and righteousness? I know that my exorcism will be weaker, but what if my other defensive spells are still in cd? I have to survive somehow. And I didn't saw you using art of war proc for instant healung? Or maybe I've just missed it. I only saw you many times to stop on spot and casting. And what do you think? Fanaticism or Blessed Life is better? Fanaticism give more crit chance of Judgments and the other talent gives 10% chance to me to take only helf damage but it's not for every hit and attack it says 10%

@@kristianhadzhiev4479 Holy Shock gives faster healing AND damage, so I think that glyph is mandatory honestly, but yes you can definitely swap to another glyph instead of exorcism. Just depends on what you want to do - more damage or more survivability. And yeah I was healing a lot more than just with Art of War bc my partner is a squishy Boomkin who needs a lot of love and care lol. Art of War healing is a powerful supplement when you’re fighting in melee, but sometimes you just have to hard cast some stuff. Same with Exorcism. Sometimes it’s better to hard cast it so you can chain Holy Shock right to the end of it and hit for like 6 or 7K damage at once. For your last comment, I take Blessed Life because I don’t feel that 3 points spent making judgment crit more is entirely worth it. You can absolutely take that, and you will get more Art of War procs if you do, but I think it’s funnier to be fighting in the middle of like 3 enemies and somehow magically surviving against all odds. When stuff like that happens, it’s because of Blessed Life. An astute observer will notice my own build is pretty memey. I have the Meta gem with +Crit and 1% Spell Reflect, Blessed Life, etc., the whole thing is meant to just be an absolutely menacingly annoyance. So honestly take whatever talents you feel like you need, it’s hard to mess up the Shockadin IMO, as long as you take most of the same core talents.

I took holy shock and Holy guidance and my last 3 points I spent on repentance and 2 for art of war talent and I didn't took judgment of the wise, do you think it's a good idea? You know this means no instant mana gain. And if u can tell me a 2 handed weapon with spell power it will be cool cuz I wanna play my shockadin with 2 handed weapon.

@@yankee2238 I promise, give this a shot and you can take them. Aura mastery on fire resist aura blunts so much of their damage and the whole time you’re slapping them back. Get through their burst and it’s game over for them while they panic and run to a corner to try to evocate

I did mess around with that for a bit when wrath first dropped, it’s why I discovered the nasty instant cast turn evil combo on Unholy DKs. So fun to send their gargoyle packing for so long, mess up their CD. But ultimately I think this build was safer and I just needed the consistent mana and damage reflection to stand my ground against suuuuch heavy melee comps. I had so many enhancement shaman, rogues, and DKs murder themselves on me without even doing any real damage to them myself. When ICC is in full swing I’m gonna try to make this shit PVE compatible with some friends. Purifying power coming back for that for sure.

You’re spot on with everything you’ve said. Deeper Ret to get more judgment crits is absolutely viable with the rest of the build, I just struggle to give up on Blessed Life as I love the talent and it really comes in clutch when you’re getting focused. Yes, sometimes it procs on a lame 300 damage dot tick and you take an 8k lava burst to the face, but sometimes you cut that 8k down to 4k and it’s glorious for survivability. It all depends on if you can stomach the randomness of it. Through extensive testing, I’ve found judgments and melees to crit enough for me with this build to maintain Vengeance and Art of War, but if you think you need the extra crit by all means - it’s your build. Crusade is a little easier to drop points from to go for extra move speed, and that’s a lot more of a preference decision. I gave up on small movement speed increases because as Paladin we have Hand of Freedom. Outside of HOF, your 15% extra move speed from pursuit of Justice is rarely going to “keep you in melee.” I don’t say that to be condescending, only to point out that slows are INCREDIBLY abundant in the game, and even glancing at a frost mage the wrong way will drop you down to like half move speed. Throw in warriors, rogues, earthbind totem, entangling roots, and whatever else from other classes and you’ll often find that being 15% faster does very little for you. Just my personal opinion and obviously if you want to run Pursuit, more power to you. Both are equally viable IMO. Thank you for watching and commenting! Good luck out there!

Spot on. You’re not going to blow someone up in one combo anymore like TBC, but you are an absolute juggernaut of a tanky boi especially against melee opponents. All in all, it’s terribly fun to play and that’s the best part of any class IMO. Thanks for watching!

