Mufasa: "Everything the light touches is our kingdom." Simba: "What about that shadowy place." Mufasa: "That's the live action remake. You must never go there son."
Hey I made a petition for a lion king prequel that shows Mufusa and scar growing up and mufusas Journey to the throne and How Scars jealousy drove to murder I need all the signatures I could get so I’d love it if you could sign chng.it/PwMBmjMH
Yeah, I would rather mark him as true neutral. Because, if anything, he did behave dissaproving and perhaps was Scar's informant previous reaching the Elephant Cementery. But he most likely did so in a joint effort to scandalize Simba's legitimacy by eyeing any foolish act the prince may do, and achieve Mufasa's forsaking his son. He surely not know about Scar's alliance with the Hyenas, let alone his regicide plan. That would explain his true effort by calling for Mufasa against the Hyenas and his (conveniently not mentioned) panic at the canyon. He does care for the royal family. But perhaps since their are his prestigious employers after all. Such position obtained by his own mother according to the prequel book: I would also care and panic about the noble family I was tasked to assist for my own sake! That including Scar after all.
The fact that Zazu tried to go get help for both Simba and Mufasa, but Scar knocked him out, kills that theory entirely. Zazu wouldn't need to get knocked out if he was working with Scar.
Or why he even came looking for simba and Nala and getting in the way of them being eaten by hyenas, taking attention away from them instead of just leaving them to die.
scar knocked him out because he was trying to help and didn't tell the lionnesses that he was knocked out because he is working with scar he doesn't everyone to know that is with scar, got it?
The reason the hyeanas are hungry is because they don’t respect the circle of life, therefore they aren’t able to feed them in the circle or else the circle will be corrupt. Mufasa keeps even his brother, an exile fed, that means that other predators are fed.
DanielP533 ahem, they follow along with scar overhunting. Then in the lion guard there is a line that will throw your entire idea out of proportion, Janja says... “they respect the whole /circle of life/“ When he says circle of life it is said in a sassy manner, meaning he thinks it’s stupid.
Mirikro the lion guard is not trust worthy to me I don’t connect anything of it to the lion king EXEPT that Janja is shenzi s son that’s the only thing I believe
Exactly, this guy is so wrong. Mufasa, and later Simba, represent archetypal lawful authority. They are in fact benevolent monarchs. This guy is viewing all of this through the lens of contemporary political mores. Which is a short-sighted way of analyzing morality.
He also compared a healthy savannah to a tropical rainforest. In various scenes the savannah is very green. But savannah’s aren’t always green, and herds migrate back and forth all the time. Even if the Pride was a bit on the larger side, the so-called “starving hyenas” have a pack HUNDREDS strong, despite chased out as scavengers vs apex predators. Even IF there were no lions around, the land simply could not support That Many hyenas. It’s a bit of a coincidence that Scar’s Rule coincided with the drought, but overhunting forced the herds to move on even more than the dry season did. Then with the hyenas gone and there’s only One socially structured group of apex predators, the herds return after the rainy season revives the land. Really. IF he wanted to pick apart politics, look no further than the hyenas being branded as both communists and n*z*s in Be Prepared-um. YIKES? Lions are a Food Web and Ecology. Hyenas were Disney presenting propaganda
Mufassa, imo, gets a pass. He’s a lion and the Circle of Life is essentially a food web. Hyenas are also apex predators. Introduce too many and you get Scar’s Reign even without the manipulation and murder. (He’s also not a typical male Lion, as Scar even sticks around at all vs getting chased off or killed, and presumably the other Lionesses are allowed to breed with other males than Mufassa, as Simba and Nala DO eventually breed with no problems affecting any of their cubs in any spinoff. Usual Male behavior is to kill off another male’s cubs when taking over a pride from another male to force the females back into heat. Scar actually does this...at least with MUFASSA’S cub. It’s unclear if any of the other cubs-sans Nala-are killed, but aside from Disney Logic they’re probably not fathered by either Mufassa or Scar but are left alone.) Also. How the Hyenas even GOT to have a pack numbering in the HUNDREDS (much larger than the already large Lion Pride), while scavenging at the edge of the Lion’s Territory? They’re clearly not starving! And with Timone and Pumbaa’s relatively close by territory that doesn’t have ANY apex predators aside from Simba? They had options. But they wanted territory already occupied (that kept them fed well enough even as Scavengers vs Ruling Apex) And the condition of the Pridelands-they’re healthy. There’s no overgrazing, there aren’t too many predators. Mufassa’s doing a great job keeping his Pride fed but allowing the other animals to flourish and even has their genuine respect. If he’s not hunting them they’re not afraid of him. (We don’t get to see a hunt for obvious reasons. But it’s probably the same Logic as in the Junglebook Remake: predators are allowed to hunt but prey are allowed to fight back/escape. No hunting under certain conditions)
So, no sarabi? Also, if you’re going to rank all three hyenas next to each other, you might as well group them together. I also think including main characters from following lion king stories would work better too, like Kovu and Kiara.
