Hi Peter, I ran with David Empringham in the Spenard David F2000 championship at Shannonville in 1988 and the Players Challenge in 1986 (Camaro). Patrick Carpentier was in the group (Speanrd David Championship of 88) as well, he had a long ponytail then. A young Jacques Villeneuve, who was about 16 in 1988 was a mechanic for the series and got to drive an F2000 once or twice for having serviced the cars, as well as learnt a lot about the setup of the then Reynard F2000. I will always remember Little Jacques passing me on the outside of corner 1(Shannonville)..yes corner 1! and seeing him struggle but make it, I was amazed. He already had immense car feel and control then. Anyway, it's always nice to reminisce about the old days. Sorry if this was off-topic. David was always consistent back in the day, as well as fast, but didn't seem to get all the breaks in climbing that racing ladder despite being Richard Spenard's prodigy.
