The Nerd Alyssa i love how in the son of Neptune, when Percy gets the food he wants most from the magical server people at camp Jupiter, he gets a drink that is blue, and even though he doesn't know why, it makes him happy and feel at home :)
Although I appreciate the way the musical paints it that way (probably because they didn't have the time for exposition) I much prefer in the book how it symbolizes Sally's individuality and a rebellion against her abusive husband.
"you'll leave that boring little life behind" - I don't like this line. One of the things I initially didn't like but came to love about the Percy Jackson series is that instead of encouraging running away into a fantasy world it encourages going to school, Percy doesn't want to be a half blood he rejected immortality to live a normal life with Annabeth and wants to go to college with her in New Rome. But I still love this musical
That's a good thought. I think that before he went to camp half blood, he hated school and thought his life generally sucked. Afterwards, he still felt that way, but it improved. (Remember how he looks at Annabeth's picture in Sea of Monsters, saying he really misses her and Camp Half Blood). Over time he appreciated being able to go to school as opposed to being dead. I don't think this line is inaccurate to Percy in the first book. It would have been inaccurate in the 3rd book and on.
If it helps, the last song of the musical kind of is all about going to face the real world :') Bring on the Monsters is a great last song for this musical, honestly, since it literally goes "BRING ON THE REAL WORLD" while also saying that Percy will be back next summer, a promise that we'll see him again and that he'll survive.
When he singing about add and dyslexia, it reminded me of how I fell in love with the books. I’ve struggled with school just like percy. This book series made me believe in my self, even if my adhd made it harder, I could overcome it! I’m going to college next year and plan to major in classical civilizations, aka Ancient Greece! Percy Jackson has helped me believe in myself, that Greek mythology is amazing, and That I can be strong!

My gosh, this embodies the beauty of the books. Don’t try to be something you’re not, but not done in a cliche way - instead, a way kids can actually relate to. That’s why I love Percy.

a lot of people really hate on the pjo series because its not as "good" as others like harry potter. but as a kid growing up with severe ADHD and zero friends, it really helped me feel normal. So many things about these books just helped me deal with my ADHD and see it in a healthy way, it made me feel special and cool instead of weird and the main source of my insecurities. I was able to talk about my ADHD and have my peers see it as something that makes me a demigod instead of the weird kid who talks too much. This song really emphasizes that message in the books, thanks for writing it :)

I started reading Percy Jackson when I was 12. I haven’t read them in a really long time since then but I remember how awesome it felt to read about kids with dyslexia and ADD like me and see them become heroes that used their faults to their advantage. Reading these books made me feel proud to be the way I am and they made me feel like I could do anything. Glad to see it put into song 💙💙💙
I always come back to this. I have to say .... this actress, just by listening to this song .... I can tell she’s an amazing Sally. She has her kindness and motherly wisdom and guidance, her inner strength and love. Her voice and acting embodies all of that.

This makes me want to read the books again. It's been so long. Rick Riordan came to my school when I was 12, and now, I'm a published author. It wouldn't have happened without the inspiration he gave me.
I think my favorite part of this song is when Percy starts singing "I can't focus, I stink at school" A different tune starts playing, a sort of jangly, goofier sort of music, and I think this really fits Percy well. Not sure why.
