Chocolate Mochi heard somewhere that to get a real reaction out of lucy when she first stepped into Narnia, they had her blindfolded and carried into the winter set and her reaction is genuine :)
I know. But however, I have to give it to Georgie Henley because out of all the characters and cast, She's one of my most ultimate favorite women out of the whole earth. 💙💙 Because she is a very nice British woman. 💙💙💙💙💙 I love her very much. 💙💙💙💙💙
True story, my youngest daughter had open heart surgery in the summer of 2020. She is a twin, and her and her sister love this movie. We made her a vial that resembled the one Lucy receives with the juice of the fire flower. We had her “sip” it before surgery so that it would cure her heart. She always reminded me of Lucy when she said “I think I could be brave enough.” Thank God that her surgery was successful and she’s doing great now! Merry Christmas to everyone! Long live Aslan!!!
3rd May 2021: True story I was getting a parcel and didn’t realise the door was left open and the dogs ran out to me. I grabbed Rosie just in time before going into the road; Wally stopped behind me. I rushed them back in and was honoured the Wonder Woman title by my mother. I was just like Woody in Toy Story 3
But Santa Claus should have given them a tray of beautiful morning tea, like he does in the BBC version... Why did they leave that out? It was lovely to see them enjoying morning tea with the beavers as spring broke out...

0:59 Potion of Healing -One drop would cure any injuries. -It won't deplete until your love is deplete. 1:13 Dagger of Fear -Draw it and the weak will not dare to touch you. 1:34 Bow of Accuracy, Arrows, Quiver of Infinite -Trust in this bow and it would not easily miss. -One hit would expel any enemies. -It won't run out until your will is run out. 1:55 Horn of Reinforcement -One blow would summon allies wherever you are. 2:06 Sword of Command -Draw it and the armies are all in your commands. 2:12 Shield of Invincible -Trust in this shield and it would not easily break. I wonder what gifts will Edmund has if he didn't make mistake.
Thought all gifts are wonderful, I always had a soft spot for the ones of Susan and Lucy. Susan is in the first place, because I don't think many had noticed the care and the help that Claus provided to her. "Blow a miss, and If you need help It will come." This gift makes sure that nothing bad could happen, ever to Susan, and that she will never feel alone or desperate. It is incredibly sweet for me seeing the irony vanish from Susan`s eyes as she understand, and respond kindly: "Thanks." Lucy, on the second place, made my heart melt. First when Claus gives her the cure for every wound or illness, giving her an incredible responsibility, and hope at the same time ("nothing will be fatal, you will never have to say goodbye to a loved one in this war"), and second...when he gives her the dagger, with a sad, conscious expression, saying that he hoped she will never have to use that (because that would means that she will get herself in troubles and dangers), but knowing that he had to accept the possibility. Then neither we as public want to see Lucy in danger, because she is so sweet when she says: "I think that I can be brave enough." She doesn't know the war, and how ugly It is, but is so brave and pure and valiant. She has to survive. So, I feel very choked when Claus confronted those two girls. I always thought that he used extra care with them, because they were so gentle and innocent. I wished he used the same care with Peter, instead of giving him a war kit.
Chizumi Peter is a man by there standers and for him to go to war is an expectation , also he is a king to be . A sword is more than just a weapon it’s a symbol of rank , honesty Peter’s main weapon in war would be a lance and the shield is perfect for use with that . What Peters gifs are , are side arms weapons he can bring into any situation and use in a pinch to save his life .
Oh he cared for Pete all right - but let's face it, the "war kit" was the best gift he could give someone in Peter's position. As the eldest brother, he carried the burden of protecting his siblings. A shield and a sword were handy tools for someone with his responsibility. The reason Father Christmas could say to Lucy "I pray you never have to use the dagger" is because Peter is expected to protect her from any such situation.
That's actually a Reyne shield. Peter's gonna be pissed when he finds out what Tywin Lannister did to his family, and the song that got written about it.
The White Witches power made it always winter but never Christmas; Santa Claus showing up was the first sign of her power waning. I wish they'd left in that Santa had stopped by the Beaver's house and left gifts there as well. The next sign was everything thawing.
The book was written before the American Santa more completely merged with the British concept of Father Christmas. The orignal Father Christmas was more of a personification of the season, rather than a magic gift giver, so it makes sense that he would appear in this point in the story. He was also a bit edgier than the grandfather like Santa, representing adults feasting and drinking, often representing the idea of archaic pagan/hedonistic christmas traditions. There were even possibly odin influences, like gandalf. Despite independent roots, by now the two characters are pretty indistinguishable, a lot of British people even say Santa now.
@@billobillman4224 I think original Father Christmas had roots in Norse paganism. There's a story about Odin giving gifts to good children if they left food out in their shoes for his horse to eat when he visited. Over time, this story may have merged with Celtic pagan beliefs on the seasons have a figure represent them given that the Vikings conquered parts of what is now the UK.
I knew from the moment right when I saw this scene I knew this was Narnia’s version for Santa Claus, this is my favorite scene out of any narnia movie!!! And I love how he says “ long live Aslan “ and merry Christmas! Right then I knew it was Santa Claus or Father Christmas!!!
Headcanon: Narnia is a dark ages version of the Harry Potter world, and Hogwarts was started by Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. Thinking that they could come up with better names for their Houses, they thought of the aliases Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, Salazar Slytherin and Helga Hufflepuff. Peter's sword is the Gryffindor Sword.
