2021 and The Lightning Seeds still sound fresh. Broudie's superb lyrics and unmistakable sound. Every single they did was a gem. Criminally underrated band.
i found my lightning seeds tape in the garage, haven't heard it in what must be nearly 25 years, came back to this song and found i could sing it straight off the bat.. was lucky to see them live at the royal court liverpool oh so many years ago
Radio TRIPLE AAA
He played this song on acoustic guitar at my great gran's funeral, he just randomly showed up and said she was that good of a shag that he had to do something special. Love you granny.
Take's me straight back to my childhood and the excitement of Englands presence in France during the 98 world cup, and of course the pure misery of being knocked out...
lightening seeds so underrated every song is just joy and perfection these the manic street preachers being as im welsh and stereophonics the old stuff the jewels of british music
There's something quintessentially English about the Lightning Seeds sound... such a great, feel good band that seem to encapsulate the perceived buzz in the UK that people look back on now as Brit Pop etc. Love it
It always seemed strange when people spend ages looking for a song, this one took me a while though. I used to listen to it loads when I was like 5 so I couldn't remember much. The only connection I could recall was traffic lights in the lyrics, I was also convinced it was from a completely different group but couldn't find it after hours. Now, a couple weeks later I just happened to remember another part of the song and found it in a couple minutes, satisfying feeling.
Glenn Burrows : Yeah, we had some great music in both the 80’s and 90’s, todays music is crap. My sister and I are shocked that we are now relegated to BBC Radio 2 ( or Magic FM on DAB ) as it’s the only station that’s not playing this auto tuned garbage.
See the rivers filled with rain I wish it could be blue again Hazy petrol nights Crimson sun on traffic lights A perfect day a perfect night Tell me all those perfect lies And lie back in the garden 'till it's light Streets get full up every night With people buzzing round the lights And waving at the taxis driving by Now tomorrow's here today And yesterday's today's just fade away Watch the morning chase the night Rolling home, it's getting light Feeling sleepy, full of wine Fall in bed, just in time The perfect stare of perfect eyes That kiss you as they tell you lies And wonder where you're going, where've you been In towers high with time to fill Gardens on your window sill In between the pavement and the sky Now tomorrow's here today And yesterday's today's just fade away Tell me why all the words will never come out right Fumbling blind, I've been driving through the danger signs A perfect day a perfect night Tell me all those perfect lies And lie back in the garden 'till it's light
Man this takes me back, my brother used to listen to this band alot and Oasis, music has gone to hell since the mid 2000's, 70's-90's was the best eras for music
In other words you've reached the stage in life that every generation does where you think the stuff you have nostalgia for is superior to everything being made today, even though there's loads of great music being made that you can't be arsed to find.
There's plenty of good music from every era. I was born in 1973. I'm very much a child of the 80s. That music will always be my go-to.but, there's still good music being made today. There's plenty of older music that is great. Phil Spector and his wall of sound and girl bands can hold their own against anything from any time!
90s, always the best decade, 26 years ago "perfect " with coffe and sigaret thingking what would i be in the future, whose gonna be my partner of live😅 Alhamdulillah all come true
Just been to see The Lightning Seeds in London this evening, playing to a packed house of enthusiastic fans, on their feet for most of the songs, dancing and singing along to every word. It was the happiest atmosphere of any gig I’ve been to - so although he may not have got recognition as wide as he deserved, he’s certainly appreciated by a sizeable fan base. :)
Perfect" See the rivers filled with rain I wish it could be blue again Hazy petrol nights Crimson sun on traffic lights A perfect day a perfect night Tell me all those perfect lies And lie back in the garden till it's light Streets get full up every night With people buzzing round the lights And waving at the taxis driving by Now tomorrow's here today And yesterday's today's just fade away Watch the morning chase the night Rolling home it's getting light Feeling sleepy full of wine Fall in bed just in time The perfect stare of perfect eyes That kiss you as they tell you lies And wonder where you're going where've you been In towers high with time to fill Gardens on your window sill In between the pavement and the sky Now tomorrow's here today And yesterday's today's just fade away Tell me why All the words will never come out right Fumbling blind I've been driving through the danger signs A perfect day a perfect night Tell me all those perfect lies And lie back in the garden till it's light Perfect silence me and you It's really me I really do Remember every moment magnified Now tomorrow's here today And yesterday's today's just fade away Tell me why All the words will never come out right Fumbling blind I've been driving through the danger signs
This song drives me insane. I know the lyrics are "lie back in the garden" which makes sense, but (apart from the windowsill line) I hear "gargan" with a G. Fuck knows what a gargan is. But that's what I hear. Every time since last century. Lie back in your gargan. Fucking gargan. AAAAARRARRGHHGRGHGRA
Don't make songs like this anymore....heard this randomly, in a shop or somewhere, had to seek it out! A very mature song, not like the pop you hear today.
