As a lifelong Detroit Lions fan, it blows me away. Not only my Lions on the field but all the love you folks on the outside are giving us. People here in Detroit don't know much about what a good football team feels like. This team is giving us football fans REAL hope. 1 step at a time, let's go Lions.
“One step at a time” - spoken like a lifelong lions fan 😂 We’ve experienced every possible way to lose over the last 30 years, except a heartbreaking loss deep in the playoffs. I know this season will most likely end in pain, but I’m sure gonna enjoy the ride in the meantime! Go Lions!
I'm not a Lions fan but as a football fan in general, I want to see solid fundamentals, complimentary football, good execution, smart decisions, low penalties, etc. As well as individuals kicking ass and the whole org having FUN with it. When that all comes together in a group of people who believe in each other and focus and fight hard.... man, it's fun to watch.
The Lions have earned it. That's the way it should be - they're getting the attention for really putting it all together, and getting consistently better. Not just because they're a "media favorite" like the Cowboys, or a flash in the pan.
Was literally saying the exact same thing in my head, at the moment I started reading your comment. Nothing against Walker, who's a great player, but he's not on the same level as Hutch. He's just not. I'm biased af, but that's me checking that bias at the door, before saying that. I won't sit here and trip....by the end of it all, I was hoping Jax would take him, so we could have Walker. I was wrong. Now, and this could be that bias coming into play, but I try to look at it objectively, & I still think Hutch was the true Defense rookie of. the year. Sauce was phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal....#97 had more interceptions than he did. Think about that. Add double digit sacks (from a position where it's not expected) tfl's, the non-stop relentlessness in every single play, the amount of batted balls, and more.....but That's just me. ETA: would've been remiss not to mention a few things about both Sauce & Hutch.... can't be overstated how dominant both were, not in terms of rookies, but the entire league. Sauce was a true lockdown corner, and Hutch was quite literally drawing triple teams, let alone double teams, at times last year. They both played their respective positions about as well as anyone possibly could. Hell, why not make em both DROY? They've done it with the MVP.
@@SelfHatingLionsFan We got something in the water here in Detroit and the surrounding suburbs. Both of the best rookies last year from our area code lol
@@OmarM-zk9ghDoubtful, Hutchinson grew up in Dearborn Michigan. Dad went to U of M, Aiden went to U of M. His family is a huge part of his life. He said he wanted to come to Detroit several times before the draft. And he may have followed Brady since he went to Michigan…
I'd argue that MCDC didn't "look like a dufus to everyone" after his first press conference. Because to a lot of Lions fans, he did not look like a dufus. He said exactly what we wanted to hear and exactly what we needed to hear. It was the rest of the league that was labeling him a dufus.
Hear hear. I'm a Raiders fan and when I saw that knee-biting presser I said, "oh man, WE need a guy with heart like that." MCDC didn't seem like a dufus to me at all, I really believed him. Sometimes coaches talk smack and it just seems fake... but Campbell had something REAL in his voice.
As a lifelong Bears fan and seeing my team in a deep dark hole, I really do like watching this Lions team. They’re fun to watch. Plus, Dan Campbell is an easy guy to root for.
As a life long Lions fan, I am just happy to have a front office and coaching staff that works together and is building a culture and growing into a winning franchise. Because we’ve never seen that. When I say front office that includes the owner.
as a lifelong packers fan but also being a fan of a lot of the players detroit drafted makes it bittersweet. i like amon ra at usc. but im also a lifelong fan of alabama because of my dad. and i want to see gibbs and branch to succeed but damn its so hard
I was at the home games in an empty stadium during the 0-16 season. I wish I could attend a home game now. Military life makes it difficult, but damn am I proud of this team! Top to bottom, this team is everything I've wanted. Love everything about it!
Hoorah. I'm out now, but watching your team PERIOD was hard while enlisted. I had just gotten my dd214s that 0-16 season, and I remember being so excited to get home and hit up some Lions games. Was a rough year between terrible football and getting back to adjusting to civilian life.
As a lifelong Packers fan, I am rooting for the lions this year. My uncle was a huge lions fan. We lost him this past March to ALS. He would be proud of the team this year.
I’m a Lions fan based in UK so had to get up at 1am to watch the game but I’m so very glad I did, I was still nervous at times particularly in the second half but by the end of the game it felt like the Lions had controlled what they could brilliantly Great way to start the weekend 🎉
Lions fan based in the UK? You mist take a lot of Ls in life so I'm very happy your Brand New Lions are doing great. Very entertaining to see the historically terrible Lions whoop the historically great Packers up and down the field.
having a coach that just puts all his trust in his players, and a GM that makes picks that resemble not only skill, but straight class and character will do that for ya. I'd say every other team in the NFL should take notice tbh. It's paying dividends for Detroit.