When a gopher and individual hyenas are enough to make a list but not Sarabi Also I feel theories shouldnt really be too included, so Zazu shouldnt really be seen as "evil"
The Hyenas are more important to the plot tho, Sarabi although maybe having around the same screen time just kinda hangs around the whole movie with her only time to shine at the end. but I agree get rid of the Gopher and put Sarabi
@@danielwalshh1640 well why put the hyenas as separate characters over just lumped together? none of them were more "evil" than the other (you could argue one was the leader and Ed just went along with stuff because he was the one who wasn't all there). I agree the hyenas should be there, but Sarabi should at least get a mention, like her bravery for standing up to Scar and holding her ground instead of cowering to him to explain there was no food
@@ruyekahatori3073 still tho I personally like the Hyenas having one each ( I am a little biased since I love hyenas so I naturally love them) but ye Sarabi should be there
So... Sarabi wasn't included because of her voice actress passing away? Hence whey she wasn't seen in Simba's Pride or the TV series. Sarabi had a huge part in the movie, even behind the scenes when Nala grew up and went off to find help and we know what happens after that.
In the song: when I led the guard, scar explains how he became evil and it is not completely his fault, a lion schemed him and he got bit by a venomous snake which made him lose temper easily. However Mufasa doesn't try cure the snake's venom, all he did was nickname Taka to Scar. Then taka became scar and decided to try take over the pride lands in revenge for his brother being mean and not helping, but he lost his power of the roar for the rest of the guard not helping him and roaring them away, then his other plan succeeded killing mufasa, but simba came in for the 'rescue' and destroyed him. THAT is the real truth about scar.
@@NAME-yg8sl it wouldn’t give lore about the movies if it wasn’t canon. The 3 other stories aren’t canon (the story from the 2019 remake claiming that Scar got his scar from Mufasa isn’t canon due to being in a separate timeline from the animated movies).
1 year late but Scar agreed to help the Strange Lion overthrow Mufasa because the Strange Lion told him that if he did they will take over the Pridelands. And unlike Kion he accepted the venom so it is completely his fault he is evil.
My point in the comment on the lions being dictators, well you’ve obviously glossed over the fact that the lions live in the savanna, it has tons of grass for all the herbivores to eat, my point I wanna make is that they eat the weaker ones to keep the pridelands healthy. If you just let herbivores eat whatever they want, there would be no more plants for them to eat just like if you let carnivores to eat whatever they wanted, then there would be no more animals to get rid of the overgrown plantation growing. You need both herbivores and carnivores to exist in the circle of life, the weakest animals are first to go as it’s nature and they will not survive for very long. The hyenas were banished for over hunting and not being courteous to the circle of life. So Mufasa was actually right to banish the hyenas for overhunting, if they had just took what they needed, they wouldn’t have been banished. Also that was one time and Scar told him to run away. 17:40
To piggyback off that, some of the animals included in the Coronation opening include Elephants and Rhinos, in other words animals that lions tend not to mess with. so the question is how did mufasa force these animals to bow to him? answer: he didn't. they came on their own volition because they respect mufasa not because they fear him. And Finally, to drive my point home, what do you think Elephants and rhinos do when their afraid? they Charge at it and smash it.