Honestly a big inspiration for this was a build that I memed it up with back in 2009, where Prot Paladins could heal like monsters with the original Guarded by the Light talent that gave spell power based on stamina. Preg is certainly strong, but (and I’m not exaggerating) I have beaten every Preg paladin that I’ve come into contact with. All the armor and defensives in the world doesn’t stop the crazy amount of reflective and holy damage this build puts out with good procs. In any event, it’s all about trying new things and having fun. This build definitely checks the fun box.

@@DryCerealGaming it's really bizarre how many ppl have picked up preg and spend more time using Art of war procs for exorcism instead of off healing with flash of light like you're suppose to and they play it like a ret pal instead of a hpal with offensive capabilities

@@debatinghealer I’ve largely played tanks throughout my time with WoW, so I prefer being in a supportive role - which is pretty much how I built this spec out. Damage where nobody expects it, but the utility and direct healing to keep friends alive. I’m shocked so many people are playing Preg honestly, and most people you come across just try to play it like a warrior, ramming their face into you.

I think the earliest you can get Holy Shock, if I’m doing my mental math right here, is level 40. So if you want to just rush straight for Holy Shock you have to dump points into Holy all the way to get that. Realistically you should rush to get Holy Shock (ignore blessed life until the 70s) if you want to be a “pure shockadin” bc you’ll pick up Shock and then enjoy seeing the power grow with all the Ret talents after that. At least that’s what I would do. You’ll probably be a little slower to level though at lower levels, but it’s really up to you! I could try to make a spec by the levels if you want! I’d probably do something like this for level 40: www.wowhead.com/wotlk/talent-calc/paladin/053501500200132301 Bit of advice from my personal leveling experience: you will be hurting on mana while spamming consecration and holy shock along with judgement and other things, so keep blessing of wisdom on while grinding and don’t forget to use Aura Mastery in combo with Retribution Aura when you do big AoE pulls to really shred melee mobs to pieces! After 40 just go down Ret exactly as I have in the vid and you’ll be golden, you can respec the holy tree when you get to a higher level!

Off the top of my head, I’d say yes. I’m not overly familiar with Warmane’s mechanics (if there are any major differences) but I plan to try out both a PvP AND PvE version of this once ICC drops for Classic. With some funky talent adjustments in the Holy tree, massively increased spellpower scaling on gear, and the abundance of Undead in ICC’s patch, I think you could make a case for some decent damage output by including Holy Wrath and more Exorcism spamming with the right build. I’ll have to take a look to say for sure, but regardless of patch this build just works. Paladins are so super tanky at all phases of WOTLK that I think you can easily translate the “Holy Bruiser” aspect of this video into any situation. ​​@@DryCerealGaming hello there I'm completely new to paladin tbh but when I saw your message I was really looking forward to level one only for the purpose of shockadin. I had a reality check having a chat with really decent paladins horde and alliance telling me shockadin was viable in the start of the wotlk but with the icc phase of warmane unfortunately shockadins are not viable and suggested me to play preg instead for solo wpvp and duelling I was really disappointed but because I'm stubborn I will level a pala on warmane and try out myself using your guide and if is a fail I can always blame you 😅

@@XPISTOS-ANESTHdo it. Preg is boring IMO (and that’s coming from ME - a lifelong protection paladin player since I first got this game in 2007 lol). This build will rock Preg paladins in any phase, guaranteed.

I definitely could, if the internet can stomach my hardwired backpedaling from being a tank all my life lol. But with my Boomkin partner we got somewhere like mid 1700s or so before I made this and took a break for the holiday season. The only classes we actively struggled against were priests and shaman because of mass dispel and purge spamming. Dispel hurts this spec extra hard because all of the Retribution-side abilities are temp magic buffs that can be purged, but that same issue goes for any Retribution paladin as well so it's not 100% damning. If you can line their spamming and make them fight you on your terms you do a lot better, but it's rough going until you learn the strengths or you have a good partner that can pressure them into healing or running away instead of spamming. When I get back from the holiday break I'll definitely look into putting some more gameplay up! Thanks for watching and commenting!

I’d rather lose a point in a damage increasing talent I think. Especially when facing purge spammers or mana burning priests, you will need every single point of mana you can get. Without a 100% guarantee on mana regen you’re going to get murdered, and it’s already tough even with 3/3 judgments of the wise. They’ll just keep dispelling it, so might as well get a few seconds of guaranteed uptime on Replenishment if you can help it. Just my personal experience though, these builds are so malleable that anything can work as long as you generally pick up the main talents. Thanks for watching!