A.J.’s last words in this segment sums up part of why the Lions are only gonna get better: “seems like a fun place to play, actually.” Detroit is no longer a place that FAs avoid, no longer a place that has to overpay on contracts to keep folks home. It’s becoming a football cultural destination and I’m here for it. One fuckin Pride. Detroit vs Everybody. Let’s fuckin go
It's a new world out there. Players want to feel appreciated. Campbell consistently expresses his love for the guys in the locker room. The young guys are being trusted to play and occasionally screwing up and being allowed recover is like Dan being the perfect dad. I treat my kids the same way. A family is being created and I'm excited to watch it happen.
There aren't good words to describe what it's like to see my favorite team break out of the abyss in which they have been residents since before the first Super Bowl. Lions fans are giddy because most have never lived in a world where this kind of thing happens often enough to appreciate. Lions fans are cheering a completely different NFL world.
As a Lions fan we have seen a lot of respect growing for Detroit last year and now we see a team that is determined to not just be the king of the NFC North but to also go head to head with the best teams. Lions do not suck when we have people changing that Lions nation of losing big or not showing up or collapsing all the time. Its good to see fans of other teams respecting the Lions a lot more than seeing them as a joke or a loser team. Who knows we may make it to the playoffs, and so on. But as long as Dan and Goff keeps on what they are doing, the entire team keeps on showing up. Who knows we may see a super bowl champion of Detroit coming real soon.
One thing I've learned cheering for the Lions for 34 years is never to make claims on what my team is definitely going to do or what opponent they will definitely beat. Too many times I have come to regret it. Best of luck to SF this season. They look like a solid, well coached team with no big weaknesses. Time will tell what may happen should they be fortunate enough to meet.
I'm glad they mentioned the Lions' 4 minute offense towards the end, which is sonething I've been pointing out the last couple weeks. Being a long-suffering Lions fan, since the Barry/Fontes era, that ability to impose their will & finish out games has been pretty much nonexistent for 30+ years. As good as things are looking right now though, i still can't bring myself to go higher than cautious optimism, due to the exoeriences of the last 30 years or so. Having said that, this definitely feels different, and Campbell reminds me a lot of Fontes. But still, too many heartbreaks & disappointment has me staying put at cautious optimism. But hey, even that is better than what I've felt over most of the last few decades, so I'll take it. Keep it rolling Lions, keep restoring the roar.
Seahawks and Lions have built a rivalry over the past 20 years. And the trend continues this year, as Lions would be 4-0 if it wasn't for the Seahawks. Watch out if we get a Lions vs Seahawks game in January.
It has been said before, But it bares repeating. Us life long lions fans seeing the NFL embrace these kitties is the best feeling ever. Seriously, we love the love. THANK YOU PAT.
As a lions fan, I will always remember that 3rd quarter clock hitting zeros and Green Bay was allowed that bomb before the quarter. That was the same old lions the refs were trying to screw, but the brand new lions took the air from that team. Let’s go
People need to give more credit to the Lions front office for sticking with their head coach. Most organizations would have dropped him, but he has something that many coaches do not offer. They are giving him a chance to figure out and learn his team which is a rare commodity and it is paying off beautifully
Re the Goff trade - you gotta remember that was Brad Holmes pulling that trigger and he was a Goff guy from LA. He knew Goff and he wanted Goff. It wasn't a Marlins trading Miguel Cabrera to the Tigers but you gotta take Dontrelle Willis too kinda thing. Goff was a Brad Holmes target of that trade, not a throw in.
I think where people get confuzzled about the Lions is Goff. Something clicked with him last year and I have 100% faith in him with Ben Johnson, our OL, and our running game. Sean McVay did him dirty and threw Goff under the bus... which taints people's opinion of him. I won't defend Goff if he doesn't have people to block for him, but he's very accurate and a good decision maker when given time. And he just has a very calming, no panic attitude that works for this team. Btw, He HAS been to 3 pro bowls and a super bowl... so he's not chopped liver.. AHEM Fitzpatrick... cough cough.
The refs gave Greenbay two touchdowns. The 45 yard pass at the end of the third quarter, that shouldn't of counted, the play clock was 000 before Greenbay snapped the ball. The Lions greatest quality is their depth of talent. The Lions were missing 9 starters from injury, last night. The other supposedly drive by Greenbay, the refs called 4 ridiculous penalties on the Lions defence. It gave Greenbay 45 free yards. The Lions best edge rusher James Houston IV will be back in November. Jameson Williams was reinstated today from his suspension. He's playing next week.
