Wow, what an interesting keyboard. While the sound profile in this demonstration wasn't my absolute favorite in the world, I have to admit, this had to be the most unique and interesting keyboard I have ever built. If it anything like the spring, it has a nice bounciness and an overall pleasurable typing feel. Owlabs is really bringing a high-end typing feel to the market at a respectable price imo

DBOkey just uploaded a video of the Link65. Sounds very clacky and crisp. I think he used the white plate foam with Neon switches which are long pole switches. I was very impressed because initially I was very disappointed.

How do the OTC keycaps compare to the NK PBT sets? Do they feel similar? I'm hesitant to buy other keycaps. For reference, I purchased a set of the poly caps from Kinetic Labs and I did not like the feel of those compared to NK.

One strange thing that I’ve noticed about the included PE foam sheet for the top of the PCB is that it doesn’t have all the cutouts for the switch pins it only has 3; I personally bent 1/3rd of my switches “punching” thru the foam sheet. On other boards that are including the PE foam sheet I’ve seen has cuts for all 5 pins.

According to owlab staff, this is designed on purpose to make the sound more concentrated.

That ribbon cable worries me. I've "broken" my GPX cause the ribbon cable is so fragile and any hard bends would basically break it.

What is your favourite plate type? Mine is currently Alu, but it would be nice to have ur opinion. Also do u recommend any personal favourite switches as I love ur taste in sound profile.

Would definitely recommend alu or fr4 for link65. The pom plates and the pc plates are too flexible, thus inserting the switches would be painful (painful enough for 1.2mm flex cut pcbs, but much more painful with the link65 pcb)

Nah idk if this counts but because the kohaku got to people this year I'd have to say the kohaku has to be the board of the year but I'd say the board with the most craze and changed the market a bit this year has to be the QK65

Yeah, Wuque have had incredible hotswap layout support for years, there is no excuse for companies to not offer at the least ISO and split spacebar support in the default hotswap

@@exigency2231 Have they actually managed to build a proper PCB with ANSI and ISO support at the same time? I like ANSI return with ISO Lshift and so far all the PCBs I've seen would require soldering to do that.

I agree whole heartedly but I think their PCB in the Link65 was already pretty wild with how it's implemented! I'll admit, in the end you don't really feel it's true utilizations like I had mentioned in my full vod, which is sad!

@@nottheengineer4957 yup totally, it’s easy they did it with the Ikki and Zoom65. Functionally it’s just where the hotswap socket is, all that it needs is a copy paste of the already existing sockets. The only real issue is the real estate on the PCB but if you’re willing to make a few sockets north or weird direction facing it’s totally fine usually.

In my opinion no split spacebar support is the bigger drop. I’m waiting until people get with how superior split spacebar is (giant spacebars are a great aesthetic though, I just want split support)
