13:48 ..."This is supposed to be like a childrens movie"... Back then, people tend to treat children like rational human beings that can actually deal with hars themes (not by being explicit, but definitely not by shielding them from that stuff), unlike nowadays, were parents are so goddamn frail that they think their offspring are gonna be traumatized for life just for watching a scene. Anyway, this is the light stuff, if you want to watch some hardcore traumatizing material in kids movies, try with "An american tail" or "The land before time" (Don Bluth knew how to really put you on the edge)

@@corymccarty8603 Agreed. My point is, being a ghost of some kind is still a lot more "alive" than a plain corpse would be. You could even ask how relevant the physical body is to a persons self/soul. So even if the body is dead, as long as the soul is still around and somehow able to manipulate the "living" world, one might have to consider the person to still be alive in a way (similar to how many religions treat their form of afterlife).

I don't think I've ever seen someone who had seen Timon and Pumbaa, but not The Lion King! Such a unique reaction to them! The older I get, the more I appreciate the duo. They are much-needed comic relief after the tragedy of Mufasa's death and Simba's exile, and they provided Simba with a safe place to grow up after the trauma he endured. They were pretty much his parents for most of his life. Then, they willingly leave their idyllic home to help their friend/son fight for his home. I hope you check out more of the classic animated movies. Any of the 2D Disney films from Snow White to The Princess and the Frog are winners. I'd also recommend anything by Studio Ghibli. Another trio of movies to check out, if you're interested in Irish folklore, are The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, and Wolfwalkers by Tomm Moore.

Many people choose to wait until much later these days, and many regret making the decision to wait. There are a lot of interesting surveys on the happiness of people who have a family while young and of those who do not. My point is that no one here has any right to tell her what she SHOULD do. Well, normal family ties don't work in ruling families, because here relatives are rivals for the ultimate career move in the family business. The line of succession is practically a stabbing order, where your place in line denotes exactly how many people you have to kill to become king (the so-called Richard III. method of succession; whereas at other times, the standard practice was more of a battle royale, with everyone killing everyone, last one alive becomes king). History is full of that and it's the stuff for great royal drama - after all, this is a Shakespeare plot ("The rest is silence", I'd say).

I feel like I'm the only one who didn't cry when Darth Mufasa(if you know you know)died. I probably realized it was coming due to foreshadowing and being familiar with Shakespeare's Hamlet, which this movie is based on. Fun fact: actor Johnathan Taylor Thomas(Young Simba)couldn't create the sound Simba makea when he slides down the elephant skeleton by himslef so the audio crew put him in a harness and bounced him around the to get the sound right. You should watch the sequel to this one(Lion King 2: Simba's Pride) then do the live action remake of this one Dasha.

12:37 We call those "wildebeest" in American English. Also, "gnu", but that is much less common.

Disney's Magnum Opus. I'm BEYOND HYPED for the 30th anniversary re-release. I never saw the original Lion King in theaters, but I did see the live action version in theaters.

It always weirds me tf out when Sarabi says, “Tell me it’s not true” and looks all distraught when Scar says that Simba killed Mufasa. Like, bruh, how tf would it have been his fault?? He was a small child. Like, I just don’t understand. Obviously, even if it was “Simba’s fault”, he was a little kid. Like, obviously he didn’t murder his fucking dad. Why tf did she respond that way?? Wouldn’t everyone immediately know that Scar is making shit up??😂

I don't know why Disney suddenly took an interest in CGI-live-action reboots of previous hits. I've seen the CGI-live-action reboots of _The Jungle Book, Pete's Dragon, Beauty and the Beast,_ and this, and they're just not the same. And, somewhere along the line, I became disenchanted with the notion.

great reaction Dasha, The Lion King was my favorite movie in my childhood, it was impressive, and I still remember the shock I received when Scar's plan worked and Mufasa died, I felt a lot more sorry for Simba

A similar movie is "The Land Before Time" from 1988. It's also animated and deals with some of the same themes as Lion King, except it's about dinosaurs.