I know it's early(and this is coming from a Packer fan) but if the Lions can stay healthy and keep playing the way they are playing, I'm seeing a possible Superbowl in their future. I think that would be pretty cool honestly. Hutchinson is a f@#$ing animal!!! 😳😲😲
I said this since 4 games in last year. Goff is a baller, he had that offense last year flying!! With limited WRs and his star WR hurt. Over the offseason they addressed defense issues and now the lions are here!
Question: Why did everything change when they fired one coach? Answer: Accountability. Everyone saw the firing and thier sphincter puckered up. People get serious when they see that thier job is on the line. Call me crazy.
I haven’t read there was any problem with accountability beyond Aubrey Pleasent himself. Plus Campbell had already removed/demoted Anthony Lynn which would have sent a bigger message he wasn’t playing around. Word on the street was Pleasent wasn’t telling the backs to do what Glenn was telling Pleasent to do. So after he gets canned, the players are actually being told what’s consistent with the scheme and the defense gets better. Campbell has had command of this coaching staff and team since the first training camp because he’s smart, knows how to build chemistry, and respects everyone in the building. Which is much better way to create organic accountability than forcing it by firing someone. Just what I’ve seen from the outside looking in.
This was the most respected interview about the lions I've seen yet! And it's was 20+ mins of praise....trust boys it's been a long fuckin time coming! Lmao
Gotta say after living near Detroit all my life and being a lifelong Michigan And Lions fan we definitely deserve this. We were the first Cleveland 0-16 team. Felt like everyone spoke about the Browns going 0-16 but for the Lions it was just like eh normal ole Lions. We've suffered for so long man. Also being a Michigan fan losing to Ohio state and Michigan State not to mention all the horrible punt return/kick return losses great to see Michigan doing their thing as well and Jj Mccarthy being a stud. Culture feels great just feel like we got the best people for the job in the correct positions. Go Wolverines and go Lions💛💙 *Edit oh i forgot to mention the year Michigan lost to Appalachian State first game of the season. Things really got brutal for us lol
As a Fins fan, I was pissed when Miami let Campbell go after that interim season. Took almost a decade for Miami to finally get on the right track, but I couldn't be happier for the Lions. MCDC is awesome!
This Lions' team was mega banged up! No CJGJ, Kirby Joseph, Josh Paschal, James Houston ( sack monster of 2022), JaMo ( 5 main starters); Matt Nelson. Banged up Taylor Decker, injured Ragnow, Thigh bruise for Montgomery!! "Next man up" and no excuses!! Media talks about banged up Green Bay or no Jones-Kelce Chiefs....how about wounded ferocious cat Lions!! Grit, guts, pound the ball, control the trenches and run over!!!!
What Foxy said about the trust is so true. NO MORE SOL! Goff picked on the first drive?, No problem. Defense lets up a score. No problem. We are finally for once in my life playing complete football.
Been watching the Lions for 36 years and never been this excited for the games. Cheered for them at 0-16 and will cheer for them at 3-1. I used to just hope it was a close game but now I expect them to win. So many people were down on them after the Seattle game but no one thought they were going to be undefeated. Now with Jamo being reinstated and when the secondary gets healthy again, this is going to be a fun fun season for us Lions fans.
I'm a Packers fan and did not expect the Packers to win. Packers have looked extremely inconsistent on offense and not great on defense (fire Joe Barry... guy should have been let go last year). The fact that carried over to this game should surprise no one, nor should the fact that the Lions are a damn good football team.
I was in LA July 2021, and I ran into Jared Goff and Whitworth having dinner with their girlfriends at Craig's. When I was leaving, I walked over to their table and told Jared I was from Detroit, and we were excited to get him. Not knowing what else to say, I told him "If you win a playoff game, they'll build a statue of you out in front of Ford Field." He laughed, fist-bumped me, and thanked me. As I walked away, his girlfriend Christen Harper said "Oh my God, that was so cool!" I'm proud of this team, finally!
While we're giving Goff his flowers let's remember he's doing this with Reynolds and Raymond who were virtually cast offs from the Titans. It's not like this is a coveted WR room outside of Aman-Ra.
I'm a Pats fan, so seeing the Pats be as they are post-dynasty has been rough. But now that all my childhood favorite players are retired, I'm in that place where I just look around and see who's doing what. I find myself rooting for Detroit and Cincy now, and I love just watching games around the league featuring these new and exciting players. I really wanna see Dan Campbell and Co. make noise in the playoffs. They deserve success, they've earned it
For real, Dan Campbell is shaping these young men in his image with his leadership style. Jared Goff is not the surfer kid he was when he came here. You can even hear it in the speech patterns of a lot of these guys. He's more than a football coach.
