Lovely Lily is sociable, her vocabulary is excellent, she has a positive body language and self- image, her speech and ideas clear. She's got a sense of humor, and soup to nuts... Miss Harper's extremely high functioning. Anybody who still holds the antiquated opinion that Down's people somehow are 'less than the rest of us'..really needs to view this video. So does Ellen De G -- PLEASE BOOK LILY ON YOUR SHOW!!!
@Thora Friganza People often get mixed up with learning disability and intellectual disability. People with Asperger's have slower information processing. People with dyslexia have difficulty learning to read. Imagine the two together - that does not a child make. She may have learning disabilities but she's socially right there and has plenty of confidence, and that is key.
Yes, but conversely her mother made a good point. Not everyone with Down’s syndrome is upbeat. A bias in portrayals of disability is that higher-functioning, optimistic and charismatic people are far more likely to be selected or to self-select to appear. Therefore those who are depressed, struggling, shy &c. are underrepresented and there is thus undue expectation on disabled people to be jolly, outgoing and stoic.
I don't know if you see these comments Lily but I think you are seriously just like Ellen! you are funny, smart,a good dancer, you can act,you are kind, caring and loving. I love Ellen too! I hope one day you can meet her. Take care!
Lily thinks she was a cute baby ? Wrong she was an absolutely adorable baby . Lily's personality and compassion is heart warming and anyone who has Lily touch their lives are truely blessed . Her bright friendly personality, her smile , her strive for independence and her ulimate goal to compete in the Para Olympics is an inspiration to us all .Lily is a beautiful, , intelligent and funny and exuberant young lady who I am sure is loved by many and I can see that she is quiet a talented performer just like her idol Ellen De Generis and maybe one day her dream will come true and Lily will be able to visit Ellen's show . I wish her all the best in her future hopes and dreams and hope that they all come true for her .
I think Lily’s amazing and a really good dancer! I just had a daughter and she has Down syndrome and I knew she would be born with Down syndrome it was never an issue for me. I just love my daughter and I just hope she thinks it’s an amazing part of who she is like Lily said DS is not a problem that needs to be fixed it’s an integral part of who some people are and it’s great 👍
Lily is the type of person you want to be around all the time. Her positive outlook and love for life radiates off of her. 😍❤️ I hope all your dreams come true, Lily!
People with Down Syndrome are the most beautiful people in the world! I look passed their disability and see promise, determination, perseverance, compassion, all of the positivity that could ever be! I don't see their struggles because despite them whatever they may be, THEY too overlook them and continue to go on as if nothing happened! They are an inspiration to us all! They are God's special angels! They have been blessed with every God like characteristic you could imagine! So glad I stumbled on to Lily's channel! She is super adorable and awesome!
I love this girl! She has a great head on her shoulders & a kind word for everyone she meets. Hope she gets to Ellen one day. On a side note, just discovered this channel today. I love it! So much for getting any house work done today, lol! I can't pull myself away. Great docs!
I am so impressed in how fun you are Lily’ and how much I enjoy watching your show. Keep it up girl, you got what it takes. Finally a show is worth to subscribe.
I love you Lily!❤️… My baby has downsyndrome and I’ve personally never known anyone with it so I’m learning. Love to see it’s not as terrible as the doctor’s faces made it seem while pregnant offering me to terminate 😞. You all deserve to be here as anyone else and given a chance to live your lives.
good job on this I AM DISABLE WITH C.P. AGE 67 AND I LEARN THE COMPUTER BY TURNING MY SELF into A WRITER AND A POETESS I after my mother passed away I didn't have nothing to do I thought about it over I am on facebook and I am a world traveler also
It saddens me to see how Lily seems to think she was willfully abandoned, like a lot of adopted people do. Who knows, maybe she was, but maybe her mom just really didn't have the resources, mentally or financially, or perhaps both. It's so sad to see people take personally what adults couldn't do for them. I hope she also realizes her adoptive parents chose her out of love for her, that she was very much deserving of.
Lily, you are blowing me away. You are a brighter spark, more eloquent, creative, energetic and confident than scores of people with a regular set of chromosomes! You are also a born leader, sportswoman and performer and with it so loving and empathetic! You must be the pride and joy of your family and so many other people! Kudos to your adoring adoptive parents for allowing all your talents to blossom. Kudos to you for all your determination and passion and that exuberant cheeky smile and humour! Your biological parents don't know what a great person they missed!
Her birth parents have no idea what they are missing out. If only more people are like her. I would definitely chose her as a friend if I would have had the chance
Lily! You're such a breath of fresh air.. so positive and upbeat! You must be loads of fun to be with! Keep being fabulous and I hope one day you get to meet Ellen. Love from Canada.
I love her personality & her family, God bless Lilly. You put your mind to it, life can be possible, glad to see this family took her in & raised her up to be herself. So AWESOME & living on her with some roommates nice😊
this girl has great energy. what an asset to the whole community. just a lovely person. i wish i had her confidence and zest for life. it would be an honor to have a child with down syndrome. her birth mother missed out big time.
Your positivity is infectious lili. I hope you get to meet your idol nothing is impossible or out of your reach. You my dear are a beautiful, amazing and very talented I wish more people Could see the world how you do xoxo
Just seeing this vid now, in 2020, and what can I say about Lily? Ok well, she's kind, helpful, funny, lovely, positive, an achiever, motivator, awesome swimmer, dancer, a beacon of light. She has a great family too. I'm sure England is, proud and lucky to have her! God bless her, and people everywhere, with DS, or any way challenged. My beloved brother was, RIP. Lily is a blessing.💐🌞☺💛🏅🏅🏊👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🙋🇺🇸 ,
you live your life well. Involved in so many things. You do waaaay more than I do! I loved watching this show. Your female room mate reminds me of my littlest sister when she was younger and doing gymnastics....same hair style , same sweet smile.
Maybe that ought to rewrite our notions of Down syndrome? It probably helped, the parents she had, and the fact that she had siblings with DS that made her really, truly nothing remotely special in her own family - and yet so special in herself too.