Very true. The video was way to hard on Mufasa. Blaming him for the fact that the pridelands seem to be pretty barren compared to the jungle? It's called the Savannah, dude, learn some biology. Vegetation is naturally scarce there, it isn't like lions could or should build an irrigation system. From all we see, the Savannah is well populated with all kinds of animals and the natural ecosystem is in balance. Lions aren't responsible for the climate. The influence they do potentially have on an ecosystem is too much or not enough hunting (the first one being what Scar does wrong and leads to things going downhill under his rule). Also blaming him for letting the hyenas "starve" in the Elephant graveyard as cruel is very shortsighted. Hyenas are by nature carrion eaters (and prey thieves), an elephant graveyard is a land of plenty for them. We don't actually see any Hyena starve or suffer from famine-induced weakness, we only see that the hyenas clearly want a bigger share and claim they are starving, but that's because they are greedy bastards. If you paid any attention to what happened under Scar's rule, you have to admit that Mufasa's decision to confine the Hyenas to the Elephant graveyard was a wise decision. And third, it doesn't do him justice to call him a dictator. He is not a dictator, he is a monarch. Though from the POV of a democrat there isn't too much difference, traditionally there is a huge one. Dictators are villains who seize power by force, monarchs are hereditary rulers who are traditionally accepted as such because it is the natural order that they rule. This difference cannot be stressed enough if we talk about lions, because it is actually true for them. They certainly didn't overthrow a democratic Savannah parliament, they rule because they are the strongest predators by nature.
Chris Rudolf Totally agree...except your bash at democrats. Regardless, ecology and human political systems really aren’t comparable; and the Pride being called a monarchy is only a choice of words to make a “better story”. But. It’s a food web, and comparing a savannah to a rainforest is apples to oranges. It’s unfortunate that Scar timed his coup at the start of a seasonal drought. The herds probably would’ve largely migrated regardless, but the hyenas overhunting in addition to the drought just exasperated things. It’s also highly possible that the pride DID actually change hunting grounds during particularly severe droughts, as evidenced by Sarabi’s council. But for a pack to quite literally number in the hundreds despite only sticking around as scavengers? They definitely weren’t starving! *also, Lions scavenge and steal prey, too. Most predators will. There are animals who are more or less strickly scavengers, but they’re not hyenas. Hyenas can go either way as being scavengers or THE Apex Predator
Actually, no, sorry but no... Simba wasn't trying to be mean to Scar, why? Well, he was a kid, a kid that was excited to tell what his father shared to him, but with who he goes first to tell? To Scar, its like when a kid makes a drawing and right after show it to his idol (his dad or mother) he goes to show it to you, in his mind, your opinion matters a lot and is a way of saying how important you are in his life... That is what makes Scar's attack on Simba all more tragic, cause Simba did love his uncle... But that didn't stop Scar from wanting him dead... Power over blood, you know...
I have a few vid suggestions: Oliver and Company characters: Good to Evil Good: Jenny and Oliver Grey: Georgette Bad: Sykes The Great Mouse Detective Good: Olivia, Dawson and Basil Grey: IDK Bad: Ratigan
i feel like ranking a character that's so minor you need to give them the benefit of the doubt wasn't a good choice. i think you had a good list overall, but the gopher felt unnecessary. why not include sarabi?
@@XIAO-j9o This is years ago but don't reply to him because he harassed me in another video just because I was stating why Fantasia was one of the best animated films, calling me hypocrite, immature and fool while he also never respected people's opinions
@@XIAO-j9o People's opinions can be subjective meaning that everyone's opinions is different but the thing is that Fantasia is one of the best animated films ever made, I wasn't forcing him to like Fantasia, I was telling him that his opinions was wrong then he got mad, he also accused me of feeling like "the world revolves around me" but I don't think that way and I let people do whatever they want, he also said "You're 10 because of your videos" while he ignored my point because my RU-vid videos was actually 5 years ago so I'm 15 years old.
Yes, but if that isn’t what the creators were trying to do (and I highly doubt they were trying to teach children about dictatorship) then you can’t judge their morality off if it
Considering so many lionesses were loyal to Scar in The Lion King 2, the line that he has inside agents in the Norwegian version does kinda make sense when you take the sequel into account
Should they really take the lines from a dubbed version of a song into account though? Especially if neither the original version or the movie itself ever says anything about Scar having any spies in the Pride Lands.