As a Minnesota fan, I begrudgingly agree with Pat & company b/c right now Detroit has all the answers to the test while the Vikings & Bears are beating themselves & the Packers are still trying to find out what life without Aaron Rodgers is.
Im fully expecting 2 losses to Vikings as a Pack fan also this year. Which I want, cuz theres a lot of people that need to get fired from a bad season in GB.
@@tieoneon1614 While I appreciate that & if I'm honest I hope it happens, however, as a Vikings fan, I've seen how they can't get out of their own way & Green Bay has shown some good plays here & there so I'm uneasy about those matchups.
@@zackford4497 Well, when it comes to the matchups between Minnesota & Green Bay those games are a toss-up & the Lions are in a good position to win out in the division.
I would like to thank Jacksonville for royally messing up in the draft a few years ago and letting us take Hutch at 2 when he was the slam dunk number 1
The difference for Goff in LA vs Detroit was McVay had a system and Goff was a piece in that system. In Detroit they built the system around Goff and made him the center piece.
I'm a huge Colts fan, and I'm stoked to see the Lions making moves. Both in BB and FB, we're used to being the underdogs and slept on here. Go Lions! ( ... 'til you play the Colts)
When the conversation comes up about Jared Goff, as a potential MVP candidate. I always refer back to that Thursday night game ; Rams vs Kansas City. And I tell myself yes!
Foxy 40+ year lion fan. When Packers pulled within 10 I started to worry. Old Lions give up 2 TDS and lose. So relieved...I actually cried tears of joy. I'm enjoying the ride.
To put this in perspective I’m 51 and it’s been 1 that’s O-N-E 1 playoff victory in 12 postseason appearances in my lifetime. As afraid as I am that we’re going to revert back to SoL I’m excited for our future
I don't understand how the quality can be so bad for 2 hours straight on ESPN. They screwing you guys big time. They must just not care about your show as much as other shows and it shows...
Now that we have JaMo back we will be a force to be reckoned with. Goff will orove that he can not be compared to any other QB because he helped rebuild this team and Matt Ryan had nothing to do with his supporting cast. One Pride
I thought at the end of the 3rd quarter with the BONUS time to hit the big play that was going to be the same old crap that shoots the LIONS down. But they stepped up, played the 4th quarter and just shut them up! BAM LIONS WIN!
Lions fan my whole life, and I have to chuckle every time somebody says something about their team like " they just keep making the same mistakes over and over again and it never changes." 😂 I've been saying that about the Lions for 50 years. Though every year starts with some sense of optimism. I always keep that certainty in the back of my mind that something's going to fall apart. This year, and obviously everybody else thinks so too, feels different. 🤞
I'm not even sure Pat and AJ watched. In the first two minutes they said Goff threw 2 interceptions and Laporta had a TD. Goff threw 1 int and Laporta did not score a TD lmfao
@@imabadmofosofux2348sheeesh Goodell’s been there for 92 years to make yalls nfls Weakest and lamest franchise? 😂😂😂😂 You guys aint doin sh, never beento a SB and never will 😂😂😂😂 🏆🏆🏆🏆 🧀

@@yaboytroy357Vikings fans are the worst. They actually believed last year wasn’t a fluke even tho by every metric it was. And us Packer fans understand the years of jealousy created a lot of spite lol
@@gerbertron3226 it’s also the attitude that stemmed from Rodgers about the Lions all those years. Never took them seriously even once, including week 18 last year. At least the Vikings and Bears never felt cocky enough to completely ignore our existence
Also to go from cheering for the rams experiencing the superbowl bi-curiously cuz of stafford. Felt good cuz he was our guy. But this feeling is way fuckin better cuz this is really us
Ragnow FINALLY getting his flowers. Kelce is phenomenal but his name is what gets him most of the praise. As a Packers fan I thought it was hilarious that when we’d play the Lions it was a battle of the two best centers back when we had Corey Linsley. I think rn for centers it’s 1 Linsley, 2 Ragnow, 3 Kelce. Creed Humphrey is really good too tho
Pat is such a solid host and guy. Interrupts his guy bc it's his show and has to get out some good words then immediately after finishing apologizing for stepping on his guys toes ever thoug it's his show. Absolute class act.
I never experienced a situation where I couldn't find a seat for a Lions game in a public establishment.....I was at a casino and couldn't find a seat within range of a television