You can definitely get past 1600 with this. I did and I’m like the furthest thing from an arena professional. I mean it’s definitely not the most meta or optimal build by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s definitely powerful in the right situations. You’ll destroy melee focused comps, and you have good emergency heals and protective spells to help a teammate if they’re in trouble. The biggest issues you’ll face will be against purge spammers and mana burners, but only if you and your teammate can’t put pressure on them. Pillar dance and get in their face, alternate your stuns with your partner and use the avenging wrath holy shock burn to really put the hurt on people. The best part about this build is that literally nobody has any idea what you’re doing and they will try to fight you like a regular melee dps. And they’ll lose. Most addons tell people that you’re a retribution paladin, so they won’t expect your range, survivability or heals. Play to your strengths and you can do it!

You could definitely level from the start with this. Lower levels your dps isn’t dictated too much by talents choices, and I think it’s a lot of fun to grab Shock ASAP at level 40 and then watch your power skyrocket with all the Ret talents. It’s definitely initially slower, but once you start getting some proper Ret talents under your belt (and in particular Judgments of the Wise) you’ll start seeing the power. It’s tons of fun, and something different to try out instead of the standard Ret dps build.

Here I just made this for another commenter: www.wowhead.com/wotlk/talent-calc/paladin/053501500200132301 Start with that in Holy and then just bum rush down Ret like the video shows and you’ll be golden. The build really takes off in efficiency when you start getting points into judgements of the wise, so I’d supplement with improved blessing of wisdom and purifying power until then. In retrospect this what I should have done while leveling but even without these more efficient mana talents in Holy it still functions. And you can aoe almost as well as a prot paladin to boot.

You can definitely troll some 2s with this, it’s a ton of fun and is primarily what I did when I was experimenting with this build. My partner was a boomkin for the crazy burst pressure we could apply in our DPS windows, but there are a lot of ways to blunt spell damage with absorbs and shields so sometimes your burst gets frozen in place and you start to struggle if people are good. I’d say warriors are a good combo, hunters and mages as well for the constant ranged pressure and utility. If you can partner with someone with good utility and offheals like a shaman or a priest as well you’d probably do well. Really you want your partner to be a very solid constant stream of damage so you can do your thing with less pressure. You’ll be targeted out of the gate a bunch of times because most addons will identify you as a holy paladin, but if the enemy team is primarily melee they literally won’t be able to kill you the entire fight. This build EXCELS against double melee! Good luck out there!

It’s unnecessary IMO. You have a strong, spammable instant cast ranged attack, so even if your opponent tries to get away you can zap them. Pursuit of Justice is fine, and take it if you can’t live without it, I just tried to stuff every point of damage in here as was reasonably possible. Since this build excels against melee opponents, I found it almost entirely unnecessary to be moderately faster when they have to come to you anyway. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Thanks for watching! The first quests I did were the ones outside the Horde Expedition camp at Borean Tundra with all the undead spiders and it was so much fun. This build wrecks undead like no tomorrow bc Exorcism auto crits and you can toss Holy Wrath in for more damage. I mean Ret can do that too, but there’s something magical about doing it as a crazy crusading Shockadin. Highly recommend it. Gonna try to make this work in PVE too with some deeper Holy talents when we get to ICC.

Haha yes a man after my own heart. For a long time I was combining Darkmoon Card: Death and Horn of the Fury to try to blow people up with lucky procs, but eventually I had to transition to the PVP medallion just to survive. There’s actually another trinket you get from Icecrown (I think) called the Lightning Capacitor, which stores charges on you every time you get a critical hit. Once you hit 4 charges it shoots a lightning bolt for like 1.5k damage, but the cool part is that the stacks stay on you even out of combat. So you can sit at 3 charges all of the time, enter combat and use Divine Favor + Holy Shock to guarantee the 4th crit, and hit someone for like almost 10k damage in one shot. I used this while I was leveling 70-80 and had 3 charges on me all the time to just destroy people that tried to gank me lol.

