For those who didn‘t get it what was happening in the video: the man free-ranges all his hens on the mountain freely and the hens look for food independently, but now and then ( or maybe daily) the man offers extra food (maybe some vegies&fruits? I guess😊) for his hens. How to let his hens know it‘s mealtime? He shouts loudly: Kai-fan-la (the pronounciation of „mealtime“ in Chinese), acompanied with that tool in his hand which is quite loud when striking. Those hens defintely can identify the shouting of their owner and the sound of that tool as signal of mealtime. In the video they rushed from the sky to the feeding spot, after the man shouted and played the tool. The man’s dogs were having such awarness of danger😂 Adding: To answer questions about why the hens could fly so well, I checked again and can confirm they are not the regular hens (female chickens) but guinea hens (female guinea fowls) that originated from Africa. They are born to have good low-altitude, short-distance flying ability. In Chinese, we call them “Zhen Zhu Ji,” which translates to “Pearl Chicken.” Similarly, in German, they are called “Perlhuhn,” where “Perl” means “pearl” and “Huhn” means “chicken.” However, guinea fowls are not closely related to regular chickens. Sorry for the confusion I caused in the previous explanation.😞 Adding again: Thank you all, dear friends, for your lovely comments😊
I was in Greece, in a village that is not a tourist site, I was there for a seminar. I had to get up early to get ready, go trough my materials for the day. So there I was, sitting on a small balcony when on a hill nearby I see a man exiting his house in nothing but underwear. Then he proceeded to yell towards the hills. It took maybe 3 minutes when turkeys started to pour in. It was the most majestic site ever, the old half naked old man just summoning a turkey tornado. He fed them and returned to his house.
@@notdoku1706 I literally knew that, im feeling they are living on top of the mountains and when they get called they just fly down like an whole air fleet bombing🤣
@user-pt5re9jg3c They ran because it wasn't hens coming into landing. They are Guinea Fowls. They can be ferocious. They're beaks and claws are lethal. They're from West Africa and look like miniature Cassowary from Australia, the world's most dangerous bird. Guinea Fowls taste insanely delicious though, and the eggs, my goodness🤤
I remember when I was a child, we’d get up early in the morning and feed the chickens and let them go free and find more food and near lunch time we’d call them again for food and they’d come running. Or when I’d call my dog and no matter how far he was he’d hear me and come running. Beautiful memories that are so precious.
I once follow my grandpa to feed the chickens. He only said "Cluck Cluck! " And rattled his corn filled bottle. I remember I screamed hysterically when every chickens ran toward us. My grandpa just laughed.
That wouldn't have scared me as a kid, but having chickens growing up, nothing is scarier than a hen whose chicks you almost kicked while playing on a hammock. I felt surrounded... and very afraid...
@Olderbutbetter •l Basically chickens CAN fly. Even longer distances than shown here. It is the American "Domesticated" chicken that's been tinkered with that cannot fly. Domesticated turkeys too. They're hybrids of natural chickens, such as the ones seen here. Store sold chickens, and turkeys have been skewed to grow larger breast. When it was discovered back in the 70s that breast meat was the healthier choice, scientist went to work. The fowl sold in stores cannot get airborne, with the massive drag of the breast meat on their undersides.