Good video but the part about the kingdom being barren and mufasa being a dictator was stupid, its a savannah - natural habitat for lions, and he is a "dictator" since they are at the top of the food hierarchy, seemed like political correctness got into the review
What really gets on my nerves is how people pick on Mufasa all of the time. Every animal bows down to him and comes to the ceremony of the newborn Prince Simba because they know that they are connected to the great Circle of Life and the lions help balance out that life so that they can all thrive and grow even though there are those whom have to wind up dying. Not to mention but the hyenas over eat the animals which disrupts the balance of the Circle of Life so Mufasa keeps up that balance. It gets on my nerves when people endlessly complain about that. Mufasa deserves to be so much higher than this.:(
My ranking ( with both sequels) Good Area : Gold Medal: Pumba Silver Medal: Rafiki Bronze Medal: Kiara Mufasa Nala Timon's mother Kovu Grey Area: Sarabi Timon Timon's uncle Zazu Vitani Evil Area: The outsiders The hyenas ( without the main trio) Ed Nuka Benzaï Bronze Medal: Shenzaï Silver Medal: Zira Gold Medal: Scar
Well why I think Zazu is good 1 He was being loyal to Mufasa 2 He was trying help Simba for being crazy 3 He was caring 4 He didn't want to do any harm 5 Also he didn't have an argument for being a target for zimba use incase if he's an adult someday. But he is hothead and sometimes lazy plus he thinks simba as a kid is crazy, I can understand why
Here's the list: 🥇 medal of Good: Pumbaa 🥈 medal of Good: Rafiki 🥉 medal of Good: Timon Gopher Nala Simba Mufasa Zazu Ed 🥉 medal of Evil: Banzi 🥈 medal of Evil: Shenzi 🥇 medal of Evil: Scar
15:04 I always thought Ed really knew what the hell was goin on....He voice actor (Jim) also said Ed just acts stupid Edit: He knew Scar was gonna get fucked after he betrayed them
Scar is definitely evil. He killed his brother(even if Mufasa did treat him poorly, although there isn't any evidence of that it doesn't really justify killing him)., tried to kill his nephew multiple times and made him feel guilty for Mufasa's death even though Simba had virtually nothing to do with it and while the pridelands condition during his reign wasn't completely his fault, since lions can't control the weather he didn't do anything to keep the hyenas hunting in check and sentenced them to death
Love the Lion King has some great heroes and villains. My favorite good guys are Simba, Nala, Sarabi, Kovu, and Kiara. My favorite villains are Scar and Zira. My favorite and only villain turned good is Vitani.
This is about what I expected, but where do you think Sarabi would be on this list? I know that we don’t see much of her, but we see enough for her to be ranked. Personally, I think she would be in between Simba and Mufasa because while she isn’t quite as heroic as Simba, she also stands up to Scar about their situation when he tells her that the lionesses aren’t doing enough.
First of all, the lions (other than scar) aren’t even close to evil, it’s just nature, and second, Zazu can be a prick, but he’s not evil, plus the whole thing with Scar knocking out Zazu disproves the whole theory.
kinda started to mix theories as mufasa is the ruler of a Savannah,an area without many forest or trees and with the circle of life it's more the hyena's abuse the limit's of freedom with how they nearly destroy the pride lands(with the lion guard adding to it/wish we saw the trio in it,also remember ed's voice actor saying he's actually the most evil of them which shows with how giddy he was to get revenge on scar.) causing them to be kicked out as the lions take only enough to survive that will replenish, help and lead peace with the animals and is shown to a degree the lions have limit of their rule(if they had dictator power couldn't the stampede be halted by mufasa's orders.)with scar only wanting power without realizing the consequences of maintaining a kingdom which even simba is shown to struggle with alongside ptsd of scars actions haunting him long after his death, would say simba probably would've cared for scar even if he was gloating about his superiority but scar was too power hungry to take advantage of his nephew's love. ,in zazu's case would put him higher as would you be alright having a childish ruler which he was right to complain about with mufasa just thought was childish play until the hyena's nearly got the cubs(who he tried to protect until they sent him to the "birdie boiler" and went to mufasa instead of letting them eat the kids.) and he got knocked out before/scar could've took simba without him knowing along with no reason for him to be caged if he was iago levels of traitor to where i wouldn't say he's evil.
The hyenas were outside of the pride lands so they were on their own for food. Not mufasa’s fault. As for eating the subjects and making them bow down... that’s assholeish 😹😹