Something with the way it scaled based on my spellpower + attack power values they ended up being about the same damage, and though staying in melee was more important you lose a lot of damage from vengeance if you ever lose the stacks. Either way, both are good, don't get me wrong. But righteousness seemed more relevant most of the time in arenas/BGs. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Hey man, no not offended at all - really appreciate you taking the time to comment. So first off, Holy Guidance (if I’m remembering correctly off the top of my head) is too far down in Holy to pick up in full (5/5) without sacrificing either Art of War or Judgments of the Wise - both of which are 100% fundamental to the way I built this spec. If I take 2 out of sanctified wrath and 1 point out of judgements of the wise (crippling our mana regen btw, bc the chance would not be 100%), I could take your 2 points in holy guidance for a small amount of spell power. Or I could just gear out the teeth for spell power on every piece I can find. Which I think is the preferable option in this scenario just based on my personal experience actually playing with the spec in game. Mana is critical especially against priests and shaman. Would I love more spellpower? Absolutely. But in practice, having infinite mana and instant cast flash of lights / exorcisms is far more useful in battle IMO. Second, the libram of blinding light I’m pretty certain is a libram from ICC’s patch and I made this during Naxx. I’m sure there are tons of improved libram choices out there that would beat the snot out of the ones I’ve showcased here, but as this video stands I think it’s a good representation of what someone can get geared up in as soon as they hit 80 and then they can go nuts in PvP or whatever. No offense taken at all. You’ve got the idea down. More spellpower, more crit = more survivability. Fundamentally speaking, you can really build this spec anyway you want as long as you keep the general core of it intact. If you don’t like sanctified wrath, drop it and go more holy for guidance or something. You’ll heal more and be more survivable and a slightly stronger support. @@DryCerealGaming Well yea I mean judgment of the wise is really important talent, but since you will have like 12 13 or maybe even 15 and because my partner is frost mage I will have 15k mana and even above, so I was thinking of dropping Sanctified Wrath, Judgment of the Wise and Fanticism talents and invest points in Holy power for 5% crit, Divine intellect for even more mana which equals more spell power and Holy Guidance talents and even 2 points in Blessed hands for the 10% improved hand of sacrifice reduce dmg to help out in arena I mean since your will be using gear for holy paladin this means every piece of your gear will give intellect as stat and because of holy guidance it means more spell power, take glyph of Judmgent, Exorcism and Turn Evil for instant cast and when I said Libram of Blinding Light I said it because me and my friend will start soon if a 3.3.5 server and that is the whole point of my question. So you will still have Repentance and art of proc which means 2 stuns and 2 instant heals and exorcism plus holy shock which means 2 ranged spells against casters because as we all know every paladin's weakness is a caster so I though my idea is good, what do you say? If you are going to ask why no take glyph of holy shock it's because I think 1 second faster is not a big deal oh and I took purifying power talent for 10% mana reduce of cleanse, purify and consecration spells and 33% short cooldown of Exorcism and Holy wrath which makes exorcism from 15 to 10 seconds cooldown and I even took improved conc aura to help my mage partner and seal of command to be better in bg and bully and annoy the opposite side 😂😂

Link me a build with everything if you can, I wanna see it all together. But I really will stick to my guns on Judgments of the Wise. I think our biggest weakness, especially if you try to do the whole healing + damage thing, is mana efficiency and especially against people that can mana burn or purge your buffs. If you have no way to get your mana back on your own terms, what do you do against a Shaman that purges all your buffs? What do you do against a priest that just spams mana burn on you? Doesn’t matter how much mana you have in total if they take it all from you. Idk just my preference after playing it. Always take Holy Power for crit, that’s part of my build in this video I’m pretty sure. Holy guidance and divine intellect are fine but again you’re losing out on mana regen. Wrath doesn’t have to be a thing but it does help with cooldowns and damage absorbs which are super prevalent in Wrath. Just think of what you have as absorbs as a Paladin, most people have a lot of ablative stuff like us nowadays. But yeah there are a ton of ways to do this. Blessed Hands is fine in place of like unyielding faith or something. Purely a preference thing, and it sounds like you have a preference down which is awesome. It’s funny your partner is a Frost Mage my original partner in like 2009 was a frost mage back when Guarded by the Light in the Protection tree gave you spell power based on your total stamina. I used to play this same idea of a main healer as a purely Protection Paladin using Guarded by the Light and tank gear and it was a lot of fun, I guess the precursor to what people now call “Preg Ret” except I was Prot/Holy. Wrath really was/is so fun.

Absolutely. If I was tailoring I would have done that, but I’ve always been blacksmithing/mining throughout WoW’s history so I just stick with that cause it’s what I know. I stayed away from profession recommendations to make this feel more freeform, but yeah I would def get lightweave if you’re a tailor. JC will be great too for either more resilience or spellpower gems.

True, but it absolutely does cut down on most of the damage I’ve seen in logs. And if you’re fighting casters, Ret Aura isn’t doing anything for you anyway. It can be a life saver in the right situation.

