The Little Friend : Donna Tartt's miss-understood middle child 

I love Donna Tartt and this is one of my favorite books of all time. It is so atmospheric. I love a good southern Gothic novel. I think the mystery of Robin's death is sort of revealed if you pay attention. He loved super heros and he loved how they were able to fly. He wanted to be able to mimic the flying with the rope tied to a tree. That is my opinion anyway.

I find it difficult to believe that I hadn't heard of Donna Tartt until this year. This was one of the best books I have ever read. Having been raised in the South, everything about the era and setting was incredibly familiar, visceral. Her ability to capture a character with dialogue, her descriptions of light and shadow, her humor moved me so much I actually put the book down more than once and just said out loud, 'Oh my God yes.' You can imagine my surprise when I read of peoples frustration with "a lack of resolution." I for one am suspicious of resolution. Thank you for posting this, I'm glad I listened.

Donna Tartt is my literary crush. I allways thought Donna Tartt's A Little Friend was reminiscent of Robert McCammon's Boy's Life.

Hely Hull is one of my favorite characters of all time. I love that he got to deliver the final summation.

Great review! I just finished it and I thought it was great. It felt like a Huck Finn story with a kid having a big dangerous adventure. I've loved all three of Tartt's novels and I'm ready for a fourth book!

This sounds great! I bought The Secret History years ago and never read it. Now I’m feeling like an idiot. Where did i put that book!? And of course I need to buy this one too, because you make it sound amazing. Great video!
