"The Lion Sleeps Tonight" is a song originally written and recorded by Solomon Linda under the title "Mbube" for the South African Gallo Record Company in 1939. Linda's original was written in Zulu, while the English version's lyrics were written by George David Weiss. The song was adapted and covered internationally by many pop and folk revival artists in the 1950s and 1960s, including Henri Salvador, the Weavers, Jimmy Dorsey, Yma Sumac, Miriam Makeba, and the Kingston Trio.

I have watched this video hundreds of times. I have never been to this place, but whenever I see him play, it feels like home. His renditions make me feel a certain way no other music ever has. By far my favourite guitarist. It doesn't just come down to the style of guitar... its his personality and the atmosphere that he creates. No words can describe where this music takes me. I hope one day I can see him live. That would be truly amazing

Love this song - for me it was the pop group The Tokens ~1960. And I did not know Jimmy Dorsey did it too - maybe I'll come across it someday ! Stay safe. -Mike😷 p.s. (2021-07-18) my Dad had a copy of Yma Sumac too - she was fabulous !!