Yeah like you said getting dispel spammed is hugely annoying, and not even for the regular reasons but because they can purge off Art of War, Replenishment, Sacred Shield, etc. It just starts to suck, but if your partner/team is halfway decent you can take some dispels while they blow up whoever’s fondling you. I like Sanctified Wrath honestly for the damage reduction bypass effect, and I’ve killed a fair few people with their defensive cooldowns up because of that, but your point is entirely valid. Like I said in the vid, if you can guarantee you can get off exorcisms and consistent offensive shocks, purifying power is a solid, solid talent. As for judgement, mine actually hits decently hard all things considered (at least as hard as any Ret pally has hit me for) but it definitely scales both ways with both AP and SP. Everything online that I’ve found makes it sound like it scales better with SP than AP, but idk if I believe that. Maybe even at best. You just have to have A LOT of spellpower to make this build function.

Oh to have never played world of Warcraft haha…highly recommend giving it a shot in whatever iteration you can find. If you’ve never played WoW, it’s a wild ride from start to finish. It’s just icy veins syndrome, man. People just have to imitate what they see online as the “best” or “most efficient.” I have no issues half clicking and half keybinds. Just how the brain works sometimes. And specs - exactly my thoughts. WoW used to be a very different game, full of experimentation and wonder. It’s gotten way too cookie cutter nowadays. Sorta kinda, I’ve been moving across the country and switched jobs so haven’t had my desktop with me to record anything for the last few months. It heavily depends on whether you consider something “off meta” to be a joke. This build really does work. It’s best against melee heavy teams because you absolutely shred melee attackers with buffed Retribution Aura, Eye for an Eye, shield block, and holy spell damage. Icyveins and Wowhead (along with the rest of the internet) will never admit that Shockadin can be a thing - but it definitely is. Nobody has any idea what you’re doing and the element of surprise alone often takes people entirely off guard when they think you’re just a healer and you start fighting them in melee. Super fun either way! As long as you focus on the core points in this video and stack the crap out of raw Spellpower and crit you’ll do fine. Thanks for watching!

I leveled 70 - 80 with Shockadin and it definitely works. Plus it's such a unique way to level through WoW that you'll have a ton of fun trying new things out. You actually have a lot of AoE potential against melee mobs with retribution aura and consecration, and you can put on a shield spike to do even more damage. Try it out! I disagree on pursuit of justice over eye for an eye, as reflective damage is a huge part of what makes this work. But I do take unyielding faith and repentance if you watch the arena build section of the video. However, this build flat does not function without judgment of the wise at 100%. Maybe you’re right. But then again the collective internet decided that Shockadin died in TBC, yet here it is killing people. Paladin defensives are the best in the game- they just also have the unique issue of being the worst in the game when you’re up against certain classes. It’s all a balancing act, and I’m looking forward to tweaking this build post-Naxx and beyond. Weirdly enough this is basically how Holy Paladin’s melee build plays in retail WoW. So somebody at Blizzard is picking up what Shockadin is putting down lol

Don't think I missed a single hit on that guy, and also won the fight. But to each his own. It's just how I play having been a tank for most of WoW. The S key is sacred. Either way, the build is still very valid. Am I the best WoW player in the world? No. Does this build wreck people even when I'm playing it? Absolutely. @@DryCerealGaming hahaha literally just got my shockadin build set up were rocking the turning tide and the voice of reason. Ret has been getting slapped in pvp and i dont want to take the easy route and just go preg for arena lets see what happens

@@nolanlipscomb9962 experimentation and ultimately FUN are the only reasons I even made this video. With the right mindset and a few neat tricks, this build can do wonders for you. But don’t forget to CLICK on hammer of wrath to finish people off though, just so they know what you’re all about. Good luck out there

Maybe? But combined with retribution aura, consecration, and infinite instant cast healing, small sources of damage really start to add up against an opponent. Especially considering very few classes can sustain themselves for long against this build.

@@Mohagrus this is far from a regular melee paladin build. Otherwise I’d agree with you. But with ranged damage in holy shock and exorcism, and massive reflective potential with eye + Ret aura it all stacks up nicely. Give it a try, especially considering you can get movement speed on boots if you really need to go 15% faster.

Righteousness mostly but vengeance if I can’t stay on them or I want to break stealth or something. They both do the same damage here roughly but righteousness is safer I suppose, and mostly irrelevant anyway your damage isn’t going to be coming from melee strikes anyway.