I don't get why people have to compare and merge fictional universes, and can't just appreciate them for how they enrich our lives. I'm sure Rowling was well familiar with the Narnia series, as a British author. The notion of four beings though is a part of many traditions, particularly the four archangels in many Christian traditions. Still unsure how that would fit in with the Pevensies; Peter is obviously Michael, with the sword, Lucy is Raphael, the healer with the cordial, Susan and her horn would be Gabriel, the heavenly Herald, but that would leave Edmund as Uriel signifying death and rebirth...which is a sense with Aslan's sacrifice does fit.
Er... No. A main problem with that theory is that Susan is the anti-Ravenclaw, just like Hermione is the anti-Luna. Ravenclaw is about creativity, individuality, and having an open mind. It's definitely not about being "logical" like Susan. And Lucy is more of a Gryffindor if you ask me.
Actually, Edmund's prized torch was a birthday gift he received over the 1 year before he and the others were summoned back to Narnia. Whether it was given to him by his mother, father or siblings is unclear, but C.S. Lewis says in the book Prince Caspian that Edmund's torch was a gift.
James Cosmo seems like the actor every single director picks for an older mentor-kind of character - when they're not picking Ian McKellen or Michael Gambon
Getting United 93 is better enough, I’ll be having the movie in 8 hours from now, I love my grandmother so freaking much and I’ve always been very close to her. I can’t believe she brought me the best 9/11 movies out there; I will be forever grateful for her doing this
It’s got a Holiday feel to it, like something I’d hear in a Christmas movie, but it’s got another beautiful part to it, which reminds me of Church music. It’s a wonderful mixture of the two, and I love the scene for it.
@@robertak2659 Someone pointed out in the coronation scene that each throne has a decoration of their gifts from Father Christmas - the sword and shield, the cordial, the bow and arrow, but that Edmunds instead shows his greatest action, him breaking the white witch's wand, even though it wounded him it meant that they had more of a chance now that she could no longer turn people to stone and that he in spite of his long to everyone including himself and his selfishness from earlier he had the clarity of mind and sense to go for her wand instead of for her directly.
You clearly have NO IDEA what Jadis is or what she's capable of. She's killed and entire PLANET and she WILL kill those children to secure her claim to the throne. She like Jeoffry... only Badass.
BOY, Instead of Hollywood pointlessly “remaking” all these Disney Classics (ie. fixing what isn't broken) , what about dedicating the time, money, energy, & effort to make the rest of the NARNIA books into movies? Or the ERAGON series into proper movies? 😮❓📚
Peter: and what about Edmund? Santa: what about him? Lucy: doesn’t he get a present? Santa: well is he here? Peter: no......he is with the ice Queen Santa: well f**k him! he doesn’t deserve a present, siding with her for some Turkish delights and hot chocolate.
Well, Edmund got his gift later, and not from Santa but from Aslan himself...the gift of salvation, not something that can be held in one's hand but in one's heart.
So in the bbc version of this movie (granted it was 1988). Father Christmas forbids Susan and Lucy from fighting in the battle. Just because they are women. So I’m so glad In this one he does not discourage them fighting if they have to. Because they’re both capable warriors who have made it this far. Long Live Aslan and Long Live strong Female protagonists!
That's pretty much the attitude from Lewis' era when he wrote the books...but it was understood that sometimes women have the need to defend themselves and their loved ones, which is why they did get the means to do just that.
If Father Christmas lives in Narnia, imagine every religious and mythological figure was in Narnia. And the good guys are on Aslan’s side. And they all say in their native tongue. “Long live Aslan”!
Gosh I miss the days of good films that brought a sense of escape from reality like these films. I love the feeling I get from them, this and Harry Potter are my favorite set if films
But the subtext is that the time would come when he had to use it...just as young men not much older than he were fighting and dying back home in Europe during the second World War. I actually have a very dear friend who was 8 years old during the Nazi bombing raids in England (he's now 87); his house was bombed but he and his mother survived by hiding in the cabinet under the stairs (shades of Harry Potter there!) and then he was evacuated to the country just like the Pevensie children; though he ended up on a farm that grew hops for beer rather than with an old Professor with a strange wardrobe.
I saw Peter's magnificent sword at the Texas Renaissance Fair this month as it started getting cold and rainy. I recognized the lion head on the pommel.
My friend took me to see this movie in the theater. He had read the books. As we walked out, I said to him (my eyes glistening): "I feel clean". I think this scene was one of the reasons.
Peter is a Lannister (he has the hair for it) and he joined the nights watch, and he saved Jeor Mormont from the white walker and was reward longclaw with a Lion Pommel. Sorry Jon Snow
Am I the only one who wants help to come in the form of a terminator, who holds his hand out to Susan and says "come with me if you want to live?" Anyone else?
1:46 girl you gotta let your voice be heard and use the bow and arrow to defend yourself and your family. You also gotta blow the horn so help from Aslan will come.
A lot of people are weirded out by this because they’re used to the american Santa, the British Father Christmas, as a personification of the season, makes complete sense here. Here is a poem drawing from mummers plays and other sources to make the “british answer to a night before Christmas:” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-r_eG_msy77E.html, hopefully gives a good feel of the original british father christmas before santa crossed the atlantic.
